Tamanoshima gets a kick out of Asa

Recommended Posts

Angry phone calls are pouring into the Kyokai offices for the last hours, after it appeared that Asashouryuu kicked Tamanoshima out of the ring today with his knee. "His feet stayed in, so I went with my body", he explained. Tamanoshima, who saw it later on video: "I hadn't noticed that. Stuff happens". "His knee was a bit high but it was in the course of his movement", explained Hanaregoma Judging Chief.

Tamanoshima: "Oh yes, YES!!'

To be absolutely honest, yeah, it was a "bum's rush"... on purpose or not, that was the intention. Still, that, AFAIK, is perfectly legal, what with the vicious trips and leg play we've seen fom Asa and other rikishi in the past.

Let's face it. The Grand Yok plays with emotion. This would be perfectly within his character, to be added to the list of extra shoves, slaps, pushes and other finishing touches he's delivered while showing other guys "the door".

I think in a previous life, Asa was a bouncer. When he decides to hang them up, any club in New york will hire him in a minute.

Tamanoshima had clearly planted his feet and leaned back to regain his balance. Asa simply shoved him with his knee to make sure he was out. Nothing illegal or wrong or excessive about it.

Do people really make angry phone calls to the Association for stuff like this? Or is it just exaggeration? Is that what the old people do? Don't they have a Japanese forum they can bitch on?

Some people live for this. There's an old yiddish saying (the transliteration is close, but not quite on):

"Sis git seshmisin auf yenem's tuchas."

("It's good to kick someone else's butt.")
