Manekineko 200 Posted November 23, 2003 It is time for me to assess my success and lack of it in various games. This basho I debuted in two new games: Ciber-sumo and Sekitori Oracle, bringing the number of games I actively participate in to dizzy 10! In order of results book-keeping... 1. Bench Sumo - kk on senshuraku! Woo-hoo! 2. ISP - 11-4, together with a heap of others. Woo-hoo! 3. ChainGang - out on day 11, my personal best in the game so far. Kinki is the guilty one, but I can't really complain. Woo-hoo! 4. Tipp Spiel - at the very bottom of makushita division, with meagre 102 points. Really, really, really shitty basho. I have no excuses. Boo-hoo. 5. UDH - final results are not out yet, but I doubt a miracle had happened. On day 14 I was 0-15... after a full year of holding sekiwake rank! Oh, the shame! The horror! The complete wipe-out! Whiiiiiiiine! The culpable lineup contained Dejima, Tamanoshima, Toki and Kyokushuzan, and brought measly, detestable and puny 99 points. Boo-hoo-hoo. 6. Hoshitori - well it started awfully, but in the end I was 6-9, quite decent result (especially when compared to UDH). Ho-hum. 7. Roto Sumo - wiping the bottom of Makuuchi division. Bleh. Final results as yet unknown, but can't be good. Ah well, after such great result in Aki, complete bomb-out could have been expected. Boo-hoo. 8. Ciber Sumo - well, I managed to get my heya-gashira into positive points, and my heya is not the very last, so I guess it's not that bad for the first basho, and definitely not as bad as it seemed to be somewhere around nakabi. Final records of Yamaoroshi-beya are 3-4, and 2x 2-5... Ho-hum. 9. Sekitori oracle - no idea how I did as results aren't out yet. By my count my sum is 495 points, but errors in sumation do happen. 10. Juryo game - if I counted allright, 10-5! Guessed all kk rikishi correctly, missed on yusho guess (Kaiho, heh) but had Kokkai in my team, missed the worst makuuchi (Tamakasuga, when Otsupotsu did worse) and best ex-sekitori (picked Kotoiwakuni, who was the worst of the bunch) but guessed best hope (Roho). This equals my PB under new rules. Woo-hoo! And as garnish on top - mk kid Kotokaneko finally kked with 4-3! Woo-hoo! So, on average, this basho was woo-hoo! Woo-hoo! Yoavoshimaru 0 Posted November 23, 2003 Good job Manekineko-zeki. (Holiday feeling...) Definitely woo-hoo and not boo-hoo. Says me, the absolute bottom-dweller of the RotoSumo juryo division :-D
Naifuzan 1 Posted November 23, 2003 I got MK in most games, but to my big surprise I managed to get 10-5 in hoshitori by some sort of miracle. (Holiday feeling...)
Kashunowaka 300 Posted November 23, 2003 This is fun! 1. Bench Sumo - kk on senshuraku! Woo-hoo! Me in lowly sandanme: 10-5! Woo-hoo! 2. ISP - 11-4, together with a heap of others. Woo-hoo! 8-7. Nearly everyone made kachi-koshi. Ho-hum. 3. ChainGang - out on day 11, my personal best in the game so far. Kinki is the guilty one, but I can't really complain. Woo-hoo! Out on day 1. Boo-hoo. 4. Tipp Spiel - at the very bottom of makushita division, with meagre 102 points. Really, really, really shitty basho. I have no excuses. Boo-hoo. Even worse basho than Manekineko!!! And to think that I won yusho last time. Double boo-hoo! It seems like half the members of SumoForum Ichimon have been present at the very bottom of the UDH standings. I soared to 2-13 on day 14. Boo-hoo. 6. Hoshitori - well it started awfully, but in the end I was 6-9, quite decent result (especially when compared to UDH). Ho-hum. Finally a good result in a pre-basho game: 10-5! If it hadn't been for Wakanosato, I would have had an even better result. Woo-hoo! 7. Roto Sumo - wiping the bottom of Makuuchi division. Bleh. Final results as yet unknown, but can't be good. Ah well, after such great result in Aki, complete bomb-out could have been expected. Boo-hoo. RotoSumo was the absolute pits this basho for me! Demotion to jonokuchi - say no more. Boo-hoo! Ho-hum. First basho for me too. My heya finished in the middle of the field, with my heyagashira #31 of 163! Woo-hoo! 9. Sekitori oracle - no idea how I did as results aren't out yet. By my count my sum is 495 points, but errors in sumation do happen. No idea. I do have a spreadsheet with points, but I haven't checked. Woo-hoo! I haven't counted here either, but looking at my team, it's safe to say: Boo-hoo. Then there is ... Guess The Banzuke - 3-12! Guess the number of sanyaku wrong in GTB, and you are toast ... Boo-hoo. GISP - around middle of the field. Ho-hum. Fantasy Sumo - I was doing alright at first, but when both Kotonowaka and Tamarikido went kyujo, I sank like a stone. Boo-hoo. Guess The Result - I don't think the result has been published yet. At last I am sure I did better than last basho, when I finished last. CyberSumo - 19th place, better than average. Woo-hoo. Sumo Game - bad basho for no particular reason. 5-10. Boo-hoo. Odd Sumo - 25.041 points, clearly above the kk/mk limit in makushita. Woo-hoo! Sekitori-Toto - on senshuraku I finally managed kk with a very good score. Woo-hoo! And finally 4-11 in Zenjimoto's evil game Sekitori-Quadrumvirate! Boo-hoo. Overall a ho-hum basho in the games, but since I did well in the games I care about the most (Bench Sumo and Seki-Toto), it was woo-hoo!
jomojo 0 Posted November 23, 2003 This is fun!Overall a ho-hum basho in the games, but since I did well in the games I care about the most (Bench Sumo and Seki-Toto), it was woo-hoo! I tend to enter most of the daily games - six at the moment. I managed kachi-kochi in Benchsumo, Tip Spiel, and ODDSUMO, the three games where I'm most likely to pick up Superbanzuke points. :-D Woo-hoo! Although in the three (non-Japanese) pre-basho games I entered, I may have a chance ... Juryo Game, GISP, and Fantasy Sumo. In ISP, I "only" achieved a 9-6 record, which may convert to a slight downward movement on the banzuke. Same thing in Sekitori-toto, where I went mk on the final day. Chaingang, I still haven't figured out at all, this time going out on Day 1 by picking Ama. (Holiday feeling...) Boo-hoo! cheers, jomojo
Kotoseiya Yuichi 3 Posted November 23, 2003 Let's see... Fantasy Sumo: 65 points and position 60 out of 86 players. (Sign of disapproval) Hoshitori: #174, 0-15 as is my tradition. (Sign of disapproval) (Sign of disapproval) (Sign of disapproval) Sekitori-Toto: 10-5 and inching towards sekitorihood. (Sign of approval) Tip-Spiel: 120 points, #37 of 99, KK/MK line at 120.09. (In a state of confusion...) Odd Sumo: 32.547, #25 of 107, #9 of 42 in my own division so KK. (Sign of approval) UDH: Started well but ended in disaster whatever the end result is. (In a state of confusion...) Paper Oyakata: I think I participated in this one? Bench Sumo: 7-8, MK on only senshuraku after 4-7, I think. Lousy initial selections, almost as lousy daily playing. Small wonder I got even seven. Sumo Game: 10-5, 98 points (#9 of 140, 6.53 on average) and inching towards sekitorihood. (Sign of approval) Juryo Game: 5-2 (Sign of approval) GISP: Perhaps under average, waiting for senshuraku results. Sekitori-Oracle: 508 points, #53 of 129, 9-6, 10-5 adjusted. (Sign of approval) Chain Gang: Out on day 6. (Just do not get it...) RotoSumo: #12 of 26, so I guess it's a KK and return to makushita. (In a state of confusion...) Collectively.... Hmm... I need to further improve my preparations...

Fujisan 533 Posted November 23, 2003 Can you give me my final standing in UDH Kashunowaka? I was 6-9 but a low 19 points on senshuraku (a) likely means a drop. Thanks.

Fantasy Sumo-Yusho wow! you won Fantasy Sumo by a mile! cool team Kintamayama. jomojo I'd really like to go on and on about how I put a lot of thought into my entry, used tables and mulled over it forever, but actually, I just went with my favorite rikishi, regardless of anything. It took me exactly 3 minutes, which proves that it is mostly a question of luck. I could have had two of my guys go kyujo, and that would have been the end of it. Luck. Which is great if you can afford it..

It took me exactly 3 minutes, which proves that it is mostly a question of luck. I could have had two of my guys go kyujo, and that would have been the end of it. Luck. Which is great if you can afford it.. You're a modest fellow! Even having favourite rikishi - that to me says something about being able to back the right horses on your day. Having said that, yes, luck is a useful thing to have on your side at times as well. And I suppose it balances up over the broader picture... if Dejima had beaten Tamanoshima on the Final Day, the Benchsumo Juryo Yusho would have been yours! It was that close. So, I would say again, well done. (Sigh...) Enjoy your success. You deserve it. jomojo
Tokimori 0 Posted November 24, 2003 (edited) For me: Bench Sumo: 11-4 and a makushita jun-yusho... (Sigh...) ISP: 7-8 and a terrible makekoshi!!! ;-) Odd Sumo: 19.636 MK Chain gang: Out on day one >;-) Rotosumo: 1193p 6-9 at juryo 5 Juryo game: 9-6 at Juryo 4 :-) GISP: 69 down at the bottom... (Sign of disapproval) So it was only in bench sumo the ichimon effect took place. Otherwise it was a terrible basho. Maybe the sumo gods didn't look favourably on my not playing some of the other games this basho... Well, that will change next basho! Mmikasazuma 12 Posted November 25, 2003 Congratulations to everyone, especially to Kintamayama (Applauding...) This basho was a really good one for me! My favorit rikisi ...!!!! B-) :-O :-) (First prize...) Also I did much better in the games (Mmikasazuma): UDH: YUSHO (Punk rocker...) Hoshotori :Very bottom: 3-12 (Sign of disapproval) Cybersumo: #2 !!! :-) Chaingang: 11 days (Applauding...) Bench: KK :-D Roto: 8-7 :-) Sekitori Oracle: 7-8 adjusted: 8-7 B-) Odd sumo: 25,896 /MK :-) Cibersumo: way down :-S I will try even harder in January! Doitsuyama 1,185 Posted November 25, 2003 Ok... the time has come to confess my almost utter and total failure... Pre-basho games were a full disaster: Hoshitori: 2-13, demoted to Sekiwake UDH: 1-14, kadoban next basho Juryo game: 5-10 (second worst in Makuuchi division) Rotosumo: 5-10, Ōzeki hopes vanishing like Wakanosato... Sekitori-Oracle: 5-10, 12 wins possibly would have been good for Ōzeki promotion, but now I have to start from the scratch. Cibersumo: My main man was 44th (4-3) of 163, the two fill-ins were 6th (5-2) and 153th (2-5), the heya 15th of 56. Fantasy Sumo: 41st of 86 GISP: 32nd of 94 Daily games were somewhat better with two or three highlights: BenchSumo: 7-8, which is ok after a 0-4 start SumoGame: 10-5, I should have had that LAST basho instead of the 9-6... Sekitori-Toto: 7-8, Yakubi-shō ISP: 12-3, 7th overall, unusually good here... ChainGang: Out on 14th, jun-yūshō (Second prize...) Tippspiel: 86th 3-12, nothing worked here Cybersumo: (Third prize...) Seki-Quadrumvirate: 5-10 OddSumo: (First prize...) and promotion to Ōzeki very likely Some Japanese games I participated: Norizo: 13th of 68, 9-6 Hashiweb: 8-7. Zenjimoto won the Jūryō yūshō with 12-3 Taka's G1 game: 10-5, 3rd of 57 Makushita. Zenjimoto was 1st with 11-4. Taka's quiz: 8-7, best score of 141 players (First prize...) Moti forgot that one btw, he had a 7-8, so joint second best. Zenjimoto was 6-9. Infoseek: I entered, but don't appear in the kekka. Probably better so... Paper Oyakata: Forgot to enter this. Zenjimoto and Anjoboshi did well here.
Asashosakari 19,330 Posted November 25, 2003 I guess I'll add mine too, although the list of games I participate in is far shorter than most everybody else's. (First prize...) Hoshitori: Barely made it to 8-7, but I'll take what I can get, so woo-hoo! UDH: 3-12, the less said, the better. Rotosumo: 6-9 after a disastrous start into the basho (thanks to Kotomitsuki and Futeno's crappy week 1 results, mostly)...coulda been worse, I guess. Sekitoto: 8-7 with a win on senshuraku, and no, I did not pay off my opponents! Juryo promotion likely. (Sign of approval) Seki-Oracle: Jun-yusho (Second prize...) and one day I'll finally be better than Gachinco... ("Foiled again!", he said to himself...) Possible Makuuchi debut looming due to the banzuke expansion. (First prize...) Chaingang: Out on day 1 for the second straight basho. Note to self: Stay the hell away from picking Sato, Tenho and Mickey in the future... Seki-Quadrumvirate: Make-koshi 7-8 after being in the lead after Nakabi...grumble grumble. furanohana 3 Posted November 25, 2003 OK. Another results, now : mine ! GISP : 70 points, which is not very good; That will probably make me MK... Hope I won't fall too much in the banzuke. Juryo Game : 12-3 (Second prize...) in Juryo, with the same record as the winner, but less succesfull rikishis. Rotosumo : 7-8. Ozeki kadoban for next basho. I don't know why I choose Tochiazuma in every game except rotosumo, where I picked Chiyotaikai... With Tochiazuma, I would have been 8-7... Sumotalk : 5-10. One basho to completely forget here... Sekitori oracle : 7-8 (9-6 before adjustement). One more MK here... I haven't had a single KK here since I took the yusho... Hoshitori : 13-2, and a promotion to Se. Good. Cibersumo : That was my first basho there. In makushita, 5-2 as Furashoryu (15th overall), 4-3 as Furayama (82nd overall) and 3-4 as Furanohana (101st overall). Notice that my "first choice" (Furanohana) was the worst one... 13th as Furaho beya. Quite good for a first time, I think. UDH : 11-4 !!!! Wowww ! That's one of my best score in UDH ! I'm usually MK here. Cyber Sumo : 1280 pts. Not good. I didn't had fun in that game : I feel no control at all of the score. This was my 1st participation, and I don't know if I'll try it again next basho... ISP : 11-4 with quite a lot of people. That should be the equivalent of a KK. Odd Sumo : 28.584 in Juryo (36th overall), which makes a good KK (probably 9-6), and a sure promotion to makuuchi. Chain Gang : ended on day 4. 35th overall. Quite lucky so many people lost on the first 2 days. Sekitori toto : 6-9. Not very good. But not that bad either. Sumo game : 11-4 in makushita. That should grant me promotion to Juryo. My best result here ! Bench Sumo : 5-10, with 5 losses for the 5 last days... Makushita, here I come again ! In summary : 7 KK (or equivalent), 7 MK (or probable equivalent), and at Cibersumo : 2 KK and 1 MK. So something just slightly positive in the end.
