Was it a "dead body" situation?

Goeido feels that with Haru intai, Hak injured, Kise on the edge of intai and the young boys still very slightly behind him, this is his golden and probably last opportunity to become the next Japanese yokozuna. He seems to be very determined, healthy, physically/mentally on the top and my bet is that this will be his basho. The next step in March is an other question.

Takayasu the sole leader (for at least 10 minutes) -
I also tried to record the streaming JPplayer with VLC, which is possible, but the quality was not too good. Some forums recommend Bandicam as best stream recording gadget.

I tried JPplayer yesterday and the registration process is really tricky without Japanese language knowledge. After you pay with paypal, you will see on the screen the download link and a password to the download. Observe to download JPplayer, not the advertised other softwares. After the download, you have to register as first time user. At the registration process the first line is your user name, the second and third lines are your e-mail address, the fourth is your chosen password (not the same as the download password). Register the same e-mail address which is connected to your paypal account, otherwise the system will not find your payment. The quality of JPplayer is only slightly better than Niji (when it works) but the numbe of available channels is huge.

Has everybody realized that you can adjust the aspect ratio at NIJI? If you right-click on the NIJI screen and choose the lower option in the pop-up window, then you can stretch the left end of the NIJI screen with left-clicking of the mouse, as long as you want, adjusting the desired aspect ratio.

Will Takarafuji drop to juryo with 0-15 result? Will one win save him? -
Wow, that's very good, thank you. Now you can stretch the Niji screen and watch it in wide screen mode.( How can I insert picture from my computer?)

For me Niji works pefectly now

UBS is rather acceptable today (http://www.ubs.mn/ubslive1.php)

Correct, log in with e-mail address and password.

NIJI sound seems to be o.k. today

I spent 5 dollars for 30 days testing of the Keyhole TV. Picture quality between UBS and NIJI, perhaps closer to UBS. Audio more or less o.k. All in all NIJI is better.

Where did you get the port number and file name from, the ':8902/tv.mpeg' bit? Would like to understand where this magic comes from... Would be proud to say that I elaborated it, but the fact is that all my brightness comes from the net, mainly from this forum: http://yuzuruhanyu.forumatic.com/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=267

Thanks a lot for the detailed walk-through! will try it! Do you also know how to adjust the distorted sound? ;-) Unfortunately not :-(. I tested Niji just now and the sound is still "orkish". The reason was not the excess interest during the sumo stream but some technical malfunction at Niji.

And finally if you are willing to spend some money for really good quality stream, than: http://jpplayer.com/ 38 channels (including NHK), 30 dollars/month.
-
If the 4:3 aspect ratio bothers you at Niji TV, you can watch the stream inside VLC and set the aspect ratio manually to 16:9. 1. Log into Niji and play one of the available channels. 2. Open VLC, go to Media -> Open Network Stream, and paste the following URL: http://127.0.0.1:8902/tv.mpeg. Click Play. Mute the sound in Niji media player. 3. Adjust the aspect ratio from the 'Video' menu. Barring video jitters, you'll get a picture-perfect feed.

Actually around 10 years ago there was a system named "keyhole tv" which streamed Japanese Tv's (NHK included), but very low quality. Now I checked and it still exists: https://www.oiseyer.com/index3-e.php The quality is somewhat improved, but NIJI is better. Other disadvantage is that it is free for only a limited time, whereafter the premium key costs 5 dollars for 30 days.

For me the Mongolian link works with Chrome but not with Explorer. The Niji is worse quality today, specially the sound. Probably more people watch during week-end.

In desperation I digged in the jungle of the net and found the following temporary solution: http://www.myniji.tv/ You have to download the software, register with email address, user name and password, activate the registration code and after activation log in with email address and password. Now you can watch several Japanese streaming TV's, among others NHK. Here in Hungary picture quality acceptable but little sluggish, however you can listen Japanese commentator and watch replays. Better than nothing.
