Wow, it's really sympathetic that she mentions - and even praises - Dewanosato and Katayama. Now I may have to find a new hate object... (Sigh...)

... and do you have some hints for less talented escapers? (In a state of confusion...)

A new chance for everyone? B-) Even for those who guessed something silly like "6-9" for instance? ;-) Just want to notice: It's great to see 8 different flags in Sanyaku of the current Banzuke. And 23 different flags in total (the 'question marks' not even considered). (Sign of approval)

I know there was a thread on Asashoryu's "look" already, but I didn't find it. (Shaking head...) The german Eurosport commentator just told the following story about to whom Asa "gives the eye" after each bout. He heard it from a native Mongolian: It's a mongolian custom, that a mother blesses her son when he is away from home (gone to war... or to a basho). And she does that by sprinkling milk into the direction where her son is now. So Asashoryu is looking into the direction where his mother is (or into the tv cams) - to receive her blessing. So that's another weird explanation. And this one sounds much more interesting than that Uchidate story. (Shaking head...) Can a mongolian member confirm that there really is such a custom in Mongolia? ;-)

I just created a Baruto avatar... Feel free to use it. :'-( I could easily paint a few more on request, but it's really difficult to find good photos of lower division rikishi.

I just made up another version: :-) In this article: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,3-1603676,00.html (we talked about it some days ago) Asa says about an Asashoryu action figure "It looks like me, but the face doesn't show my seriousness, I wish they had made the face more fierce." So "fierceness" seems to be very important to him. :-) Well - after a bout is over, they always take lots of photos of the winner. :-D My idea is that he wants to see a picture of a serious Yokozuna in every newspaper - so he's making the face for photographers. :-)

There is an objective formula for sekitori, but practically it never works: :-D A 10-5 should normally make you rise five ranks ( 10 - 5 = 5 ), a 6-9 should theoretically make you fall three ranks ( 6 - 9 = -3 ). But as Burainoan explained, it's very important how well the other rikishi do - because this formula usually leads to the result that more than two rikishi qualify for the same rank.

Oh, there are many other stories on that look... The most convincing story was this one: He's in a way 'giving the finger' to Miss Uchidate (who's sitting about there). The look means something like "Me Tarzan, you nothing". ;-)

Well, imagine you are Maegashira #4... - 10-5 could make you a sanyaku rikishi (Komusubi very likely, maybe even Sekiwake) ;-) - 9-6 should make you rise to about Maegashira #1 (Sign of approval) - 8-7 should normally lead to a promotion to Maegashira #3 (Shaking head...) - 7-8 always leads to a demotion, normally to Maegashira #5 (Shaking head...) - 6-9 might make you drop to Maegashira #7 :'-( But you never really know how many ranks exactly you will rise or fall. The only thing you can absolutely rely on is that more wins than losses lead to promotion, while more losses than wins lead to demotion. That's why everyone aims for a 8-7 - only then you can be sure that you saved your rank. (Shaking head...)

Just close your eyes and enjoy... (Punk rocker...)

I want to see a hardcore-bulldozer-type of sumo: - 400 kg of man power B-) - a big clash (Jumping on the other guy...) - one man flying off the dohyo :-/ - fear in the eyes of the audience in first row (Yikes...) - no mercy (Punk rocker...) Oshi rules. (Applauding...)
-
"Congratulations on your choice of a high quality refrigerator. (In a state of confusion...) It will be delivered by tomorrow, we recommend payment by installments." - "Huh???" (Yikes...)
-
Not much hair left... My first idea was something like "Which Oyakata was this again?". (Neener, neener...)

Well, i'd rather expect henka-ing, pulling, leg-grabbing and so on. But if it's really so common to push much heavier opponents out of the ring - forget what I said above... (Blinking...) Didn't Mainoumi usually try izori on Konishiki? (Sigh...)
-
240-kg-mountain Orora has been yorikiri-ed off the dohyo by somebody who has 100 kg less body mass. (Blinking...) I wish I had seen that. (Sigh...)

... and 2nd Day Schedule for Makuuchi as well.Kokkai will meet Kotooshu on day 2 - I'm looking forward to that bout. (Enjoying a beer...)

If I'd ride such a bike through Berlin the police would probably stop me, as it has no headlights and no reflectors. (Shaking head...) Don't they have such regulations in Japan? And the Yokozuna should be a good example for kids and wear a helmet. (Enjoying a beer...)

Yesterday a friend of mine asked me, how Leonid Brezhnev, ruler of the Soviet Union in the 1970s, could tolerate a Japanese emperor in his territory. After some confusion I understood what my friend meant: he thought that Japan used to be part of the Soviet Union! :-( I had to tell him that Japan has always been a sovereign state - and that it's an island east of China. :-) Well, this story reminded me of the "Fool's World Map" project, which I was reading about some months ago. This project tries to create a map of the world, how fools imagine it: Some of the ideas behind this map: :-P "Due to a Texan who thinks "Japan is accessible from Texas by car", Japan and Texas is land-attached." "Since a Japanese fool had thought that Europe is a name of a country, a country named Europe appeared in Europe." "Black Sea appeared in Africa. It seems that fools tend to think that anything in black belong in Africa." "..." If you have any ideas what the map should look like... you can make your own suggestions here: http://www.zen-style.com/ :-P

Well... his left leg is not completely stretched out. (Whistling...) Even the kitty in my avatar does it better. :-( (In a state of confusion...)

Hi, could somebody please give me a small introduction in how to write Kanji or Kana with my computer? :-) I installed the japanese standard true type fonts (Batang, Gulim, Simsu, Simhei and so on) - but I don't know how to make Kanji with my standard keyboard. I tried it a little bit... (Whistling...) Well, I think I have to enter special letter combinations? As this seems to be a rather difficult matter - maybe someone can offer a link to an online instruction. Thanks in advance. :-D

Now that he's 35 he finally gets his own room? (Sigh...) Congratulations, Dewanosato, you're an adult now... (Punk rocker...) :-D

Wow, I think I got it. (Whistling...) It was easier than I thought... 琴、 山、 踊。 琴ノ若 曙

Thanks, that was very helpful - I'm a lot further now. (Whistling...) Now I only have to find out, how to write Kanjis like "Koto", "Yama", "Odori" and so on. But I'm on the right way... :-D らしらすにらな ラシラスニラナ オドリオウ
