BAsho week, so picture posting is more lax... Asashoryu semi-special, the rest is more or less random.

Musashimaru's and Aogiyama's mage-cutting brought on a wave of nostalgia in me. Riding this wave, here are some images of retired rikishi I remember who used to be my favorites.

Once upon a time rikishi went to train (or something) in a military base. These pictures were taken as they passed by a saluting guard. Can you spot differences between yokozuna Akebono:

then-ozeki Musashimaru:

and rank-and-filers Minatofuji and Aogiyama:

Takanoyama the Czech in his early days (no hair, you see) getting to train against a sekitori (white mawashi). Could it be Kotomitsuki? Doesn't look like one of Naruto boys, anyway.
