Thanks! Strictly speaking, all these results are better than 11J-10-10 (they have either a yusho or an ascending order), except Kyokuni's 10-9-12J who is somewhat similar, but was 50 years ago. But after all, maybe it's not unthinkable for Asanoyama.

I'm not sure to understand. If Goeido does not retire, he will be Sanyaku. Then there will be 4 wrestlers with better numbers than Endo: Asanoyama (S1e), Goeido (S1w), Shodai (K1e) and Hokutofuji (K1w). Why would they automatically create an extra Komusubi spot for Endo? In the last three comparable cases, the 9-6 M1 wrestler was stucked at M1. In this situation, even if Goeido does not retire, we will have 7 sanyaku, thus an M18e rank. Where am I wrong?

Even if we are not going down that road, I think it's still a little too early to rule out a "legitimate" ozeki promotion for Asanoyama. A 12-3 Yusho, I think, would more or less put everyone in agreement. Still, Shodai would have to lose twice, but he's capable of it, so to speak... Satoyama has announced his intai after his last bout of Kyūshū basho 2018. As he remained in the paid ranks for 47 tournaments (and especially because he was one of my favorite wrestlers ), I think he deserves a dedicated topic! Looking back at his career, I was surprised to find that it was not as regular as I thought. He reached the top division fairly quiclky (for his 19th tournament), then stayed in the upper Jūryō/lower Makuuchi zone for around 2 years. He then suddenly droped directly from Makuuchi to Makushita (with 7 consecutive makekoshi, without injury it seems?) and was unable to come back to the salary ranks for nearly four years, going as low as Ms30. One could then expect, at best, that he would become an elevator rikishi between Makushita and Jūryō. However, it was at this time that he began his "2nd career" as a Jūryō mainstay, because he didn't drop back to Makushita for almost six consecutive years, with 4 more apparitions in Makuuchi. In the only tournament I've ever attended (Kyūshū 2015 Day 2), I gathered courage to shout in an ostensible way the names of my two favorite wrestlers from my 4th rank Tamari seat - Satoyama and Harumafuji - shortly before the start of their bout. I may be wrong, but I think they create an extra Sekiwake or Komusubi spot only if a rikishi really deserves it (by the numbers), or if there is absolutly nobody to take his sanyaku spot . Here, it seems to me that neither of the two conditions is met for Mitakeumi to stay.

What are the chances of Irodori geting promoted to Jūryō with a 6-1? Exactly 4 years ago, Ishiura became sekitori from the same position (ms6) with this result, in a basho where Tochinowaka intai'ed. (only 1 intai, not 2 though). Up to what rank a 4-3 is better than a 6-1 from ms6? Because this time, we could have Takanofuji at 4-3 (ms3) versus Irodori at 6-1 (ms6). One step further: what if they fight together for their last bout? Will the winner take the lead over the loser?
