Well, the way I read the poll stats, members who have ever done more than a couple of these things during those years of their lives are currently in a firm minority, ie. 31%. Perhaps this poll will encourage more folks to experiment with all these potential ways to go off the rails a bit? Maybe we should do the same poll in a year's time and see if anything has changed. We could see if Qttp has moved a little bit more towards "Being an obnoxious jerk" on his splendid diagram, or even, perhaps, whether Jesinofuji has moved a little bit in the other direction, ie. towards the point on the x-axis where he would be "Living by the rules all the time". jomojo

Zenjimoto, Any chance of an update on the Chaingang Rankings after the last basho? cheers jomojo
-
They're available right on the Chaingang site now. Oddly enough the link's only on http://moti.sumogames.com/chaingang.html but not on http://chaingang.sumogames.com/ even though the page is otherwise the same... Many thanks, Asashosakari, for that. By the way, Takanorappa, Zenjimoto gives some explanation for his Chaingang rankings in the following thread: http://www.sumoforum.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=1615 Best wishes, jomojo

(Applauding...) Bonne anniversaire mon ami des jeu du sumo. jomojo

Hey Golynohana, I've just clicked on your link to your sumogames results. A great start to your career! I was particularly admiring your results in the Daily Games - 14 kachi-koshi at 16 attempts across 5 games and three basho. (Laughing...) With form like this, you look certain to become a future star of the ever-expanding sumogames world. jomojo

I know what you mean, Fujisan. I enjoy ISP but have made little progress on the banzuke - in my case though this is due to having several MK's along the way. Keep up your good work on the virtual dohyo. jomojo

Please stay Zentoryu I want to apologise to Zentoryu for the offence I have caused you by the way I have expressed my opinion either here or on the Benchsumo list. jomojo

I don't know how people keep on getting better records than me in this game. It makes me very suspiccious that something is going on which I am not aware of ... I believe I would have been a lot more successful by now if it wasn't for these other people coming up with better strategies than me. This gives them an unfair advantage over others, including me. I mean how am I supposed to compete against people like Gernobono and Jakusotsu who keep on getting such good scores? Oh, never mind. jomojo

Thank you for making me aware of this, Naifuzan. I hope you are not insinuating, though, that our fine Benchsumo torikumi-makers such as Zentoryu are culpable for not providing me with my fair share of "less points" opponents? I would prefer to continue to believe it to be all in the lap of the Sumo Gods, than to call Zentoryu's motives into question. In my opinion, like Jakusotsu, Zentoryu also puts in a lot of effort to help run this fantasy sumo game. But that's just my opinion. You go for him, all guns blazing, if you really feel it to be in the spirit of keeping this game fun to play. jomojo

Bonne anniversaire. (Jumping in ecstasy...) May your Benchsumo odes return with gusto. Here's one which I will dedicate to you. jomojo When feeling up or feeling down. A rikishi between divisions. Your way is noble and your career long. To belong in one place is not your way. Onwards and upwards would miss out on half of what life has to offer. Gone are the days of youth. O, but within the bosum of the Sumo Forum Ichimon, they can be re-lived for ever.

Matta Masters has snuck up to second place in TeamTipSpiel on Day 12 (no thanks to me). Congrats to the rest of the team. jomojo
-
No, as it happens. Gibmaatsuki must have woken from his winter slumber all by himself. jomojo
-
Did your gift from Manimiwaka arrive intact?
-
I wonder if we will see a historically low-scoring day, when Asashoryu's winning streak finally comes to an end?
-
Good question. Although I suppose Gibmaatsuki can be excused having cold feet once in a while here at the North Pole.

What's all this challenging stuff? How does that work?! (I am not worthy...) Yo bro! Hope you have had a refreshing shower out there in steamy Hong Kong. I've copied below the Team Challenge rules from the ODDSUMO website for you and all other interested parties. Keep up the good work with your ODDSUMO team. My own adrenelin rush this basho is coming from having survived the Chaingang massacre through to at least Day 4. cheers, jomojo * TEAM CHALLENGE * This new feature basically allows you to "steal" points away from other teams. All your team needs to do is to out-perform the challenged team on the day the challenge is issued. Of course you will lose the team points you have bet, if your team fails and gets less points than the challenged team. The "wager" (ANTE) set for the challenge will be subtracted from the losing team and added to the winning team's score. Any team captain is able to challenge one team only once a day. The captain of the challenged team will get an email notice of the challenge, and may decline the challenge. The captain is not allowed to refuse a fight twice in a row. You will be able to challenge any teams that were not already challenged by another on that particular day, even if you have refused another challenge from a different team. For a captain to challenge another team (or for their team to be challenged) they need to have at least three rikishi in their team. There are three ways a challange would NOT count: - a refusal - less than three members of each team making their picks on the particular day (both teams have to foot at least three entries for the day) - a tie (of course) You can risk between 1 to 5 of your team points for a challenge. IMPORTANT: the team challenge has NO EFFECT on the individual points! As always, the points of the three best members of the particular day will still be used to calculate the winning team. The results of the challenges can be viewed at RESULTS (team challenge).

Ah ... OK. :-) Vices. But "vice" already has a double meaning in English, no? Not that I want to put a vice on your linguistic creativity or anything. And I don't think my vices are any worse than yours. Or vice versa. :-) Or even as Caesar proclaimed in 47 BC, when he popped over to England to tame the heathen tribes: "Veni, Vidi, Vice!" Perhaps a bit like the Vice-roys of old, when India was a part of the British Empire. Or somewhat like our current forays into Arabia too, I suppose. jomojo

I think you lost me somewhere around "Viz-ces" ... :-) :-) (Oops! ) It was supposed to be a pun on the English word "Vice" via a transformation for the German for Deputy, ie. "Vize". Hence "Viz-ces". However, trying to make one word pun across two languages is probably pushing it a bit. jomojo

I've put the following notice on the TipSpiel Oyakata thread ... hope it makes some sort of sense in German: "F

I'll tell you what, I'll have to swat up a bit on my facts about our team ... beginning with our name. I don't know what is the Matta with me today. Or should that be I don't know what me is the Matta? I must Master Matters pronto. I mean I must Matta Masters as soon as can be. Exil's deadline clocks are all ticking on my desktop and the stress is beginning to tell on me. jomojo

Okey-kokes, I'll give being Oyakata for Matter Masters a whirl, seeing as being deputy team mascot looks like it is out of my league. Thanks again for your votes of confidence. On with the games! jomojo

Another option, click on RESULTS then click on the following link: PREVIOUS ... individual ... Haru 2004 where you'll find last basho's results ranked by points total, but also providing the equivalent win-loss record. jomojo

Thanks for the explanations Yubi et al. Happy Easter by the way, anyone who's celebrating at this time of year. best wishes, jomojo

Could one of the administrators help me understand ... Every time I post, after my name the following appears: "Warn: 0%" and then five little red boxes. Why is this? Have I set up my account differently to others, as I don't notice this appearing for other members? Thanks for your help. jomojo
