Hello guys, I just found out that I am gonna be in Osaka during the 2nd week of the basho!!! Being my first time in Japan of course I wanna go to the basho. But I unfortunately found out that all 2nd week tickets are sold out... Please do any of you know a way how to get in even with sold out tickets? Thanks for all the tips PS: I am not looking for any partcular day but Days 11-13 would be ideal.

Truly horrible RIP Hibikiryu. On the other hand I don't agree with all of you putting blame on NHK/JSA for his death. I agree they have ancient and inadequate way of handling injuries and that need to be addressed ASAP but their late response is not the reason of Hibikiryu's death at all. Pulmonary embolism is a worldwide problem of trauma patients and it's hard to prevent even with top notch hospital care which I am sure Japan has and the condition often leads to death. I've just felt this need to be said althought it does not make in any easier to cope with. I just want people to understand that NSK has had nothing to do with this outcome. My deepest condolences to Hibikiryu's family and heya and all sumo world really. RIP young man :(

One of the brightest prospects is gonna make his Makushita debut in May at only 16 years and 9 months of age. His name is Yoshii Ko. Hopefully he stays healthy and continue to shoot up the ranks

Is there any way to sort the query by age? Etc. Search fot youngest rikishis to achieve division debut? Yoshii Ko may be one of the youngest to get to makushita in May. He will be 16 years and 9 months old.

Just doing some banzuke query research and there is a good chance that Hoshoryu gets Juryo 14 spot in November :)

They struggling more than I expected in makushita-joi. Struggling is probably a strong word but you know we probably all expected to see them in juryo by now Guys let me tell you we are all probably completely overlooking one more "future star" in the making : Tochikamiyama has 23-3 career record to date and he is currently at 4-1 from Makushita 54. He is 20 months younger than Hoshoryu and a year younger than Naya. He has already much bigger size than those 2 (and this could be bad for him to carry 150+ kgs from 18 yo) but I seen a couple bouts and this kid has already impressive technique.

Tomokaze is still without a makekoshi in his career... and I would say on his way to another KK. Today was a mega important win for Takakeisho, really don´t wanna jinx him but he has only Goeido, Tochinoshin and Abi to go from sanyaku. Tamawashi tomorrow and possibly Meisei, Okinoumi and Shodai... (just a guess) so given his current form (still yet to lose a "normal bout" ) and remaining schedule I think he is well on his way to 10 wins

Wow, impressive throw by Hoshoryu against 199kg Asabenkei. That was a good sumo, there is a chance he finally gets to Juryo in November. Fingers crossed

I partially agree with what you said, but I like their height more than the weight. Excessive weight with no muscles to back it up can kill a career very fast but I don´t consider them being too fat. Especially Daihisho at 179/132 he can easily grow to 195 and bulk up slowly to 170 kg or so ... In these numbers I can see the ideal yokozuna body, but nobody knows whats gonna happen in lets say 5 years

OK I know this post is like fishing in deep waters but I look at it from 3 angles 1. The current makuuchi rikishi: Takakeisho - I know his one dimensional sumo is limiting and he obviously has been set back with that knee but sometimes people seem to forget how young he actually is. With that being considered I think he can evolve his sumo and eventually get to yokozuna 2. Up and comer: Hoshoryu - the pedigree and statue are obvious signs and as written above if he puts some weight of course in the right way he can be unstoppable. 3. Wonderkids: Yoshii, Wakahiroto and Daihisho - OK many of you maybe don´t know who they are and I don´t blame you one bit for that. I know it´s crazy to put someone in yokozuna talks when they have only 2 ozumo tourneys in Jk and Jd. But these 3 seem to be mature beyond their years. They all posted great scores (5-2,5-2,5-2 and 6-1,5-2,5-2) and will be in upper Jd in September. The reasons I single them out here is their crazy young age - Yoshii turned 16 just 18 days ago, Wakahiroto and Daihisho will turn 16 in October and November respectively. The other reason is I like their measurements at such a young age - 177/150 for Yoshii, 174/140 for Wakahiroto and 179/132 for Daihisho. They all have already nice weight but they are well on track to grow to around and beyond 190 cm and we all know how important that is for a long term success in sumo. I may look like a fool in couple years if these kids from third group fail and that may easily happen but I really think we will see them shoot up the ranks and at least one of them will get the rope - what would be the bookmakers odds for that?

Aminishiki just fought his last bout. Unfortunately to have it end this way. Great career and great legacy. He is an inspiration
