For francophones and/or people who just like to watch; the French version of 'A Normal Life: Chronicle of a Sumo Wrestler' that Inhashi posted on October 18. This version is good quality, shorter (55min), but contains some scenes not in the version Inhashi posted. The opening frames with gorgeous Kyukoshuho are there.

Is there not anyone who has is with the english subtitles that used to be on youtube? I would really like to watch it again. Btw, Kyokutaisei will be at J7 next basho!

Looks as if we'll all have to stoically wait. It exists on DVD and I think you can rent it from Google Play too if you're desperate.

This has Masunoyama, who kind of worries me, he is always really out of breath and they said he had a heart condition, then they got a second opinion and they said he didn't have one! Well he had surgery and he was down in Jonidan after missing a year or so. We will see if he bounces back.

I still have a few more documentaries saved but not ready to publish yet and many just not up-loadable due to copyright restrictions.  Most of the stuff I find are on DailyMotion, SOKU, and a few other sources that come up on Google video search.  Trying to stick to mostly individual documentaries, but may throw in the occasional silly variety show clips too.  Link to my channel with the videos posted above by 808morgan: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLj_5xaD5AfJBDSCCMos_H6q1MWBker_JB

24 minutes all in Japanese about Hakuho. Seems to contrast his career with another Mongolian rikishi, now retired  whose face I remember, but not his name.

In Japanese. I enjoyed it without understanding what they were saying. A lot of discussion, interviews, bouts, public opinion 38 mins. Kitanofuji, Mainoumi, Kotoshogiku, Goueidou, Kisenosato, Satoyama, Ishiura, Ura and others.

It is the NHK review of 2016 year in  Grand Sumo. There are those with subtitles, look for CC in the search description.

Thanks for the advice, but  I'm perfectly happy to watch it in Japanese wthout subtitles.

Two programmes about Kisenosato's first yusho as a yokozuna (first one about Kisenosato in spite of the mugshot's being of Takayasu). In Japanese. Similar content and both about 25 minutes long.

Hello all! I've been a lurker for a while now but I decided to register when I saw this mini-documentary about former Chiganoura Okami-san, Sekiwake Masudayama's wife. I don't think it's been posted here before, so here goes. It's from episode 32 of the 2008 series Japanese Style Originator. I only managed to record the documentary via phone since screen grabbing and screen recording is now banned on Netflix. It's about 6 minutes long starting 42:45. For anyone who wants to see an HD version, you can watch it on Netflix.

More information about the series from TV Tokyo (In Japanese).

Episode Summary: A day with strong women of Japan, including a nun, the head of a sumo stable, a rakugo comedian, and a portable shrine carrier in a festival.
