Kintamayama 45,086 Posted December 12, 2009 (edited) It is being reported that Asashouryuu broke down and cried during a recording of a TV show- "Junk sports-Asashouryuu public trial" on Fuji TV, slated to be broadcast on Sunday December 13th. He showed an unexpected side of his image - the tough guy from the dohyo was weeping like a child. The show was out to examine if he was really the bad guy he was perceived to be, and the question was tackled from many angles. Towards the end of the show, "some words" (uttered by "some person" who has been supporting him since his arrival in Japan) caused him to break down for the first time in public since his arrival in Japan 12 years ago causing the staff and people there great surprise. He could not stop crying, so the chairman of the show Masatoshi Hamada from the comedy duo "Downtown" stopped the recording. Even after 20 minutes, Asashouryuu could not collect himself, and "could not move", it is reported. Other guests told tales of their encounters with Asa. Former baseball player Kazuhiro Sasaki told of how he met Asa, had a drunken quarrel over some trivial stuff with him, got into a scuffle, and later became friends with him. Asashouryuu himself told of how he fell in love with twice Olympic gold medalist female wrestler Saori Yoshida, becoming very red-faced in the process. So is he a good or bad guy? Washuyama 641 Posted December 14, 2009 I watched. It was pretty entertaining, but hard for me to understand as I don't know Japanese (I can pick out maybe 10% of a conversation.) Konishiki and Mainoumi were on it as well. (Konishiki looked good, almost svelt (for him)BTW.) The crying stemmed from a lady I thought may be his mother or another older lady from his childhood in Mongolia, but that is just a guess. At the end of the show they showed a bowling competition with the JUNK Sports crew vs a team of rikishi (Hakuho, Kotooshu, Kotomitsuki, Kotoshogiku, Miyabiyama, Aminishiki, Takamisakari and Toyonoshima.) The rikishi all had bowling shirts with their name on the back. 'Sakari did his 'schtick' prior to his turn, but all the rikishi, save one, needs to keep their day job because bowling ain't their thing. The beginning of the letter actually made me laugh because she basically apologized to the people of Japan for her son always creating a fuss! I thought she was about to give him a chewing out. But the tone and the content overall is much more doting than scolding (at least that's the way it comes across in the translation from Mongolian to Japanese). I would have cried as well, if my Mama would write such a letter 'bout me (Clapping wildly...) In Mongolian he said something like "Mom, I love you (too)" (Just got the verb) "Yokozuna, you are crying!?!" "yeah..bit embarrassing..." I happen to be happily married to a petite woman, but find Yoshida-san attractive as well. Very possibly Asashouryuu finds Yoshida-san to be "petite" as well, ne? Asa's company has organized wolf hunting for him. His people told that hunting was very successful. There are killed 5 wolves and Asa shot and killed 2 of them. She pinned her three opponents in 47, 44 and 58 seconds. This she accomplished despite a stress fracture in her right wrist. "It hurts when I press down on the mat with my right hand," she admitted. "But I decided to go ahead and fight with just my left." Her biggest fan was, of course, present at the venue and handed her a big bouquet of flowers after her victory.
