I'm reluctant to post here, as it is the sub-forum for SFI members. However, this one does appear to be a more general question. So for sekihiryu's benefit, I've copied below my post, when Golynohana asked the same question last month on a different thread. cheers, jomojo Hi Golynohana, You could check out "FAQ - A Short History in Quotes" at the North Pole Ichimon Website: www.chijanofuji.com/northpole.html (scroll down to below our members gallery). This FAQ section kicks off with: *** "What is an ichimon in Bench Sumo and how did they come about?" *** There are currently five ichimon in Benchsumo, as Zenjimoto mentioned, and each of these has their own website, which are all worth a look. You can find links to all of them at the following website: http://takanorappa.com/ichimons.htm Takanorappa has initiated a prize for the Ichimons to compete towards each basho. This is called the "Ichimon Championship Flag". The link to read the rules for the ICF prize can also be found at http://takanorappa.com/ichimons.htm Do feel welcome to join in the fun. cheers, jomojo

Hi Fujisan - I'll let Manimiwaka know - I'll copy your post here to the NPI mailing list. Depending on how long you are likely to be without email access, if you want, you could send me a private message here at the Sumo Forum with your "snail mail" address, and I can then forward this on to Manimiwaka directly. cheers, jomojo

Hi Furanohana, this worked for me ... Go to the Results page. At the top of the page you should now see a little drop-down menu with "Haru 2004" written there, and a little "Go" button next to it. Click on the Go button. Results then appear. Looks like you scored a bit better than average. cheers, jomojo

I clicked on the Rules link at oddsumo.de and found this tucked away right at the bottom of the English version: cheers jomojo " * QUOTAS * The single quotas are calculated by - the differences between ranks of the banzuke - the current basho results of each rikishi - the last contest between the two rikishi Details will follow... "

Can anyone give me a brief translation of how "Teamtipspiel 2004" is going to work. I'm vaguely aware that there are now teams in this game and I would quite like to join one. (In a state of confusion...) cheers, jomojo

(In a state of confusion...) If you are only now considering to enter Benchsumo this basho, you have already procrastinated too long. The requisite chunk of your time has been and gone. You did not take heed soon enough. You have not got in early. You have missed out. jomojo

Try reading the other sentences in Zentoryu's post. jomojo WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU WAITING FOR???? If it's to see who is kyujo, YOU DON'T HAVE TO. If one of your selected rikishi drops out, you can change him for someone else. The key right now is to just enter a team! Pick anybody, just enter a team! You can change it anyway you like all the way up until the bouts start on Sunday, but you HAVE to get a default lineup in NOW!!!!!!

A rookie to your game, but an experienced and highly skilled cyber-rikishi, as well as my Massashigawa-beya mate :-D Congratulations to everyone ni CiberSumo! (Applauding...) Gaijingal, does she play many games then? jomojo

I'm more of a daily games man myself, I've cut back to just a couple of the pre-basho games. I find more drama and interest in being able to make picks each day, and hopefully change my fortunes. jomojo

@kintamayama i am not sorry to hurt your feeings with my TONE because i did not intend to... @ gernobono - looks like Kintamayama wasn't refering to the tone of your post gerno, as his quote is from Doitsoyama's post. Thanks for the clarification anyway. Hey Matta Masters - we need to stop being distracted by these mono-ii. I see we slipped from first place today ... Day 11. Let's keep our focus for the four remaining days of play. :-) jomojo

Yep. Haru basho 2003, Day 14. (Name withheld to protect the unfortunate. (Laughing...)) :-) Woo-hoo! It was me! In jomojo's very brief career in this game, he achieved the "Upside-Down RotoSumo" record! :-D jomojo

I have never been a mascot before... Would that be a comflict of interest to be one team's mascot, while being a rival team's captain? :-D Interesting philosophical point Zenjimoto. Any views on this, everyone? How about this for a first roll of our collective philosophical dice ... I think I could use an analogy from Go. Where you are the first stone put near a corner of the board marking out your team's territory, hence you are the captain of one team. On the other hand, this first stone helps the other team to know which other part of the board could then be their territory to counterbalance the first team. Hence you could be our team's mascot, counterbalancing our all-conquering tendencies, keeping our feet firmly on the ground, and rooted in the reality of a world with contrasting views. Where more than one valid perception of reality can coexist side-by-side. On a Go board there is room for simultaneous multiple strategies. It sometimes feels to me like there is far too much room out there to fill, as those Go games can take hours to complete. In the same way, the stern, focused TipSpiel Captain of one team could be viewed from a different perspective as a cute, cuddly mascot for another team. Allowing for the full expression of different sides of your extensive personality. (Nodding yes...) jomojo
