Naifuzan 1 Posted November 15, 2003 How come there were more zabutons flying around after Asashoryus win over 10ho than there was when maru lost to Tosanoumi? :-D
Kashunowaka 300 Posted November 15, 2003 I think that question has just been answered. :-D
Naifuzan 1 Posted November 15, 2003 It might answer why there were no zabutons when maru lost. But why zabutons flying when Shoryu won? That can hardly have been an upset, now can it?
Zenjimoto 40 Posted November 15, 2003 It might answer why there were no zabutons when maru lost. But why zabutons flying when Shoryu won? That can hardly have been an upset, now can it? Correct me if I am wrong, but I think sometimes when a rikishi gives a Yokozuna an especially good bout, coming close to an upset, they still throw the zabuton as a sign of appreciation for the good bout. Probably just some excitable Asashoryu fans.. but it is a bit odd to throw zabuton when a Yokozuna wins. :-P :-D

The Japanese sumo crowd in Fukuoka immediately sensed that with Musashimaru's loss, an era came to an end. Then , they were suddenly reminded that there still is another Foreign Yokozuna, who tends to get on their nerves. He, as opposed to Musa who was well liked, won easily. Pissed some of them off. Zenjimoto 40 Posted November 15, 2003 Actually, in the NHK broadcast, it could clearly be seen that a "fan" was deliberately throwing a zabuton AT Asashoryu as he was leaving up the hanamichi...
Tenkashoryu 0 Posted November 15, 2003 Actually, in the NHK broadcast, it could clearly be seen that a "fan" was deliberately throwing a zabuton AT Asashoryu as he was leaving up the hanamichi... So you mean fans were showing their dislikeness to shoryu instead of an appreciation for the good bout? I donna about that. (Scratching chin...)

Not necessarily, but I am absolutely sure about this particular one... I wonder if I can make a couple screen captures to illustrate...
Zenjimoto 40 Posted November 16, 2003 (edited) Check it out: He missed, but pretty clear evidence of what he was trying to do: whack the Yokozuna in the head! (Scratching chin...) Edited November 16, 2003 by Zenjimoto
Zentoryu 154 Posted November 16, 2003 Can't say I'm surprised... (Scratching chin...) (Sign of disapproval) I'm not exactly a big fan of Asa's off-dohyo antics, but in no way would I condone people throwing things at him on purpose. Granted, it's only a seat cushion, but still... >(Eh?)
Kotoseiya Yuichi 3 Posted November 16, 2003 I'm probably one of the more vocal opponents of Asashoryu but nothing indeed can justify that kind of behaviour. >(Scratching chin...)
Onnagumo 4 Posted November 16, 2003 He missed, but pretty clear evidence of what he was trying to do: whack the Yokozuna in the head! (Scratching chin...) Unbelievable..... I mean, I'm not the world's greatest Asashoryu fan either, but this kind of behaviour is ridiculous..... (Just do not get it...)
Tenkashoryu 0 Posted November 16, 2003 Thanks Zenji for the photo, now I understood what you were talking. Oh man that guy was trying so hard to hit on the head, what a jerk! I can't believe these people. (Scratching chin...)
