How will the Yokozuna do this year? Again this is a repeat question to the previous two years. I've also included a Zensho Yusho option.

Same poll from the Start of 2005 and Start of 2006.

Needless to say, if you don't credit Asashoryu with all 6, please say which other rikishi will claim the others (Tsuppari...)

Tochiazuma and Kisenosato.

Good luck, as Kisenosato should not get his 1st (of only 14 total) in 2008.

Ol' Sho will lose 2 this year, to Osh and Tochiazuma

just one basho "stolen" by Hakuho. Or maybe 2 ... again by Hakuho ....

Two yusho for Asashoryu. I think that, this year, he'll suffer his first big injury. So, two yusho and no zensho.

Same as Nishinoshima, but I'll throw in a second zensho for Asa -

Hakuho for the one basho that Asa won't clinch.

Asashoryu in 2007? I think (Whatever above, it is funny...) ;-) ;-) (First prize...) (First prize...) (First prize...) including two Zensho!

One by Hakuho, One really Big Surprise by Kisenosato.

You heard it hear first.

3 yusho, 1 zensho.

Hakuho, Kotooshu and possibly Kisenosato. If Kise doesn't get one, then Hakuho will get 2.

For kicks and giggles, I'll record an "Asashoryu's success was in part due to yaocho"-based vote. I don't actually believe the allegations, but I found it interesting to think about the implications if they were. And I've come to the following conclusion: no further 14 or 15 win bashos the rest of the year, and just 2 more yusho, both 13-2. Since it's all academic anyway, let's distribute the other three yusho equally among Hakuho, Osh and Kise.

I predict Ama will get one yusho, by zensho.

Bart will just give up on trying to rehabilitate his knee, have the the leg amputated, and then without the injury holding him back will yusho twice.

Also, Osh will yusho, but will continue to whine, mope, and grumble all the way through.

Oh yeah, I predict Shibouyama will go to Haru Basho, drink a lot of beer, and hoot and holler for his favorite rikishi causing the mild-mannered ojii-san in the next box to join in and root for whomever Shibouyama isn't rooting for.

(In a state of confusion...)

:-D

(Laughing...)

If only our audience was broader, I'd say you should quit your dayjob and do Ozumo stand-up. The Ama prediction is

Seinfeld-esque in its ironic grasp of tenuously improbable reality. And the Bart comment rivals one of the funniest scenes of Monty Python history, possibly the funniest scene of all British humor, from 'The Meaning of Life': "A tiger?!?!? In Africa?!?!?"

*EDIT:

(Oops!) Sorry for (Whistling...) If replying to Monty Python portion, please do so in: Comedy - Sumo Forum.

I've heard that as well. Wasn't it Sal Paradise who said that? I'm almost getting paranoid to name even someone's avatar. Don't wanna get sued, etc...

Anyways, I have no plans to go to Nagoya (although, scrappin' for a piece of the tawara sounds like fun). I go to Haru every year. I'm located in Yonago, Tottori (look it up, if you like) and anything else seems too far (although, Ive thought about going to Fukuoka the last two years and may go this year. Lots of empty masu seki!)

Sorry, but I don't really undertand this. Embarrassing to admit, but...

thanks. It's nice to get a laugh.

My thing is, I can't really take anything seriously, including sumo. It's fun, great to watch, but, I laugh at it all (the world.)

I was being a little facetious anyway, but I guess what I'm saying is: Ama could actually do it given perfect conditions the right spirit/momentum, and a little luck. And if he did, it'd be absolutely hilarious. A hilarious dream never to be repeated. Ever have a dream that makes you laugh in your sleep so hard that you wake up and then you try to go back to sleep to find out what was so damn funny, but it's gone? It would be like that, only we'd have it on video.
