Asojima 2,874 Posted September 14, 2013 And the first thing you do with Ustream is add /pop-out to the end of the URL. Pop

Asojima 2,874 Posted September 14, 2013 To get rid of the distracting commercials, you need AdBlock Plus on Firefox or Chrome. On IE, I use Simple Adblock which is available from Download dot com. It is free for 30 days. The onetime fee after that is worth it. Have been playing with Ustream for several years.

This allows you to bring up a second browser screen behind or beside the Ustream to view the site of your choice (SF, of course) in split screen. PS: In iE, you can view the Ustream at 125 to 200%. However, the stream seems to be coming in chunks of about 15 seconds and VLC only saved the first one and then stopped. (While watching the video normally, there's a noticeable interruption of about a second when it loads the next chunk.) Any ideas?

Go to one of the ustream's live coverages - http://www.ustream.tv/channel/wbch2 Put this url to magic page and generate .m3u8 playlist. Open this playlist in vlc and record it. Everything works fine. I've recorded about 10 mins without any problems. Additionally you may slightly increase buffer in vlc (to 3000 ms for example).

Changing the buffer/timeout settings has had no effect either. Hmm.

Asashosakari 19,442 Posted September 14, 2013 Hmm, maybe I'm doing something wrong altogether (I don't normally use VLC to record anything). We are talking about the Convert/Save feature, right?

Huschnu 5 Posted September 14, 2013 Hello sorry for my bad English, I found a way to record ustream with the video lan client using livestreamer http://livestreamer.tanuki.se/en/latest/ . (only tested it on windows 8) 1. Install livestreamer and vlc 2. Open configuration file in the folder %appdata%/livestreamer 3. Now under "# Using --file-caching is recommended, but is only supported in VLC 2.0+" remove the "#" in front of the path to your vlc.exe and add "--sout file/ts:<DESTINATION FOLDER>\stream.ts" (<DESTINATION FOLDER> must obviously be replaced). 4. Create a shortcut to the livestreamer.exe 5. Edit the shortcut, "...\Livestreamer\livestreamer.exe" <USTREAM LINK> 480p 6. Double click the shortcut and the recording should begin My native language is German, I could write a better howto in German if it helps.
