Tumppi 0 Posted January 23, 2004 Zensho is more than close. Asa's still got 2 tough opponents though. But I don't think Asa will lose 2 times in a row to Tochiazuma. Whatever is wrong with Kaio? He let Asa behind him..

Well 3 is even more unlikely but I'll bee rooting for Tochi. Yes, Kaio, sometimes he seems to get a strong tachi-ai and just toss his opponents around in the ring, and sometimes, like today and yesterday he just looks like he doesn't care. Fujisan 533 Posted January 23, 2004 Chances of Asashoryu winning a Zensho yusho-Good. Chances Fujisan winning chaingang-Zilch. Should have stuck with Asa or gone with Miyabiyama, thinking that 9-3 Juryo Chiyotenzan would definately beat 3-9 Makuuchi Wakatoba was dumb.
sekihiryu 51 Posted January 24, 2004 getting closer to Zensho now To-choke-zuma with his spirit battered from a disappointing basho will have the favour returned with interest from the final bout of the Kyushu basho, my how the pendulum has swung (Blowing horn...) I seem to recall someone on the Sumo ML (cant remember who) spouting off that Zuma "owned" Asa. Well it will be nice to see who owns who today, I know where my money is. :-O

I seem to recall someone on the Sumo ML (cant remember who) spouting off that Zuma "owned" Asa. Well it will be nice to see who owns who today, I know where my money is. :-O Nobody 'owns' anybody I'd say and the poster over there is probably just an anti-Asa / anti-foreign ** or a huge pro Azuma fan of sumo or perhaps bits of all and any points inbetween. I have a great respect for Azuma and know more about him than I do about any of the other rikishi at the same rank. I know has a brown spot in a place he himself has never seen! I seriously want him (Azuma) to win today but I also seriously want Asa to get his zensho. And display more 'fan-service' which will bring the fans in again to a certain extent. Haven't put my picks in of Seki-toto yet for this very reason and I don't believe in a shared point option. Rikishi don't get it - why should we?. Aaaahhhhhhh!! ANR ** any boys watching the stream see that old fart in the background (crowd member) waving his fan with a Hinomaru on it and looking rather out of control? Now, he IS anti-foreign and anything foreign on the dohyo gets his waves of disapproval. Think he's an Olympic official in Japan or something connected to the J Olympic team. Mark Buckton 1 Posted January 25, 2004 (edited) Definitely, not a doubt, of course, huh like it's difficult for Asa-kun? Easy peesy. Do bears $#"! in the woods? ANR knows best. What it finished 2 mins ago? - damn!! - caught pretending the knowledge of hindsight is my own! Only kidding. (Blushing...) Asa rocks. Yoavoshimaru 0 Posted January 25, 2004 I'd say Asashoryu displayed some extra nice fan behavior by bowing all around during the yusho interview on the dohyo. Even the NSK commenators remarked it was unusual...

Fujisan 533 Posted January 28, 2004 One of the most interesting aspects in that old poll was not so much the people who said we wouldnt see a Zensho for a long while but the mention of Kotomitsuki and Kakizoe as possible candidates, considering their great performances in the same basho where the zensho was achieved. Cavewoman 0 Posted January 29, 2004 What do you call these seven "experts" who said that Asashoryu will never make Zensho-Yusho? MEN. (I am not worthy...)
Kotoseiya Yuichi 3 Posted January 29, 2004 I didn't claim he would never achieve a zensho yusho. I merely opined he wouldn't do it this time. He did. I'll go cut my balls off.
