A casual conversation with a friend today brought me to wonder which drink is more popular worldwide. I think the options are pretty self-explanatory. If possible, please explain your choice (i.e. taste, price, habit, anything else)

I was fair and selected "both". I like Cola and drink both brands freely (and in quantities). In my family we buy Pepsi mostly, cause it's cheaper, but whenever I'm out (cafeteria, restaurant, etc) they mostly serve Coca and I have no problems with that.

I really don't care much for bubbly drinks anymore (except naturally sparkly mineral water), and Colas of any kind more or less top the list. Only time I might drink them is after a hefty meal, as all those corrosive acids might aid in digesting it. (Enjoying a beer...)

My teeth used to feel funny after larger quantities of Cola and Fanta/Mirinda-like beverages, that's the main reason I quit.

Edit: when I do drink, I have no special preference or dislike.

I am not only a caffeine based lifeform but I also drink way too much Pepsi Max (and to a lesser amount Pepsi Twist, the lemon flavour). I've been trying to convert myself to mineral waters... (Enjoying a beer...)

Coke all the way here. That probably has to do with the fact that I grew up in Coke's back yard. In fact Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina most people call all carbonated sodas coke.

Did anybody of you ever try Vanilla Coke?

In Liechtenstein/Switzerland it was introduced some months ago and it has a nice soft taste of vanilla.

(Sign of approval) Yeah I like it as well. I have my own addiction as well. I am addicted to sweet iced tea.

I'm a coca-cola junkie as well... Nothing else will do!

Talking about vanilla coke, I think it's allright, but you get tired of the taste really quickly. I'm not a big fan of the lemon flavoured colas either.

Just yesterday I tasted a now cola that just came to sweden, called Pepsi X.

It's supposed to be pepsi combined with an energy drink. Why do they do that? (Enjoying a beer...)

As the sole defender of Pepsi

You're not the only fan of Pepsi. I love it and drink it often.

However, I also enjoy Coke, so I voted for both. (Enjoying a beer...)

I myself like both brands, but the discussion "Pepsi or Coke" has been going on for years between my husband and one of his friends. My hubby is the Pepsi fan. So you're not the only one, Kotoseiya-zeki!

I drink both, they both taste the same but I voted pepsi because a few years ago Coke changed its flavour for a short time-I still have unpleasant memories of it.

lol, I think it was back in the very late 80s when the flavor change experiment took place. A little more than a few years. :-D

Since in the States it largely depends on which supplier a restaurant has a contract with (i.e. they EITHER serve Pepsi or Coke products, but basically never both!), it is pointless to take a side when eating out :)

However, privately, it is clear to me that Pepsi products taste better, i.e. Pepsi better than Coke, Diet Pepsi better than Diet Coke and 7up better than Sprite (which to me tastes like soap water) :-P

Since I essentially only drink diet cola, and diet Pepsi tastes better, I tend to stick to it. BUT, Coca-Cola offers a GREAT diet drink called FRESCA ("grapefruit flavored") which i used to drink for the longest time before even figuring out that it was a DIET drink... it is/was that good! :) So, at home, it is mostly Fresca for me, while in the office, Diet Pepsi makes the cut (unless my colleague is buying, he'll inevitably get a case of Diet Dr. Pepper, a bit of an acquired taste) :-D

For the record, with this toss-up, I voted "both".

Cheers from Calcutta,

Zenjimoto

I'm afraid I have to disagree with Zenjimoto-zeki (a rare event) on this one :-P I think they taste very similar, and I like them both. I usually drink the diet variety.

I had a great time at the Coca-Cola World Headquarters in Atlanta, GA. I highly recommend you visit if you are in the area. The best part of course is the tasting room: a huge room where you can stay as long as you want and drink as much as you want of every coke flavor ever made! They have exceedingly rare cokes that were only produced as trials in one country for one year, e.g. a weird ginger-lemon coke they tried in japan in the 70s.

:-D

Hey Yoavo,Does that include when it contained real Coke/cocaine? that would be interesting.

Well it used coca leaves which of course produces cocaine and yes was taken out of the formula because of it. I think it was taken out when prohibition was inacted

Where did you think the name came from Yoavo? From the the original formula containing cocoa beans-When it ended I dont know though.

Well, then. Now that over 20 people have voted, I can conclude the poll. Looks like I lost the bet - I didn't think Coca-Cola would have such an overwhelming advantage. I seem to recall we once had a similar poll on another board, and everyone went with Pepsi there... Oh, well.

Never mind Qttp just because we are sumo fans does not mean we are right about every thing.

(You are going off-topic...)Two questions Qttp-

Why the name Qttp?

And how did you get your rank here to say E.Yokozuna? Just wondered.

The first question I can't answer cause I don't know, and the second I can't answer cause it's my secret. Hehe.

Once you're past one hundred messages, you can change your title to whatever you choose in My Controls (Edit Profile Info -> Custom Member Title). Most members seem to choose a heya then but you can write there whatever you want. I do glance at them and a self-proclaimed yokozuna is on the brink... (Applauding...)
