I also think the list maker thinks these 11 blogs are the most important/active ones.. When I first posted the URL, I don't think it was working like this. I was just browsing the thread and didn't notice that this was an old posting. I was thinking about the linguisticly challenged who might want to know the contributors of the sites. ilovesumo 12 Posted August 26, 2009 (edited) New Blog detected! Oguruma's Nishikikaze (currently mid-makushita, was once Makushita 1) I flew over the more then 500 entrys. Endless foooooooooooood (as usual on sumo blogs), He LOVES noodles - you gotta recognize that ^^, some keiko, Dohyo preparation stuff, some friends, like a native African man who seems to be friendly with him. As far as I understood, he is a cook. The very cute thing about this blog are the Stories about Nishikaze's nephew, a 2 years old sunshine, born with the Down syndrome. Nishikikaze loves that kid as his niece, who is 4 years old and genki. Cute old fellow that guy, 31 years old. Maybe you drop him a comment. Here his last few entries. He has got a new Yukata, looking like a tiger ^^ Edited August 26, 2009 by ilovesumo
kawika 123 Posted August 28, 2009 What about people that follow sumo? Are there any well-known folks blogging about sumo? Lynn Matsuoka maybe? Doreen Simmons? Murray Johnson? etc......?
Orion 431 Posted August 28, 2009 What about people that follow sumo? Are there any well-known folks blogging about sumo? Lynn Matsuoka maybe? Doreen Simmons? Murray Johnson? etc......? Thanks for asking, David, but I suspect that bloggers are people who feel they need an outlet and don't already have one. They also must have quite a lot of spare time. Lynn has a fine website because she has artwork to sell (and very attractive it is, too) but clearly she doesn't feel she needs to share her day-to-day feelings and experiences. Murray is also busy, with other interests (like horse racing, which he covers professionally) in addition to sumo. Personally, with four regular jobs, not counting NHK's sumo commentaries which are extra, I'm up to the neck in stuff to do, even with the current demise of Kansai Time Out which has carried my sumo column since (I believe) 1983. As I said many, many years ago, the only people living in Japan who have time on their hands are (1) the ones who have only just arrived or (2) the ones who have tried everything and found no takers. Nice to have you back on Sumo Forum, BTW; your insider information on peripheral people like Stirm (spelling right?) is unequaled. (Oh, how I miss Yamato's classy restaurant; but as he said when it folded, it was just not a good time to be in the business.)

Thanks for this! p.s. He seems to have moved his blog but there's a link to the new one at the old one still. He just blogged about his loss (by yoritaoshi) in his 4th match of the Aki basho so it's very current.
ilovesumo 12 Posted September 18, 2010 That's correct. He's one of those real sweet and gentle guys one want's to push to Juryo ;-) Leave him some nice messages here
Itachi 396 Posted September 18, 2010 That's correct. He's one of those real sweet and gentle guys one want's to push to Juryo (Bouncing of excitement...) Leave him some nice messages here My reading skills aren't as good as yours (I'm guessing) but it seems to me that I can't leave Nishiki-san a message there unless I register as a member of Ameba. Is that the case? If there was a simple message board I could leave a note on or even a regular email address to use, I'd send him friendly message about his Canadian fan base. I'd even write it in passable (I think) Japanese. If Ameba is free to use, I might consider going through the process of registering but if it's more of a general Facebook type of thing than an interest group specific one then I'd prefer to avoid it. ilovesumo 12 Posted September 19, 2010 Yes, ameba is free. If you need help, let me know. Even forumers with lesser then my Japanese-skills can survive there. I am a member, so I don't know what you get to see there. The comment-function is enabled, there is no "friends only" function or so. I think even guests are allowed to write. You click コメント and a pop up window appears. Direct link Sometimes errors happen, if you leave a comment in Romaji (English). Somehow Ameba "thinks" non-Japanese must be spam ;-)

Itachi 396 Posted September 20, 2010 (edited) Well, I signed up at Ameba and left a short message for Nishikikaze. My nickname is weasel (=itachi). It was hard to find something that was accepted and I didn't want to use my full real name while I'm still trying to figure out how this all works. I don't see where the message appears though. Hopefully Nishikikaze will see it. It was a bit of a nuisance composing it in my Japanese wapuro and cutting and pasting it in. If I do it often, I'll get used to using it I guess (the word processor and the Ameba site). Thanks for pointing us in that direction! badboy27 0 Posted October 23, 2010 I think Kotoshogiku's blog has been deleted. It makes sense since he hasn't posted anything in a long time.
ilovesumo 12 Posted October 24, 2010 Correct. Cannot be found anymore.
Kaikitsune Makoto 209 Posted October 24, 2010 It is odd rikishi stop updating without any notice. After all there are many readers/fans who like those. Especially rikishi who have no major disasters like Kotoshogiku who just vanished. Strange. Futeno on the other hand is obviously annihilated. Illness, gambling whatever stuff must have happened. He even was the main blogger in makuuchi and his blog was known well. Then, nothing all of a sudden. No explanation, not even a laconic comment like "This blog won't be updated anymore", just silence. I believe Futeno has some non-healing debilitating injury which destroyed him. Nobody gets that weak considering his former horse power.

badboy27 0 Posted October 25, 2010 (edited) I saw Futeno walk in on Day 12 of the Aki basho in Tokyo. Chiyotaikai hasn't posted anything since February. It's a shame about Kotoshogiku, I really liked his blog with all the pictures. Edited October 26, 2010 by badboy27
Kintamayama 45,530 Posted October 25, 2010 Chiyotaikai hasn't posted anything since February. But did apologize and announce he's closing it down because of lack of time.
