    Chaingang Record

I was wrong - everyone lost on day 14! :-P Yes, that was an unexpected finish. jomojo

    Chaingang Record

And six cyber-rikishi still in with two days to go! Lots of clever picks were made on Day 13. This contest is really going down to the wire. Great to see everyone's skills levels improving (apart from mine - selected Miyabiyama on Day 1 and was out straight away). ;-) jomojo

    japanese games

(Showing respect...) Me too. (Applauding...) Hey Amanogawa, any chance you could put a post on the Japanese mailing list, asking if anyone there would mind doing an English version of the entry forms and rules for some of the Japanese games, a bit like Zenjimoto has done (in reverse) for Sekitori-Oracle? best wishes, jomojo

    Bench Deadline Almost Here

Hmmmm maybe not then. One more win followed by three losses-Its gonna be another one of those bashos. Hey Fujisan, looks like I might meet you on a "virtual Benchsumo" cyber-dohyo sooner than we both thought, courtesy of the Kintamayama Challenge Cup proposal (Applauding...) - see Jejima's posting below: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bench_sumo/message/11099 cheers jomojo

    Sumogames Query

    - Could a link to Fantasy Sumo be made from the sumogames webpage? - Is GISP permanently out of action? jomojo
  9. jomojo

    Its got to be asked.

I'm really interested to know people's views on this too. To kick things off, here's a quote from Mike Weseman's pre-basho comments from sumotalk.com cheers, jomojo "Asashoryu's got nothing to prove anymore. He's won three of the last four basho, he's won a tournament as a Yokozuna, and now it's just a question of "how great can he become?" With all the pressure and scrutiny off of his performance in the ring, I think Asashoryu relaxes a bit this basho. On top of that, this tournament will be held outside of Tokyo, which means anything can happen, so for some reason I just don't see Asashoryu dominating the rest of the field. If Asa can jump out to another 8-0 start, he's the favorite because Asashoryu has proven that once he's the sole leader, he's not giving anything up. But I just have this feeling someone will get to him early forcing him to fight from behind."

    Super Banzuke

(Protesting...) with 64 participants this basho (excluding the monkey), will sumotalk's "Fantasy Sumo" be included in next month's Super Banzuke? cheers, jomojo

    Juryo Game

(In a state of confusion...) Hey, I like the innovations Hoshifransu has added to the entries for the Juryo game this basho: http://juryo.sumogames.com/ I like those good ideas. cheers, jomojo

    Juryo Game

Well, I did my duty and gained a 7-8 make-koshi last basho - and shot down the banzuke as a result. So it's somebody else's turn (In a state of confusion...) this basho ... I hope.

    Juryo Game

(You got mail #2...) Hi Fujisan, I'm okay thanks. Summer hols beckon this month - I'm off down to the Devon coast near Exeter with my wife for ten days. Just happens to coincide with the last three days of the basho. So, I'm running through the best way to explain to her how I'll need to spend an hour in an internet cafe each day during that period completing my sumogame entries. How does this sound? "Being on holiday with you right now is my number one priority - I want to spend twenty-three hours of the day with you. My number two priority is trying to gain my kachi-koshi in Benchsumo, so I'll just spend a single hour on that!" How are you doing? By the way, on the topic of Benchsumo, can we recruit you into the North Pole Ichimon? The ichimons are basically there to provide you with some other players to cheer on and support. Right now all the British and Dutch players have headed off to the North Pole, along with members of a Viennese bridge-playing club, and some other folks, who prefer to live on the wild-side of sumogame-playing. Let me know if this suits you too. cheers, jomojo

    Invitation to play Sekitori-Toto & Sekitori-Oracle

hi Kashunowaka, you scored 76 points in GISP. you were in joint 10th place (along with with me). so, well done. there were a total of 75 players and the top score was 83 by Pastanoyama. cheers, jomojo :-(

    Most popular comedian

For me, here in the UK, it would be the Scottish comedian Billy Connelly. His stand-up shows are full of belly laughs from start to finish. For best comedies of all time ... it would have to be Monty Python. And best comedy film ... well, American actors, with a British Director ... "American Beauty". ciao for now. jomojo (Blinking...)

    Bench Deadline Almost Here

yes, he explains it somewhat in the following posting: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bench_sumo/message/9438 by the way, thanks for all your efforts Zentoryu on bringing us the daily Benchsumo Makuuchi torikumi over many basho - and for your head-to-head commentries that add spice to the build-up for these matches. cheers, jomojo (Blinking...)

    Bench Deadline Almost Here

(In a state of confusion...) oh, right ... er ... Fujisan how about we pencil in our first *forced* meeting on the cyber-dohyo for a year or two from now, assuming we both make it in Makuuchi. I'll be waiting for you. In the meantime do come and visit us at the North Pole ichimon, croissants and baked beans and other European delicacies are provided by our Captain Boltono. Don't be put off by his green colour. He is a rather amusing fellow in his saner moments. (Blinking...) caio for now. jomojo.

    Day 3 comments

Another "tell it as it is" comment from Mike Wesemann at sumotalk. http://www.sumotalk.com/mike.htm "This basho is signed, sealed, and done. Allow me to be the first to congratulate Asashoryu on his first yusho as a Yokozuna, and his third tournament victory in the last four tries. I know we're only three days in, but I've seen enough." cheers, jomojo

    Bench Deadline Almost Here

I haven't had any problems myself with the following results link: http://www.benchsumo.com/results.asp To catch up on all the other Benchsumo news and standings, check out the latest messages posted at the Benchsumo yahoo group: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bench_sumo/ Hope this helps. cheers, jomojo

    Day 1 comments

I've popped in an amusing little quote below from Mike Wesemann at Sumotalk - http://www.sumotalk.com/mike.htm on Musoyama's Day 1 (lack of) performance. jomojo ;-) "As for Musoyama, where does he think holding both hands in tight near his chest after the tachi-ai is going to get him? Come out with the tsuppari or at least go for your opponents belt. Don't just sit there like a standing fetus and let your opponents have their way."
