madorosumaru 7 Posted February 8, 2008 水素水 is "ionized activated hydrogen water." http://www.alibaba.com/catalog/11495890/Io...ogen_Water.html It is patterned after the natural miracle water of Nordenau, Germany and Tlacote, Mexico. Chiyotaikai's mother is a spokesperson for the company producing the water in Kunisaki. http://tetsujin-jun.com/kirakiraboshi.html
Harry 67 Posted February 9, 2008 But isn't water with an excess of hydrogren ions also an acid? I assume it is a weak acid here but it is still likely a bit sour, though I've never tried it.

Riding to Osaka today! By chance, in the back seat was former Ozeki Musoyama and current Fujishima Oyakata (LOL) regarding Osaka he said gambatte, I'll show you how to escape from an 11th kadoban! I'm not retiring yet! Also still respecting my parents along the way. First of all in Osaka before arriving, we went to Castella's shop (see his favorite sponge cake treats above), which I introduced to everyone before, the rice cake filled winning Castella! Harry 67 Posted February 23, 2008 (edited) OK, I guess there should be a period after the (笑) (LOL) but I was taking it to be a conversation. I can't believe the missing pronouns still throw me for a loop. Thanks as always for the correction. If he does it, he'll tie Kaio's record for most kadobans. Sasanishiki 57 Posted February 23, 2008 Also, he says "I don't want to retire!" This gives a slightly different nuance to your translation in that it implies that if he can't get out of kadoban he will probably retire, whereas if he says I'm not retiring yet it might mean that he will keep going as long as he can, regardless of his rank. Harry 67 Posted February 24, 2008 I must be a glutton for punishment. Here is my Taikai translation keiko for the day. Once again I couldn't put the image right in the post as the board claims it is dynamic. Sorry about that: --- http://ameblo.jp/public/image/displayimage...10050220323.jpg I came to see the Baby Castella store owner!! Hot, hot, hot as they can be and incredibly delicious! The store is at the 4th block intersection of Nihonbashi on the Sakai line! When eating something once I understand the difference. Everyone together (LOL) --- So, will we see Castella on his kesho-mawashi soon? It seems like he wants to be their spokesperson and wants us all to come on down for some Baby Castella.

Sasanishiki 57 Posted February 24, 2008 お店は堺筋の日本橋4丁目の交差点です!The store is at the 4th block intersection of Nihonbashi on the Sakai line! The store is at the intersection in Nipponbashi yon-chome (fourth block) on the Sakaisuji line. There is a quirk with the 日本橋 readings: in Tokyo it is Nihonbashi but in Osaka it is Nipponbashi. The Sakaisuji line is a subway line in Kita-ku (north district) of Osaka. There is a city (and station) called Sakai that is in Southern Osaka, and is incidentally where most of the amateur sumo tournaments in the area are held (including 2005 & 2006 World Sumo Champs). Once again, thanks for all the corrections guys. Thanks for the pictures too (like the translation fixes, that seems so simple now). I'll use that 'trick' myself next time. In the case of Sakaisuji that is of course what 境筋 says but I thought the 'line' part of it was 筋 (which also means muscle, tendon, blood vessel or non-body meanings of line like plotline) in which case I thought it would be the Sakai line, rather than the Sakaisuji line. I didn't realize it was the whole name and that you just have to know it is a subway line. I didn't realize the Nippon/Nihon difference also applied to bashi (which would alone be a bridge). I'm always wanting to translate it as Japanese bridge but I guess there'd be a の in there.

Harry 67 Posted February 28, 2008 (edited) Thanks again for the corrections. Why, why, why didn't I read it properly the "strongly inspired person"???? 'Kata na' messed me up; I didn't think it would be person when followed by 'na', I thought it had to be an adjective but 'na node' is 'so'. Ima wakaru... Jonosuke 28 Posted March 2, 2008 Thanks again for the corrections. Hey Har, keep doing what you are doing. You are doing a good job. Basically I am a Tokyo person and I can tell you many Tokyo people who have never been to Osaka will say Nihonbashi. The first time I've been to Osaka, I asked a direction to a Nipponbashi area and was corrected immediately in no uncertain term in Kansai-ben. After that I've never forgotten it. Geograhical names in Japan are nightmares. I can never get it right for most of Okinawa and Hokkaido places. But you know it's just all a learning process. Things you get corrected, you won't easily forget. Anyway I am happy that someone is doing Chiyotaikai blog here. I am really anxious to see what happened to him and the lady he had an arranged meeting on Kazuko Hosoki's TV show. I just saw the show and he looked so happy to be finding a possible future bride. Harry 67 Posted March 2, 2008 Is that still Hikaru Kawamura? I don't see anything recent about the two of them around. I believe this is her blog: http://blog.excite.co.jp/hikaru-kawamura Or was he on Kazuko Hosoki's show again recently? Didn't she tell him to either break it off or get serious on last year's show? Thanks for the encouragement, BTW. I will endeavor to remember the Nihonbashi/Nipponbashi difference. You're right, place (and people) names seem to be the hardest things. Jonosuke 28 Posted March 2, 2008 Actually both Hosoki shows (one on TBS and the other on Fuji) are not gettting renewed and will end at the end of March (Japan's TV season normally starts on April). So we probably won't know what will happen to the new couple. At the same time there will be less TV appearences for Asashoryu as for years Hosoki has been one of his most zealous apologists in media and has even chartered a plane to visit Asashoryu during his exile in the Dreamland. Asashoryu has shown up on her "Zubari" show right after the Hatsu Basho this year and will likely appear again after the Osaka. Hosoki even declared in his presence his loss to Hakuho on the Senshuraku was for the good of Ozumo. She said Asashoryu lost the battle but he won the Sumo. Hosoki reportedly asked Dorji to bring along Takasago oyataka but so far the wise oyakata has been resisting as he knows full well once he goes there he will become a sacrificial lamb and becomes her prey. Apparently she is still pressuring Dorji to bring him along in one of her final shows prior to the end of March. Getting back to Chiyotaikai, he indicated on her show in last May that he was seriously looking for a bride - hopefully a normal office worker, no shobiz type. In the program he asked interested viewers to send in their application and 250 women eventually did. Based on their "resume", Hosoki and the staff came up with a short list of eight women that time. However Chiyotaikai cancelled the next appearence ("arranged meeting" broadcast twice) and by the year end, the six dropped out, presumably they could not wait for the fickle mind and found more suitable prospect. The remaining two diehard were called in to the studio and appeared on the show - one 30 year old and the other 25 year old. Taikai picked the younger one at the end of the show aired on February 5 because she said she wanted to have many kids and loves to play golf, sharing his interests. Anyway here's a pic I found of Taikai and Yuka Hatano, his arranged possible bride from the show:
Harry 67 Posted March 2, 2008 Do we know anything else about her? Is there a bigger picture of her anywhere? Was just looking for matches but it seems to be not an uncommon name.
