yamaneko 2 Posted September 13, 2006 Looking ahead to tomorrows bouts now for our 4 guys were watching: Baruto draws Iwakiyama Miyabiyama gets Kotooshu which should be a good one Hakuho gets Kokkai. Has the potential to be good, but at times Kokkai seems to be incosistent.. Kisenosato gets Tochiazuma...if tochi is still hurting, a very winnable match for kise. yamaneko 2 Posted September 13, 2006 Even the annoucers were hyped about the baruto roho match "tanoshimi torikumi" they kept mentioning. Wow, there was some powerful sumo in the match, roho almost lifting baruto up twice. Baruto got a nice mawashi hold, but couldnt do anything with it. Roho really seems like a guy on a mission! Baruto falls to 2-2. :(
Taka 33 Posted September 13, 2006 (edited) Was it only my stream that froze JUST as things were getting very interesting? (Whistling...) Well I'm looking forward to the video later! edit: Did catch the ending. Kirikaeshi, hmmm great move by Roho. Wonder if it was planned since there was probably little doubt how the bout would unfold. Great tactics, if so. Edited September 13, 2006 by Taka
yamaneko 2 Posted September 13, 2006 Dont you hate when that happens? Can someone tell me what "gappuri" means? they kept mentioning that word during/after the roho/baruto fight. Miyabiyama kokkai up as i type... Terrible tachiai by miyabiyama. got dang near knocked off of his feet. Kokkai got him toward the edge, then hatakikomid him down. So far a terrible day for our promotion hopefulls. I guess we should have added kokkai and roho as part of this promotion team as the way they are going, theres a chance that both of them can move up the banzuke. yamaneko 2 Posted September 13, 2006 What a terrible day for the promotion hopefulls. Kisenosato cant take chiyotaikai's thrusts, and gets escorted out of the ring. Hakuho though pulled out a victory against tokitenku. Im sure there will be some debate on if it was the dreaded henka, but he did win. But again, it looks like kokkai and roho have better chance at promotion than baruto, kisenosato, and miyabiyama at this point. If they keep it up i think i will go ahead and add them to our "watch"
Ossetian Yokozuna 1 Posted September 13, 2006 SalParadise - I hope, ROHOs win on BART will not do us enemyes.
Bix Poku 1 Posted September 13, 2006 SalParadise - I hope, ROHOs win on BART will not do us enemyes. If better man wins in a fair contest, it's he's honour and cant make any ennemies. Today Roho was better than Bart as we all saw. Still I hope for Bart revenge on next basho but until then, congratz, Roho (Whistling...)
Naganoyama 5,948 Posted September 13, 2006 Roho's win against Baruto was very exciting. It seemed a pretty close contest to me, despite Roho being on fire, and I think this is a great indicator for Baruto's future.
SalParadise 0 Posted September 13, 2006 SalParadise - I hope, ROHOs win on BART will not do us enemyes. If Roho is the better man on the dohyo, he deserves to win. I'm rather shocked he pulled it off myself, and feel rather sheepish in my predictions now.
Hananotaka 8 Posted September 13, 2006 Dont you hate when that happens? Can someone tell me what "gappuri" means? they kept mentioning that word during/after the roho/baruto fight. "Gappuri" is essentially full-on, total yotsu, migi-yotsu and migi-yotsu or hidari-yotsu and hidari-yotsu. You'll notice in the Roho-Baruto match, both had underhand grips on the mawashi and overhand grips.
yamaneko 2 Posted September 14, 2006 Looking ahead to tomorrow's matchups for our watch group: Baruto gets Tochiazuma Miyabiyama gets Kaio Hakuho gets Aminishiki Kisenosato gets Asashoryu. I predict all guys win except kise.
aderechelsea 125 Posted September 14, 2006 (edited) the "Hakuho-Aminishiki" should be the best one of those with the yokozuna's bout close behind. deep in my mind i hope for a Tochiazuma awakening and a super fight against "the creature from the fjords" (Laughing...) .... but i highly doubt it. "the blob" vs "the zombi" is of no interest to me .... Edited September 14, 2006 by aderechelsea
yamaneko 2 Posted September 14, 2006 Another day of mixed results. Baruto won an EXCELLENT match against iwakiyama, miyabiyama lost to kotooshu, and his promo chances are really hurting now, unless he has a strong finish like last time.. Hakuho beat the hot kokkai, and kisenosato could not beat an injured tochiazuma.
Kotoseiya Yuichi 3 Posted September 14, 2006 Can someone tell me what "gappuri" means? Glossary is your friend.
yamaneko 2 Posted September 15, 2006 Looking ahead to tomorrow: Two of our guys are pitted against each other, Miyabiyama vs. Kisenosato. Hakuho gets Kotomitsuki And the match of the day, Asashoryu vs. Baruto. I have this feeling that asashoryu is just going to embarrass Baruto, after loosing to him in keiko or whatever it was. Baruto's only chance i think is a great tachiai, keeping asa from the belt. Ill still be rooting for the bart man though.
aderechelsea 125 Posted September 15, 2006 now we're talking !!!!!! withour seing today's bouts yet ... tomorrow sound so exciting. Hakuho vs Mickey is the match for me. Yokozuna promotion gets a good test. Asa should win his bout (quite easily the way i "see" the match in my head)
Itachi 396 Posted September 15, 2006 Looking ahead to tomorrow's matchups for our watch group:Baruto gets Tochiazuma Miyabiyama gets Kaio Hakuho gets Aminishiki Kisenosato gets Asashoryu. I predict all guys win except kise. I think Baruto has an excellent opportunity to win - 'Azuma is not at his best and Baruto is vigorous. Hakuho should win unless he screws up - Ami can be dangerous but Hakuho is a few classes above him. Kise is promising but Asa seems to be in decent form and he's practically unbeatable that way. I don't know how 'off' Kaio is but Miyabi-zeki isn't showing his best either so I'm not sure who will win this one. I'd prefer to see MIyabiyama pick it up and return to Ozeki but if his sumo is weak again then he should be taught a lesson by a really good ozeki in his twilight. yamaneko 2 Posted September 15, 2006 So far, Baruto and miyabiyama have taken care of business. Neither are really in the yusho race anymore, but very much still in the promotion race, miyabiyama's chances perhaps a little less than Baruto.
yamaneko 2 Posted September 15, 2006 Hakuho can pretty much kiss his yokozuna hopes goodbye after choking against aminishiki. That move that aminishiki pulled made it seem like he was the mongolian.... was something perhaps tokitenku would pull. Very clever indeed.
Asashosakari 19,658 Posted September 15, 2006 (edited) Hakuho can pretty much kiss his yokozuna hopes goodbye Perhaps not. B-) Edited September 15, 2006 by Asashosakari
yamaneko 2 Posted September 15, 2006 holy CRAP was kisenosato a man (boy) on a mission today. As soon as he got that mawashi grip, he was like, holy crap, i cant believe this....im NOT loosing, im NOT loosing...... I guess this actually helps hakuho...maybe hes not so out of it. Even if asa wins the rest of his bouts, hakuho can still tie him and force a playoff if he wins the rest of his bouts.
Shimpu 0 Posted September 15, 2006 Parhaps someone will start rumour about giving up (Nodding yes...) All for future yokozuna Hakuho...
Daigaiguma 0 Posted September 15, 2006 An amazing win by Kisenosato. The Young Gun looked in control the whole time and kept Asa off balance and on his heels. That should certainly help his promotion hopes. Aminishiki showed similar control in dominating Hakuho. He really did his kind of sumo. I'm watching the interview with Kise now and he's really choked up. It's really touching to see how he is affected by that victory. It is definitely a big step for him. Miyabiyama's victory over Kaio was solid but not that surprising. Another big test for Baruto tomorrow and what an exciting one for all of us on the forum. Baruto vs. Asashoryu at honbasho at last. Can Asa recover from his loss today or will he succumb to the Creature from the Fjords?
