Wow, that one even has a draw apart from that weird disappearing act at the end of the basho. I looked it up right now, last draw was in 1974, I wasn't aware of that. I may have to change the phrase to "those who won all the bouts they appeared for". BTW, no jinx for Takayasu today, he keeps going.

We should organize the KCD (Kimarite Complaints Department). Rare is the day I don't have a serious complain about one. That was in fact a beautiful kakenage. Now, Hoshoryu still has the pending subject of winning moving forward. For sure next basho, or maybe in September like bad students...

Yup, here you go, here's your cookie. If you can't eat it, you may have to change your browser and/or preferences.

I see what you did there

Next day I can also bottom the toto chart being the only one of 74 people with a negative result. This must be some kind of record. Poor guy mistakenly picked Hoshoryu instead of Takakeisho, cut him some slack.

Apart from zensho-yushos, query of the makuuchi rikishi who have appeared on the dohyo and ended up unbeaten on it in a basho (1958 onwards, because I don't want to deal with draws and all that nonsense). Takayasu could get to 9 wins and slot on 3rd place behind Kashiwado. And I said 3rd place because there's a famous one that's missing from the query due to the way it's done. I kinda remembered the feat happening but couldn't point it out and had to bout-query it up in a weird way as I wasn't going to scan manually 100+ of those kind of records. A cookie for the first one that remembers it and posts it. I scanned manually the 2 loss group to see if somebody had two fusen losses in a basho (and no more losses), couldn't find anything. If I'm forgetting somebody else (apart from the mysterious guy I mentioned), or somebody can improve the query, please do. EDIT:Actually, Atagoyama doesn't belong on the list, he's a loser.

Nice win today by Bushy to celebrate his 48th birthday. Here's hoping he makes it back to makuuchi. I don't expect much of him due to his old age, maybe he can muster a kanto-sho with a KK a-la Aminishiki. Chiyotaikai, bringing in hilarity in unexpected ways for more than 20 years. I queried that the other day but I didn't post it here. Record is pretty recent, Ichinojo. Query

I love the days when you top the toto charts with 23-9, yet you get 5 correct in SG and 4 points in bench.

Hakuoho should be going down too, unless he comes back and gets another pyrrhic victory. I wish he'd rather not. As for Kiryuko, he still has to pump those numbers up, those are rookie numbers.

We only need a comprehensive database of all the real sumo bouts to be able to cross-reference it with the benchsumo database. Preferably user friendly, easy to query and easy to handle. Then, the automation wizards could do their magic. Get, I dunno, some german guy on it, stat.

Godwin's law triumphs again.

BTW, off topic, if you want to know some weird crap, read why Spain has the same time than Germany being effectively two time zones to the west, which gives us the extra fun fact of Spain having one hour more than UK on the clocks but being further to the west on average.

Had to do the same long time ago. My timezone tends to be around 5-6 am. But I don't have anything per se against picking fusen-pai, as it is also annoying predicting somebody to win because you know his rival is in bad shape and get that win voided because the guy goes kyujo and fusen picks are disallowed. You have to live with that. I'm protesting against picking losers when you should pick winners and getting away with it. And I'm also protesting against the mockery of my guy Chiyoshoma. Just you wait @Ganzohnesushi, he's gonna be back in makuuchi in no time, struggling to kachi-koshi like in his best years.
-
He might be fighting Oki, you never know.
-
All of you's will never know the absolute elation of picking cleanly a poor injured bastard with a 0-9 record in lower juryo exactly the day he manages to win.
-
I'm sorry, I must have misread a report of a supposed break-in at Kataonami-beya. Here

Tamashoho was actually awarded the win. I don't know what I saw. Time to stop posting. Goodbye.
-
Hidenoumi stepped outside the dohyo before Tamashoho stumbled down. Excuse the small image, but I'm getting size issues and I'm too lazy to re-render the big picture. If you have access to today's juryo bouts, look it up.

It's not smart. It's dirty. You must strive for perfection and not pick a loser knowingly. Everyone that does the 2 fusen + 2 rikishi fighting each other should be banished. Even the ones that on regular days pick 2 "sure" winners and two rikishi fighting each other. The cherry on top is besmerching the good name of Chiyoshoma, first of his name, highest ranked rikishi of his very famous heya. He's merely too quick for pebleian eyes to appreciate the smoothness, righteousness and straightness of his moves. Surely a stalwart of proper sumo fighting.

Thanks for all the info. Is there an upper limit for rank to be able to do the yumitori-shiki? Makuuchi maybe? Is it another one of those unwritten rules that they'll rewrite as they go along?
-
Probably not, but they're even bragging about it, and you, sir, now are too. I'll keep calling it
-
I really was putting my faith in Tamashoho there, I imagined him jumping around weakly. Hakuoho only had to keep his cool as he always does and dispatch him easily, but if he can't even deal with this lower tier level of naughtiness, he'd be better taking some extra time off.
-
Terunofuji has the lower half of his body already there, neatly wrapped. As for Takakeisho, he might not be a mummy but he's a curse.
-
Imagine getting saved by the bell on that one and picking the solid Hakuoho the next day. Bunch of us did. We have a saying in spanish that goes like: "the sorrow of many is a fool's consolation". I'll have to go with that. And you both sirs @Asashosakari and @Jakusotsu playing dirty on quad. Shame on you. Maintain some competitive integrity, for Homer's sake. Look what a real man can achieve.

Tamashoho was robbed today. They didn't even have a look. Regarding Asanowaka, I see him in much better form, as if his neck or back problems are bothering him less (that's what I've been assuming this last year by his movements). If he makes it back to juryo, can he perform the bow twirling or do they have to find another one from makushita downwards to relieve Satonofuji? Luckily for them, Asanowaka can't get promoted next basho, but if he's on his game, he'll be back in no time. Maybe the responsibility of the bow twirling has healed him miraculously? Takayasu now can't even try to fool us believers even for a week. Very poor. He has more aches and pains than an old woman. Which brings me neatly to my next point: Kirishima's looking like one. Time to bring back that Kiribayama fella, he was good, get this impostor out of here.
