Manekineko 200 Posted January 4, 2004 Yes, I've seen the film. I liked it! Which is good, since I didn't really like the first two... Spectacular, certainly. Tear-jerker, as well. And at least two scenes that made me grin appreciatively. Me happy. :-) ps. Me not happy with the fact that there is an extended version for DVDs with "full" story... Seems to be cheating, somewhat. Pity Christopher Lee. >:-( Then again, spending 4-5 hours per film in cinema would be a bit much... :-) Manekineko speach-impaired due to sensory overload. Dreams will be fuzzy tonight. Onnagumo 4 Posted January 4, 2004 Manekineko speach-impaired due to sensory overload. :-) You're not the only one. It left me speechless, and for the people who know me, that means a lot :-) I've seen it last Friday with my hubby. Instead of having an enthusiastic evaluation of what we had just seen, we hardly said a word during most of the ride home. I think the first thing I said was: "Okay, that was the first time. When are we going again?" (in Dutch, of course) :-( Then again, spending 4-5 hours per film in cinema would be a bit much... I wouldn't mind :-) When the movie ended, I thought: "How can it be over already, I thought it would be 3,5 hours!" Then I looked at my watch and I saw that it was exactly 3,5 hours later, but I felt like I had been sitting there only half of that time..... In other words: I loved it!!!!! Kaikitsune Makoto 209 Posted January 4, 2004 Very nice ways to promote the movie ladies! :-) Must go to see soon! This was awesome advertisement for a movie! : I've seen it last Friday with my hubby. Naifuzan 1 Posted January 4, 2004 What a coincidence. I just got home from seeing the movie just a few minutes ago, and yes, I liked it as well. I didn't really like the first one that much, the second one I liked, and the 3rd one even better than the second. I'd recommend it to anyone who hasnt seen it yet! QttP 0 Posted January 5, 2004 Seen it about a week and a half ago. Good movie! I must say that TTT had disappointed me quite a bit at the time, with all the deviations from the book's plot. I feared that in the third movie, the deviations will be even stronger, but they weren't. Sure a lot was omitted (some of it will be in the extended version), but not much was presented in false ways, so the overall impression was loyal to the book. As for the extended editions thing... It indeed bothered me that in all three films, some scenes were deliberately omitted from the cinema version and left only in the director's cut. It seemed as a cheap scheme to squeeze more money from fans. But that's probably only half of the truth, because indeed as Manekineko had said - 3-3.5 hours is just about the maximum length of what you can show in the cinema without tiring and annoying the majority of viewers. Besides, there is no doubt that eventually all three extended editions will be released in one big collector's set. And I absolutely love collections, and sometimes even find myself paying for them more than they are worth. Moreover, I just had a short email convo with comrade Goblin of St. Petersburg yesterday (I believe I mentioned and praised him before in this forum), and he ensured me that he plans to eventually release all three extended editions with his modifications. I'm willing to wait for that.
Jesinofuji 11 Posted January 6, 2004 Oh it was a great movie. I can't wait for the extended version. The extended versions are the real movies. In FOTR and TTT, the theater versions just didn't stand up to the full versions. Some scenes shouldn't be cut no matter how long its going to make the movie. They should have left the scenes in and made 5-6 movies out of the story or something. All must see this series. ;-)

Kashunowaka 300 Posted February 6, 2004 I finally went to see the last film yesterday. Call me grumpy if you like, but I wasn't very impressed. Alright, I was impressed by some of the special effects, but the story isn't about special effects. I wasn't moved. (I am not worthy...)

Fujisan 533 Posted February 7, 2004 I must admit I have only seen the first one so far and although I wouldnt say it was the greatest film I have ever seen,I must have enjoyed it because despite its length I was slightly disappointed when it ended that it wasnt longer.
