Talking Sumo With Raja and H. E. Demon Kakka
Kamitsuumi replied to Gaijingai's topic in Honbasho Talk
Kakka is just a title here, already translated as H.E. (His Excellency). Kogure is his birth family name, and he removed it from his stage name, in order to get rid of the human element. -
It's not a huge surprise. There are only so many ways (in general) to write 金 in cursive, and the shogi pieces have to have different calligraphy for the same 金 in order to differentiate the corresponding unpromoted piece. The last one (2021) was closer to nari-gin

Both East and West rikishi, as Terunofuji and Takatoriki (along with the actual last rikishi Tokushoryu) counted as makujiri yusho

The whole point of the "marrying into a kabu" system is that, for the oyakata, he cannot choose who to be his son, but at least he can choose his son-in-law (based on sumo ability) And the point of these minimum bashos is that the oyakata weren't very good with choosing son-in-laws

Nishonoseki & Onosato Given Stern Reprimand by NSK for Allowing Underage Drinking
Kamitsuumi replied to Kaninoyama's topic in Ozumo Discussions
Daily Shincho claims that Onosato forced the underaged rikishi to drink in the bathroom, and the current official announcement is a cover-up. -

The newspapers presumably follow some sort of style guide based on the joyo kanji. They seem to be among the strictest followers, since their job is to communicate with the masses

Hokuseiho Out- Hakuho Demoted - Miyagino-beya Closing
Kamitsuumi replied to Kaninoyama's topic in Ozumo Discussions
Magaki oyakata (ex-Ishiura) to be sent to Asakayama-beya in the latest plan Asakayama oyakata (ex-Kaio) says it's "absolutely not" about shutting down Miyagino-beya permanently, but rather it's a temporary measure. -
He's just finding partners for next basho

You are missing rikishi in Osaka-zumo that belonged to stables with links to the present myoseki. Kitajin, Nishiiwa (as Iwatomo in Osaka), Shiranui, Takasaki, and Takenawa were Osakan stables.
