Kyokai bigwigs were watching Asa's return to Mongolia on TV. "He was looking down all the time, huh.. Regarding his health: "It doesn't have to be on a daily basis, but I'd really like to know how he is doing..", indirectly confirming that Dr. Honda who flew with Asa will be reporting to the Kyokai's Dr. Yoshida on Asa's health situation. "If he manages to settle down mentally, he'll be able to strengthen his body. The fact that he hasn't moved for the last month is very big. Mongolia can get very cold in October", he added, hinting that Asa getting back to some sort of physical shape seems a daunting task. Musashigawa and Isenoumi: "We have nothing to say", as they watched the broadcast. Takadagawa Oyakata: "The 'meat' on his face has loosened.. his ass has become small, neee...", he said, worried.

Asashouryuu will be surrounded by soldiers and policemen 24 hours a day so that no Japanese reporters/camera crew will be able to get anywhere near him. As we all know, it was the soccer footage that got him here. The people around him are doing their utmost so that no damaging camera footage can be shot. After all, he is being "watched " by the NSK that expressly stated that any further slip-ups and he's gone. So Asa's retreat will be virtually sealed off to the outside world. Talk is that any reporter attempting to obtain footage or trying to get too close may be sued by Asa and jailed or deported. In short, it seems like the whole nation is getting together to prevent any chance of Asa going intai.

Alright. But you should call me Israeli, as Jew is a religion, and last time I checked, Mongolia was a country, not a religion.

I think you should be aware that he probably called you a Jew because of some differences in languages. In Poland when you say Jew (Żyd) in 99,99% it refers to nationality not to religion. I think the English equivalent of polish Żyd is Hebrew (Hebrajczyk)... Jewish religion is Judaism... We discussed it before but... that's the way things go in Poland. Probably it's the same in Mongolia.

Didn't some Mongolian genius (or maybe he isn't Mongolian after all..) who knows it all say somewhat smugly that there are no paparazzi in Mongolia?

Takasago booked in "Continiental" hotel in UB. Asa and his crew ate dinner in "Khaan Palace" around 21.30 and Asa headed to his father's home ( i guess in UB).

Tokyo Sports is referring to a picture of Dr. Honda at the airport, carrying a box for a set of speakers in the shape of soccer balls. Either the good doctor (or his patient) has a perverse sense of humor or he is a dunderhead. ;-)

Well, those speakers, pictured, are not Soccer-ball-shaped, but Dodecahedrons, or 12-sided Platonic solids. The dodecahedron is composed of 12 pentagonal faces, while the soccer ball is composed of 12 pentagonal faces equally dispersed among 20 hexagonal faces. Reason being, the soccer ball is a truncated icosahedron, which is an Archimedean solid, or basically a 2nd generation. The parent icosahedron, composed of 20 triangular faces, is also a Platonic solid, and the counterpart to the dodecahedron. I believe that this means, and correc tme if I am wrong, that complete truncation of the icosahedron will produce the dodecahedron. So the soccer ball is the regular midpoint between the two.

To the Greeks, the Dodecahedron was a symbol of the universe, and it's been theorized that this form has a unique connection to the diatonic scale. So if some sound engineer used the shape to attempt a "3D speaker" it's no big surprise. Furthermore, being that Asa is being treated for a mental condition, anyone with 2 minutes on their hands could probably find scads of reference to the use of sound-therapy in treating disorders related to anxiety, depression, and deep identity crisis.

If you believe any of those disorders apply here, that is. :-P

So much for the babysitters, it seems. Reports are emerging that Takasago and Dr. Honda are booked for a flight out of Mongolia today. Eyebrows are being raised, since Takasago has put his own NSK existence on the line by personally vouching for Asa. He promised to keep a close eye on him, and rotate three Oyakata from his heya to keep an eye on Asa. Problem is:

A: He hasn't been in contact with Asa since they arrived in Mongolia.

B: No Oyakata rotation roster has been decided, meaning if Takasago returns today, there will be no one minding the Asashouryuu. Tomozuna Oyakata was quick to react: "If he wants Asashouryuu to return to Japan as a Yokozuna, he better keep a close eye on him. It's for the Yokozuna's own good. It is imperative that someone stops him from going too far!!", he said.

If Asa can take advantage of being left alone and be seen "doing the right thing" in public, it would win him points. OTOH, if Takasago indeed is returning to Japan today, he could be seen as abandoning his responsibility as Asa's Oyakata.

It's on all the wide shows today. Takasago left Mongolia very early this morning and is back in Japan.

The best comment I heard was that Michael Jackson lives on a ranch called Neverland, and Asashoryu is staying at a camp called Dreamland...coincidence? ;-)

The new assistant minister who seems to know so much about sumo history appears to have a bad ponytail, kinda like what Steven Seagal sported earlier in his movie career.

The way things are going now, it's quite believeable that the ponytailed pair are planning some sort of movie appearance together, where they bust into the NSK offices and breakup a dangerous and previously unstoppable crime racket ;-)

The babysitters have landed on Japanese soil. "Well, he has to report to us, you know.. It's his third day in Mongolia, but he feels that he confirmed everything well, so..", explained Kitanoumi. He was met at Narita airport by the 50 strong media, but refused to answer any question, wearing a tight face. He will report to Rijicho in the afternoon.

The general picture is becoming clear. It seems Asa has a concrete plan regarding his recuperation. He is living in "Dreamland", a tourist recreation/recuperation facility some 400 kilometers from the airport in Halaholin (Kharakhorum,it is..). This facility is owned by Asa and a relative, who bought/rented it from the government when he became yokozuna. The facility notified its guests lately that it will be closed for repairs and canceled all reservations, leaving it empty for Asa and his relatives/friends/camp to fill at a later date, which came yesterday. It is reported that his wife is definitely there, contrary to the rumors. Then a contingent of guards/policemen/army recruits were brought in so no one, especially the Japanese media , would bother Asa. He will be traveling an additional 50 kilometers each way to the natural spring in Hojilt (Khujirt, I am corrected..) for treatment. (The owner of this facility was warned not to let any Japanese media people in) This is the facility inspected by Takasago Oyakata and Dr. Honda, who were both very happy with it and are both very happily back home. *

So, in summary, Asashouryuu will be based (and it is a base, for sure..) in Halaholin and will travel to Hojilt for onsen treatment.

* A slightly different version-Takasago went alone to check the onsen and even used its facilities. He then met up with Dr. Honda and Asashouryuu at Asa's headquarters where they discussed his treatment.
