While Dapeng's thesis is essentially correct, the timing is slightly off: once Hakuho reached the upper Makushita he began to dominate: consecutive 6-1s, then a mere two basho to get through Juryo.
And while there may be another future dai-yokozuna somewhere on the banzuke, there isn't another Hakuho. I don't expect I'll see another rikishi even approach the records he is continuing to extend. His dominance makes both sumo and the sumo games more boring (or predictable, if one prefers) but we should all appreciate him for what the greatness he exhibits. We are not going to see his like again.
