Another thread where nekodamashi came up got me thinking about Mainoumi, the Technique Department Store. When I was first starting to find myself watching sumo regularly, I started to notice him and his size and style; but he retired soon after and I never got to enjoy him in his prime as much as I could've. Since he became a commentator, he has also done some wonderful in-depth interviews. They all know what a superb technician he was as a pro, so his interviews can really get down to brass tacks. Challenge: does anybody remember the highly unusual mitokorozeme he once pulled? It was on my watch, and it's the only time I've seen the producer frantically leafing through a dictionary to find out what the heck it was. At the Dewanoumi senshuraku party a few days later I asked him about it. "Did you know at the time that you were going for the mitokorozeme?" He shrugged and said "No, I was trying to work him into position for a leg-trip and it just happened." Orion

I was looking for something else on youtube, and saw a side suggestion for Japanese celebrities without makeup. Most of them were women of course, but they had men too. I really wouldn't have cared, but they promised Demon Kogure, sometime sumo commentator as well, so I waded through it, and found his pic and took a screenshot. Hmmm.. the makeup definitely adds something.

a great way to celebrate would be to bring back the bonus-rikishi for this basho hakuho would be my favourite

so...for the sake of the 100th edition i entered a guess anything better than 3-12 would be a surprise

Don't change this game no matter what tactics are performed by participants. "All A Please" has the same chances as any row of A,B,X. The main target of gaming is fun, fun and again fun. Jejimas "All A Plaease" has won this time, but many other times it did not. Have we yelled for changing the rules these other times? No! And we were right not to do so.

I could go one better -- if I could (a) find the snapshot and (b) put it online. I have a group photo of makushuta rikishi and fans, and the last in the line was Demon as a Waseda student. (I was looking pretty young myself (Sigh...) ) I was told later by another member of the group that his band was just beginning to take off. A year or so back I gave a copy to the sumo museum under a 'privacy' advisory. Orion

Jonidan kettei-sen, lower division yusho presentations, Makuuchi dohyo-iri, and tate yobidashi Hideo with hair. Makuuchi action and presentation stuff still to come, will try and have it done tomorrow.
