Here is the scoreboard for Kyushu Basho:

No player in any wave is now on sekitori level. While I could have picked the bottom three of Juryo I was afraid that they all finish MK (now see one of them getting double digit KK...)

With what appears to be a clever move, Doitsuyama has overtaken Exil for second place. Fujisan and Zentoryu (happy belated birthday) get a special mention because they dared to withstand the Yamamotoyamatosayutakaminamiaranri frenzy. We'll see if they survive on 4th and 5th place, respectively, or if they will be caught by the huge wave behind them.

Standings will (likely) be updated after days 6, 10, and 15.

Standings after day 6:

Your Surf Rijicho has managed re-promotion to Juryo at the earliest possible moment. Doitsuyama did not only overtake Exil in the PPP (pre-basho picking period), he also picked a rikishi with a better record, thereby consolidating second place. Zentoryu is now 3rd in virtual standings while Exil already feels the crest of the Tosayutaka wave above him.

Standings after day 10:

The next days will be quite interesting in the fight for second place of the virtual standings. At the moment I think that Zentoryu is in second place, ever so slightly in front of Doitsuyama. However, it all depends on who will get the yusho in Makushita. In other words, if Doitsuyama's Hoshikaze finishes 4-3 (the most likely outcome) the Tosayutaka support crew and maybe even Imumaru as the sole Aran surfer might overtake him (granted that their rikishi get the yusho).

Final Results and estimated banzuke positions for Hatsu Basho:

I managed re-promotion to Juryo. Meanwhile, the yushoing septet of Tosayutaka supporters have overtaken many other contenders and will in all likelihood be promoted to ranks #2 through #8 for the Hatsu standings. Asafan made one of the biggest improvements this basho (from 33rd to about 23rd in the standings).

Thanks to Kyokushuho, my favorite, who will be yokozuna soon :-P (Dohyo-iri...) ;-)

Fujisan and Zentoryu (happy belated birthday) get a special mention because they dared to withstand the Yamamotoyamatosayutakaminamiaranri frenzy. We'll see if they survive on 4th and 5th place, respectively, or if they will be caught by the huge wave behind them.

Well, I was caught, but I have to say I'm pretty happy with how the basho turned out for me. Shotenro gave me exactly what I wanted from him, a 6-1 that propelled me into the top-10 ranks of Makushita, so I can't complain too much.
