Adachinoryu - permanent resident of Japan, fan of sumo in its purest form and berator of many. English by birth. Mancunian by the grace of God. Argumentative? Hell yeah! Cynical? To the core. Thick skinned? You could make handbags and shoes but having hosted around 10 columns in print / on the net on 2 continents in newspapers / mags etc it comes with the job!?

In short - a mean SOB at times but a cuddly, helpful and friendly individual who goes out of his way to help others (NPO founder/director).

Ask a question - get an honest answer. Painful answers offered with no sugar - honesty in its most basic form.

Still, with all of the above some of ANR's attributes have annoyed certain SF members over recent months.

To that end - you are all cordially invited to offer your advice via the poll above.

Why do I feel like it is feeding time at the zoo? (Eh?)

ANR

I second that.

I, for one, really appreciate that a forum member can bring real inside information from the world of sumo, thus your presence in these forums is a positive thing for me.

If you feel that you need to argue your view of sumo or the view of sumo by the residents of Japan, or if you feel you need to point the attention of the members to mistakes/falcifications/incompletenesses as they are present in the Japanese media and brought to this forum by other dedicated members - please do. These debates/conversations surely enrich the vision of sumo by all visitors of the forum.

But indeed it may be better if you tone down the style of your arguments. If I'm reading the situation correctly, what some members find offensive is not the fact that you publicly go against some "strong authorities" in the forum, but the fact that you sometimes do it in a very sarcastic manner, often including some personal stings where they were not necessary.

From where you are you see things that most of the visitors of the forum (including my humble self) don't see. Perhaps, in light of those things, you feel that some opinions/"facts" presented in their posts are the result of relative ignorance, but there is no need to throw that ignorance at them whenever you talk and to make it all personal.

Keep in mind that I am openly not taking any sides in your feuds with some of the members here. I may have said similar things to any of them if they started similar threads asking for opinions on what should they do regarding their feuds with Adachinoryu. But since the situation as it is is that it's mostly ANR vs. others and since you are the one who asked, I'm saying this to you.

These forums are here for fun. Let's keep it that way.

State all the opinions you want (with or without factual, theological, spiritual, etc. supprt), but please refrain from engaging in personal attacks upon others.

If anyone disagees with you, just let it go.

Had hoped the 'seppuku' selectors would post reasons as some have done above.

Your choice but so strong a choice made anonymously loses something I think. Whatever you say will be respected.

Too late now-

Apparently you weren't as thick skinned as you claim,if you believed in your posts and general approach you should have stuck with it-

You just had to be more careful whos cyber toes you trod on.

I also voted other. QttP and fukunoyama said what most of us are probably thinking.

Just be nice to people and show respect. It's that simple.

This is not a very good place to argue.

What it all boils down to is be prepared to take what you dish out. If you get personal, others will get personal back. If you send respect, others will respect...

As for cynicism and sarcasm, let it flow...but be aware of those who don't appreciate a good zing and let them live in THEIR fantasy world without the benefit of a healthy reality check. :-)

I voted other, though my other is not the same as Fukunoyama's.

I think Adachi should first consume 60,000 banana's. Then, he should have 4 cups of expresso, and finally a couple plates of good Okonomiyaki cause I know he's in Japan and its real good stuff--no not that monjayaki has to be okonomiyaki. Then he should hold this exact same poll again.

--note all of the above doesn't have to be done in one day. The bananas would be impossible to eat all in one day.

Yeah, seriously Fukunoyama said it best.

This forum can too often be a grave, cold and serious place. People are never going to fully share the same opinion, and too often are people here subject to ridicule for harboring opinions that stray from the norm. I say, if something is on your mind, let ius hear it! That's what were here for isn't it? To talk about Sumo. I'm not saying to say things offensive. I will say that often its not that what's being said is offensive so much as that people are being offended too easily --way too easily.

However, since a ,month has passes since the subject all but died - how come none of the 7 recommending a form of seppuku or other have got the bollocks to say why?

I a'int out to make friends or influence people but ........

Jesi-san - down in Kanagawa you are WAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY too close to the Kansai people. Okonomiaki over Monjayaki - no way. That's like cheap wime over champagne. Ugh.

Appreciate your coments though but bananas are too expensive here - no?

i am new to this forum but from what i have seen you just need to relax a bit and stop seing enemies everywhere.

The fact that some people disagree with you is normal and i would also add healthy.

If my opinion was matching everybody other's i would feel very bad for myself.

the difference is in the way you react to other's disagreements.Don't try to "execute" them an don't try to change everybody's mind.It is not only futile but tiring to you and to other's.

i am most welcome on hearing different views on a subject but noone likes a smartass who tries to force his opinion on others........

this forums is for talking to people with mutual interests and having fun.If the later is not fulfilled then there is no mean on being here.

(I was stupid...)
