I talked to some sumo fans who were at the Royal Albert Hall in 1991.

Day 15 Being ranked low in juryo and entering the final day at 7-7 is often not a great place to be as it tends to mean a final opponent who is both much higher-ranked and highly motivated (promotion contender or other 7-7). And such was the case for Wakaikari as well, who ran into former maegashira and all around prospect Hakuoho and not so unexpectedly lost to finish 7-8. That was also bad, bad news for Athenayama, while Yarimotsu benefited to take the yusho. Congratulations! It's Yarimotsu's first LKS championship, following one same-score runner-up result and two more regular jun-yusho. Ryoshishokunin finishes as doten runner-up in this one, having lost the leaders' bracket playoff right on the first one with a too-low prediction on Hoshoryu. The final standings: Day 15: 10/10 Decisions, TB 12 Pos Player Pts TB 1 Yarimotsu 7 13 2 Ryoshishokunin 7 11 3 ryafuji 6 12 4 Athenayama 6 13 4 Bunbukuchagama 6 11 4 Holleshoryu 6 13 7 Asashosakari 5 12 7 Profomisakari 5 12 9 chishafuwaku 5 10 9 Oskanohana 5 14 11 Hakuryuho 4 13 11 Jejima 4 16 11 WAKATAKE 4 15 TB bonus for three players.

I'll chuck in some salt and join the fray (h/t Fujisan) for whichever of these games gets going.

Oh how I love those passionate heated debate of football enthousiasts! I think this whole Club World Cup idea is total BS, I do not plan to follow it and couldn't care less who wins it (provided it is not PSG, they would be so insufferable if they ever win anything significant) Not a big fan of ladies' football but I'll help fill up the ranks if needed, or I'll gladly leave an entrace slot to someone more interested than me

@Andonishiki When will you finally learn about the history? Did you know that in 1963 TSV 1860 München was not qualified for the Bundesliga as per the 12 year evaluation (Zwölfjahreswertung). Rudi Gramlich, one of the few members of the decision committee, and at this time president of Eintracht Frankfurt, thus hating the local rival Kickers Offenbach, under all circumstances wanted to avoid Offenbach joining the Bundesliga. He came up with some dubious argument after the criteria were fixed and announced. The champions of the five existing Oberliga should be given a place automatically. 1860 was lucky to be champion in Oberliga South in 1963 as they were only # 7 on the list following the original criteria. With this argument Kickers Offenbach, #5 on the list, was robbed as only five teams from Oberliga South were qualified for the Bundesliga. After a few successful years when 1860 was #1 in Munich and even became German Champions in 1966 the slow but steady decrease began. They simply bungled their excellent starting position. Mismanagement, wrong decisions, wherever you looked at. And it was not money, but hard work and talent (Maier, Beckenbauer, Müller, et al.) that made Bayern München not only #1 in Munich but in whole Germany. Any Deutsche Mark and Euro Bayern spent in the following years was a result of their excellent management, especially by Robert Schwan and Uli Hoeneß. I know this is hard to accept for a TSV 1860 hardliner, but this is simply the truth. Would be great if you could acknowledge the hard and successful work by Bayern officials to make them a top club instead of talking the usual rubbish. Believe it or not, as a Bayern supporter I was happy when 1860 came back from 2nd League to Bundesliga. As a witness in Frankfurter Waldstadion I was even rooting for 1860 when they won the deciding match vs. Arminia Bielefeld in June 1977. Sad to see them now in the middle of nowhere in 3rd League, far away from chances to be promoted. And you're absolutely right, it's about passion, not money! Ganzohnesushi

Chiyonoumi on the 8th had an intai - thanks - encouragement rally - to thank his local supporters in Kuroshio, Kochi, with about 120 of them at the event - including PR for the danpatsushiki on Feb. 2nd. He is contract teacher at Tokyo Metropolitan agric. products high school now, studying for the teacher's employment examination next year. o o

why dont we rather play the Women's Euro 2025 happening in Switzerland ? 16 Teams only, we'll find enough players for sure. The final draw will take place on 16 December 2024. ... my enthusiam for the FIFA Club WC is quite limited... adding more games to an already superbusy match schedule for the top players. i refuse to support any clubs, which didnt exist 20 years ago, luring great players away from Europe with oil money - which is probably a selfish way of thinking. my beloved team, the mighty TSV 1860 Munich, is competing in the third German League. Every home game is sold out, 15000 spectators, very old stadium, built in 1911, located in the city center, not somewhere in a remote suburb location close to a highway, an airport or a garbage compostation plant like the second team in Munich. It's about passion, not money

It's not very common for all top 4 Juryo rikishi to be promoted to Makuuchi, as is likely to happen on the next banzuke. There's 18 total in the database, and 11 of those are in the 6-basho era. However, it last happened after Kyushu last year, and when I saw the results of the query I failed to recognize that at first, thinking that a recent Kyushu basho was going to be the most recent because of last basho, when it really isn't because the next banzuke isn't out yet. http://sumodb.sumogames.de/Query.aspx?show_form=0&group_by=basho&having=4&form1_rank=J1-J2&form2_rank=m

That's certainly very close to implying that it's one of the six major tournaments, yes. It seems to do everything but outright state it, and you'd definitely have to know otherwise to think to the contrary.
