Indrid 0 Posted August 27, 2007 I just read that Asashoryu is not in trouble with the IRS, apparently for not declaring revenues obtained through tv rights during 2003/2004. the sum amounts to one million dollars. poor Asa, it seems like the trouble never ends... Kintamayama 45,530 Posted August 27, 2007 Papers are now saying Asa is definitely leaving on the 29th. No speculation-it is written as fact..
Ikh Mongol Dagvadorj 0 Posted August 27, 2007 Now we have the Income Tax bearing down on Asa. They are saying he owes them 100 million yen in back taxes for money he made from commercials and from the broadcast of his wedding. The fine is around 30 million yen. A revised report has been sent. This is for the years 2002-2005, and does not include salaries and bonuses paid by the Kyokai, only the extra-curricular stuff.Who else thinks that this could finally break the Yokozuna and make him want to retire? Why would this be made public now? Coincidence? it is not coincidence, it is definitely hand of somebody who really wants Asa OUT. Who is that somebody? I believe it is not NSC which is only public face. Ps: How could Japanese IRS be quite all those years for that those incomes? Suddenly wake up now!!!!!! Maybe some Finnish guy on the forum told them.. maybe........but suomi brother, nhon friend can easily betray you on your smallest mistake. So go for Asa , if you dig hard you'll find finns closer to mongols than european :-) Ps:- How big is the betting/gambling in sumo? involvement of yakuza and other financial/ nationalist interests What is Asa's income/ known/ published montly average. Where can I find those info. I (Laughing...) should it to inform Mongolian IRS :-) What is worth of being sumo wrestler in mighty money, from top to down rank? Jonosuke 28 Posted August 27, 2007 For one thing Asashoryu is not the first one to be asked by Japanese Tax Authority to pay up. We all know how ugly it was for the former Futagoyama oyakata or even Wakanohana I. The Tax Department cherishes going after the most prominent as they feel by getting more attention always does more good especially against small guys. Well as for the timing. From the the beginning of this whole episode when the relationship between Takasago oyakata and Asashoryu began to be highlighted, many unnamed sources pointed out a rather major incident. That happened at Asashoryu's wedding party when Asashoryu got infuriated thinking his shisho was skimming some gift moeny raised at the reception. Unconfirmed reports say they got in a rather bad fight and even Asashoryu's wife got hit. So whenever this type of reporting surfaces, the tax department gets really busy. But the problem with the sumo world is that it's a world no receipts exist. Supporters buy meals, bring food and liquor and other gifts as well as money. The tax department only go with their educated guess (which often is much lower than the actual revenue so most often rikishi and oyakata usualy pay up rather than take it to the court). CM and TV appearence money may come in different ways too.
Sashohitowa 6 Posted August 27, 2007 That happened at Asashoryu's wedding party when Asashoryu got infuriated thinking his shisho was skimming some gift moeny raised at the reception. Unconfirmed reports say they got in a rather bad fight and even Asashoryu's wife got hit. So we have case when Yokozuna hits shisho's wife. Yokozuna goes intai. Now there is a case when Shisho hits Yokozuna's wife. .... Again the Yokozuna may go intai (indirectly, because of that)... Life is quite strange, sometimes ... And ironic - most of the time :-)
Jonosuke 28 Posted August 27, 2007 (edited) Only that this is a case of the yokozuna hitting his own wife....and driving her out of the country all the way to New York City. But I should add this is only a rumour I am repeating. Edited August 27, 2007 by Jonosuke
Kintamayama 45,530 Posted August 27, 2007 Unconfirmed reports say they got in a rather bad fight and even Asashoryu's wife got hit. I am pretty sure it was Takasago's wife who is rumored to have got hit (is he married??). I'm trying to dig up the original post-I distinctly remember reading she was pushed by mistake. madorosumaru 7 Posted August 27, 2007 We are finally coming to the expected denouement of the Asashoryu Saga, Part I. An emergency board meeting has been called for Tuesday, Aug 28, to decide on whether to allow Asashoryu to return to Mongolia for treatment. Although there are some board members who are adamantly against the trip, it is believed that with Kitanoumi Rijicho in approval, the yokozuna will be allowed to make the trip. He is expected to leave Japan on the 29th, accompanied by his shisho, Takasago Oyakata. Dr. Yoshida of the Kyokai Clinic will be present at the board meeting to explain the nature of "Dissociative Identity Disorder" and Dr. Takagi may also attend to present his reasons for recommending treatment in Mongolia. The hard-line oyakata are still demanding an apology from Asashoryu. They also want to know who will take the responsibility if Ryu gets into another scrape back home. In the absence of a statement of contrition from Asashoryu, Takasago Oyakata has apologized to the fans and all concerned for having been remiss in handling the affair from the very beginning, thereby allowing the incident to drag on. He is truly sorry for the errors of his ways. For the trip, Takasago will be on hand and take full responsibility for all that occurs in Mongolia. In addition, there is a plan to send a doctor, presumed to be Dr. Takagi, to go along to supervise the treatment.
ilovesumo 12 Posted August 27, 2007 Sending the docktor after him... sounds like cosmetic to me like much actings and interviews that happened before.
Sasanishiki 57 Posted August 27, 2007 Wow, that will be a fun trip. I can imagine the conversations Atakasago and Asa are going to have. I still do not believe that Dissociative Identity Disorder is a correct or proper diagnosis. I doubt that something so psychologically serious just comes and goes. Ikh Mongol Dagvadorj 0 Posted August 27, 2007 (edited) I knew, person like Asa would not show up in front of board and apologize. too proud to do that. Plus he doesn't see any reason If Takasago alone is responsible for all that occurs in Mongolia, there will not be any problem unless Takasago himself wants to cut down the branch he is sitting on now. am getting familiar to Nippon way thru this Asa , they are tricky but love to cover up, face saving So what is the guess for "Asashoryu Saga, Part II"? what if Asa retire in Mongolia? I wish he start Mongolian sumo school. Also Shuzan also start his own sumo school. When Japanese fed up with Hakuho, he eventually go back to Mongolia and start his own sumo school. There will be real competition. It would add one more color to our culture of wrestling or even more than just a wrestling Edited August 27, 2007 by Ikh Mongol Dagvadorj

A group of elders got together and gathered up strong and big guys around, ranked them according to their strength and started a tournament. They could ogranize a professional sumo tournament right there in Mongolia then no Mongolians will have to endure a humiliation to get a visa to come over to Japan only to be called names, harassed and abused before they get airlifted back home. I also give you a free advice so you can have a successful one. Make sure Mongolia government recognize it as an endowment of sort so in that case even if it becomes unpopular, the state TV network has to broadcast it. By the way we keep Kyokutenho though, after all he is a Japanese citizen now with a Japanese wife and a future Oshima oyakata to boot.

Kintamayama 45,530 Posted August 28, 2007 (edited) It's official now-Asa is going home to recuperate, accompanied by Takasago Oyakata. "Dr. Takagi is saying the most important thing is for Asa to return home and receive treatment, and we have to respect that. The decision was unanimous", said Isenoumi Oyakata at the press conference. As for the when, nothing specific was said, but Takasago said it would be very soon. "I'll be joining him and checking out the conditions and what kind of treatment he gets etc..", he added. Speculation is tomorrow. Now Takasago-beya is not only without a yokozuna, but without an oyakata to help prepare for Aki (and Kyushu?) basho as well! So is Ichinoya running things now? :-)

A Japanese psychiatrist is also supposed to be going. Then, he's scheduled to return to Japan to report to Kitanoumi. He may return to Mongolia at a later date. As for Ichinoya, he has always been running things..
Guest haroda Posted August 28, 2007 looks like Asa has shown the sumo bosses who the boss really is. they have cracked and let him have his way again. with a little luck he will stay in mongolia to try and avoid the tax man.
Peterao 3 Posted August 28, 2007 Asashoryu has inspired me! I'm gonna start misbehaving at work, get punished, stare off into space, and have them pay to send me back to the States for four months of rehabilitation too! :-P
Kintamayama 45,530 Posted August 28, 2007 (edited) "Hang down your head Takasago.." Apologizing for not doing his job: "If any problems arise during the Mongolian jungyo, it will be Takasago Oyakata's full responsibility", said Kitanoumi. Reminder: Takasago can deliver retirement papers without asking anyone.. Sashohitowa 6 Posted August 28, 2007 Let me share with you how I see the things that are going to happen in Mongolia. The reporters at the airport will see one quite genky person (for a man, diagnosed with Dissociative Identity Disorder, I mean...) running to catch the plane for Mongolia. There, on a home land, the miracle will happen, and the person, who lately was only staring TV, eating soup and replying "I will gambarize" to everything, will all of a sudden start to behave quite normally. Will walk around, will ride horses, eat the delicious mummy's meals - and this is all part of the therapy.. He can even play some soccer - hey, why not - the diagnosis is a mental disease, and we can see quite a lot of examples of football players doing just fine without using their brains during a game ... Takasago oyakata will trip after Asashoryu, verifying that everything is ok (probably by verifying that all that Asashoryu requests, gets fulfilled asap). The doctors will be extremely happy by the progress made, and will be very proud of the success of their recommended therapy. The NSK (Ikh, for you specially - NSC) will probably been offended a little by some of the stories that will whirl around Asashoryu in Mongolia, but I personally expect no intai notes to be demanded (and Takasago will not issue them on his own will) - they will make a compromise. Like they did before, like they did now. Let me be more clear. Asashoryu was my favorite rikishi. Asashoryu's sumo was the one that caught my eyes on Eurosport and "made me" follow the sumo as closely as I do now (it was some time before Kotooshu stepped in - I am from Bulgaria, but don't follow the sumo just because my compatriot participates). Every day during honbasho I was waiting for the musubi-no-ichiban, to see a brilliant display of sumo - the sumo of THE yokozuna. Now I lost faith. I see a person with no mental strength. Someone who starts crying, when they slap him by the hand. Someone who gets a mental disorder when the things do not follow his egoistic believes.. "he didn't feel that he did something wrong, why should he apologize?" Come on, why should all the world spin around his view of right and wrong? Now the only inspiration I can get from "the yokozuna" is (like Peterao said) how to cheat and misbehave. And recently I am associating Asashoryu's case with (the lyrics of) one song -"Everybody's fool" by Evanescence And, finally, I'd like to say thank to all of you for that thread. It was really meaningful - it helped me realize and think deeply about some details that I considered to stay "behind" sumo, but maybe they are actually at the very top of the "sumo-do". Thank you very much for all your posts and comments!!
