Wow, this is the first time I see a gyoji literally give a rikishi the win. I couldn't stop laughing all through the replay. Golden!

Oh how I wish Dale or Ngozi were still doing the videos. Could someone post a replay of this if it appears on Youtube, et al?

Link here. Probably need Windows with IE and to be registered to view it though.

So what does one fill in or where register if French is not known?

At the top click 'Connexion' which brings you to a page where you click "Enregistrement d'un nouvel utilisateur". Fill in your pseudonym, email, password, password (again), and the security number displayed then click the 'Neuvel Utilisateur' button and wait for the email. Click the confirmation link in the email then log in to the 'Connexion' link using your new details. Then once you've logged in you should get access to the video forum.

Fill in your pseudonym, email, password, password (again), and the security number displayed then click the 'Neuvel Utilisateur' button and wait for the email. Click the confirmation link in the email then log in to the 'Connexion' link using your new details. Then once you've logged in you should get access to the video forum.

I have a different kind of problem with this (Mac OSX w/Safari & Firefox BTW). I've been registered on the site for several years and have viewed the videos without a problem continuously, up until about two months ago. Then - and still - when I click on the video screen to start playing, it doesn't play, it just goes through the list of bouts for that day. I'm still registered, the site welcomes me with my name when I bring it up. I can disconnect and then log back in successfully...all of that. The video just doesn't play. This came up on another topic and someone said they had re-registered and that fixed it. But not knowing French, I don't know how to de-register, so I can re-register. Any clues there?? Thanks!

That poster probably just meant that he signed up for a second account. At any rate, maybe your Flash browser plugin (or whatever the Mac equivalent is) needs to be updated?

I think it has something to do with Firefox and the site ... I was able to view the movies with FF last basho, but this basho I have the same problem that you described. Internet Explorer seems to work fine. FWIW.

Thanks. T'would be worth a lot, if I had a Windows partition. Not quite going through all that though, since I have TV Japan anyway. Info-Sumo is just a lot quicker to check on one little thing at a time. Maybe all this will be perfected in my next life. (Applauding...)

Even with a new logon and IE I find your symptoms happen to me too at times but I find if I click in the video player control for a while it starts running properly. Have you tried just clicking it for a bit?

I've got the same problem after the recent Firefox update. Not possible to see any more video on french sumo site, just black picture running through a list of bouts for the day.

There is no problem at all when using IE, the videos run perfectly.

I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.12 and have never had a problem.

that is rather interesting as all the others seem to have the above mentioned problems with firefox......i am on 2.0.0.12 myself and the uploader himself recognized the troubles.....

i do not consider the troubles annoying as i only have to start the ie.......just to add, it also does not work with my opera....

This is not that strange - troubles with Firefox often depend on what Addons (formerly known as extensions) you have installed.

FWIW, since I usually use IE I have an up to date and almost virgin Firefox installation (the only addons installed are the Kinta toolbar and Rikai), with the most recent Flash player, and I'm getting the "just scrolls through the bout titles" problem, too.

The videos are played via a Flash control. Perhaps a recent Firefox update introduced some incompatibility between it and some feature of the current Flash plugin version used by the player. Unfortunately, the company that made the viewer no longer appears to be in business, so I hope this is fixable.

I cannot read French, but was able to register easily as many of the words are similar in English. The site works perfectly for me whether I use Firefox or Safari on both my iBook and my PowerBook and I normally watch the matches streaming on this site.
