The rikishi we agreed on aren't doing all that well.

    Seki-Toto is down

Now that's completely weird because the same embarrassing thing happened to me - twice! I could not access the Toto page between 4 AM and 6 AM JST. I did not dare to post here because nobody else complained. At 6 AM JST I decided to post in this very thread. About 10 seconds (!) later I got access to the Toto page. Deeply embarrassed I deleted my post in this thread. About a minute later I was kicked out of Sekitori Toto. I waited until 7:30 AM JST without any chance of logging in, probably with a triple digit number of attempts. Then I've asked Asashosakari via PM if he could log in. About 10 seconds later I got access to the Toto page - again! And this time I managed to get my entry in. Weird. So that's what happened! I tried to reply to your post to report that I'd also tried and failed to log in several times but suddendly, your post was gone! Anyway, I just finished getting in and sending my entry so it is possible.

Here are everyone's selections once the kyujo replacements had been made.If you find that my list is different from yours, first check to see if any of yors were kyujo and then see if you responded in time to replace them. If you sent me a replacement choice, I entered it. Otherwise, I gave you the default replacement which is the rikishi chosen by Mukashi. Please let me know if there are any errors or miscommunications. If I have made a mistake, I wish to know so I can fix it. Wolfgangho and Senpai did not send me an entry this time. If there was a miscommunication somewhere and either of these did attempt to send me an entry, I would like to know about it. I don't expect everyone to stay with the game forever but no one had failed to return to the game until now so I want to make sure there hasn't been a lost email or some other problem. Are either of you reading this? Could you send a kyujo request or an official intai? Thanks to everyone once again for playing along with me. If this game continues to be so well supporting on it's one year anniversary, I'll be compelled to send some sort of prize to the yusho winner. The trouble is I'm a poor correspondant as far as non-electronic mail goes and I don't want to start disappointing the good people of the sumo gaming community with empty promises. Still, I would like to be able to follow the fine example of some of the other sumogame creators in rewarding their supporters and I've been a recipient of such generosity a few times now.Back to this tournament, the next step will be to compile and post some actual results for you. I've already missed posting results for Day 1 but I should be able to get it together for Day 2. The only thing standing in my way is March Madness! (Moti, are you following it?)

In the event of a tie, Genzai prefers the younger rikishi. The popularity data includes the drones Mukashi and Genzai so the most popular rikishi get a bonus selection from Genzai. Also, the top eight in popularity were all Mukashi selections. Of the rest, 5 of 6 were different so Mukashi and Genzai have 9 rikishi in common altogether. The least popular amongst Genzai's selections was Tokio from the Sd 26-30 group. Tokio was selected by Genzai over Ikehara due to his youth as they were equally popular amongst human players. Mukashi chose Daihoyama instead (and I chose Tokachiumi but had to replace him [with Ikehara] due to his kyujo which everyone else seemed to know about in advance since I was the only one to select him).

    Sandanme Game Haru 2007

After repeated rejections by the mail server, I'm giving up on sending kyujo warnings to these two players, Kotononami and Kachitakai. I hope both of you read this and make adjustments if necessary. I have given you the default replacements for your missing rikishi. Kotononami has THREE! I know I've sent mail to Kachitakai successfully before and I had at least one to Kotononami get though without being sent back but this morning, it isn't happening and there won't be time to make alternate choices after every rikishi has had a bout. Everyone else with missing rikishi should have their messages about it by now and I'll go ahead with default replacements tonight when I update the worksheet again. We have two players absent (kyujo?) and one new player join in so there will be 26 with the 3 drones included. Once the kyujo replacements are finalized, I'll work on posting Genzai's picks and perhaps everyone elses too if I get a chance to set up a table for posting all of it. Good luck with the tournament and thanks to everyone for playing!

Wow, there's been a flood of last minute entries and I won't have time to reply to all of them beofre tonight's matches so this is for everybody. Thanks for your entry and good luck. If you have a kyujo rikishi and do not replace them in time (before their replacement steps on the dohyo) then I'll assume you want Mukashi's pick instead. I'll send a message out to confirm with you once I can. It looks like everyone is back (except possibly one or two) and there are at least two new players. I look forward to the first day of results.

I encourage all lower division sumogaming fans to give this a try. It's a fun game to play and even if you fail to win, you may receive a very generous 2nd place prize as I did. Thanks for creating and running the game Fay, and thanks for your generous gifts. Itachi

    Sandanme Game Haru 2007

This is a reminder to those who have not yet sent their entry. Just half of us from last time are in (but many of us send it on the last day typically). We have one new player so far. Some of you may be waiting for the scgroup site to update for the current banzuke. I used to do that but I've become too impatient and now I have solved the excel problems that prevented me from creating my own updated records. I don't think I'll have time to put it in a nice postable format before the tournament starts but next tournament, I may post some helpful information on the entire Sandanme division to assist you in making your selections. Basically, I combine the height, weight, and age data that Doitsuyama posts with the past few basho results as found on scgroup's site in one sheet. If anyone would like me to email you my excel file containing this data, contact me at nmatsuo@shaw.ca and I'll attach it to my reply. I can't guarantee that it's 100% free of errors though! Also, I've got just one big long sheet with all 6 divisions in it so it may be useful for your other games as well.

To fill the lower half of the banzuke, the makekoshi rikishi had to be sent further down than I would like. My method for dealing with ties for banzuke position is to let the rikishi with the good record take the higher position.Anyway, I won't be surprised if my banzuke is imperfect but I tried to be fair. If you feel slighted by your position, take a look at where my 8-7 record landed me.Good luck with your selections this time.

Congratulations Sekihiryu, You said again - how many is it now? Nice looking baby. I hope your family enjoys a smooth adjustment to the increase in numbers. I look forward to competing with you in the Sandanme Game (among others) again but if a kyujo is more practical for you, then I'll hope to meet you on the dohyo in May instead.

    NBA Fantasy Game

As of last night, Kintamayama was in second place behind my buddy Bob and ahead of me. The three of us have been ranked 1-3 for a while now with Kintamayama dominating for most of the season. Flohru has been hanging around in 4th for a while and the rest are far enough behind that I haven't taken note of them lately. Getting in for the opening week is important as the scores are cummulative. Making weekly adjustments isn't necessary to keep up with me but the top players seem to adjust their lineups each week to maximize their opportunities. If you enjoy reviewing NBA box scores on a regular basis, you may enjoy this game. As for me, the Wet Coast Weasels have top players at every position (well, Biedrins has done pretty well for me at centre most nights) and high hopes for the remainder of the season.

    Happy birthday Ryukaze!

Yes, Happy birthday to both Ryukaze and Bflatminor. I hope that Ryukaze has been able to get his MAME working and is enjoying the nostalgic pleasures of vintage arcade games. Of course, there may be less solitary ways to spend one's birthday ... perhaps the games can wait.

    "MAME" Help?

Hey, that was quick wasn't it? Yes, I couldn't resist checking into MAME right away. I haven't downloaded anything yet but I think if you visit the site I did (www.mameworld.net) and read the 'How to use Mame32' section, you'll be well on your way. There is also a FAQ which may help you figure out what to do with the ROMs to get them to work. I recommend using MAME32 rather than one of the other versions because it's the one I'm used to and because it says there that it's the easiest for beginners to use due to it's nice and easy GUI. I still plan to set it up myself but you may find what you need to know by fishing around that site as I will be doing.

    She is pretty. No?

This thread seems to have provided a bit of an outlet for juvenile comments unfortunately. I'll support OY's original premise. I think she looks fine. Women's wrestling (not the exploitative kind) deserves more attention and encouragement. What's good for the Gander is good for the Goose! Also, for purely selfish reasons, I'd like to see sumo wrestling in the Olympics one day and one of the barriers to this is the fact that the sport is mainly only for men. I've heard they are more likely to introduce new sports if they have particiaption from many countries and if there are opportunities for both genders. Have they had women's wrestling events in the olympics before?

    "MAME" Help?

Hey Ryukaze, It's been a few years since I last used MAME but if you enjoy 80s/ early 90s arcade games then it can be a lot of fun because just about anything you can remember from those days is available somewhere. I do remember that it became awkward to get the ROMs downloaded in a way that they could be opened by the emulator properly. I can't remember just how I got it to work but I did have it working - that was on my old hard drive that crashed on me though so I've lost what I had. I think the reason it is so awkward to get the individual game files is that they don't actually have any rights to them and so it's a form of piracy to trade them around for free. If someone's going to leave a file out there for me to download and use then I don't mind! I contributed my share of quarters to the game companies in my day anyway. If I get time, I'll try and download the emulator on my new computer and then see if I can get some ROMs to work. If I succeed, I'll explain how it works. I think the main thing was to get the ROMs saved to the proper folder. Usually there are instructions somewhere on how to set them up. If the ROMs you get are not designed for the version of the emulator you have then they may not work either. Bug me if I don't get back to you - many demands on my time these days but I try to make procrastination a priority!

I agree with Ryukaze. I'm still waiting to see your impression of Iwakiyama. I believe you already mentioned he had an interesting face. Have you drawn him before? ( maybe I'm just exhibiting poor memory ) If not, why not? I have unopened packs of 1997 bbm-sha sumo cards if that's something that interests you.
