GTB results Kyushu 2006

Recommended Posts

First, special thanks to Andoreasu for running the show again!

The Cup goes to Japan again-Yosouou got his first yusho- an impressive one considering the difficult banzuke and general low scoring, where we had no less than 7 rikishi who didn't lose a rank with a MK, 4 komusubi, etc..

This was the 53rd basho of the game, and the only player to play in all of them is Leonishiki, as the other consistent player till now Ekigozan did not enter.

Thanks for playing. We had 110 players this time- there is a downward trend these last few bashos, but we started with 6 participants, so who's complaining.. Please come to visit us again next

Basho. On behalf of Andoreasu and myself, I say-

And now... on with the Bash-ow!!

See how you did at http://www.dichne.com/Guess.htm

And I wonder what was the score of the most successful participant who tried it with only 2 Komusubi...?

(Clapping wildly...) I humbly accept my promotion to a top ten rank and I promise to gambarize even harder now to fulfill the expectations connected with this high rank. :-S

My GTB score is truly schizophrenic...54 of 56 points from Y to M8, 5 of 28 points the rest of the way.

Yosouou's 72 points is nothing short of amazing...that's the second-highest winner score ever! (Clapping wildly...)

I guessed only 2 Komusubi and got 36 points (20 from Y to K, 0 from M1 to M8, 16 from M9 to M15). If I had just taken that guess and renamed the M1 to Komusubi, M2 to M1, M3 to M2 and so on, I would have gotten 48 points (22 from Y to K, 26 from M1 to M7, 0 from M8 to M15). (Blushing...)

Hey, the additional point moved me from 11 to 10 in the overall rankings...woohoo!

And at 73 points, Yosouou now even ties the best-ever result (Nov 2001).

:'-(

(Bow...) I humbly accept my demotion from a top ten rank and I promise to gambarize even harder now to find myself back on this high rank soon. (Bow...)

(Well... at least now I know what it feels like, being a top ten GTB player. Even if it was only for one day...) (Blushing...)

To misquote orwells 'Animal farm-'

"2 Komusubi bad,4 Komusubi good."

Went with 2 Komusubi to save a headache and finished 4th from bottom, not a great start to the new basho after Akis heroics. :'-(
