Takamizawa 0 Posted July 11, 2010 In addition to McDonalds y'all should complement the healthy lifestyle by drinking lots of Ozeki sake... No problem here; I think I get an ozeki 1.5 cup literally EVERY time I go to a combini. They're irresistable!

No problem here; I think I get an ozeki 1.5 cup literally EVERY time I go to a combini. They're irresistable! unfortunatelly our top-japanese-restaurant has no ozeki-sake anymore.....only the cups with ozeki written on them are left.....
Kintamayama 45,111 Posted July 11, 2010 Contrary to what I had hoped, no ka-ching at the box office today-on the contrary- no full house on day 1 of Nagoya for the first time since 1985 (since the Kyokai started keeping records).
Kintamayama 45,111 Posted July 11, 2010 (edited) The yusho parade will be held as usual, it is being reported. That's a good thing, so why is it in this thread? Because someone might fall out of the car. Harharhar. Edited July 11, 2010 by Kintamayama

Why should they go down to the gym when they can see a nice clean stream from the comfort of their own homes? Anyway, the building sure looked full to me. Any chance that they are simply refraining from unfurling the Manin Onrei banners?

Peterao 3 Posted July 11, 2010 Apparently they struggled with the decision of whether or not to unfurl the banner. The crowd of about 7200 was less than last year's shonichi of 8000, but apparently 7290 is enough to warrant unfurling. They consulted with tempriji, and ultimately the decision not to do it was made.

Asashosakari 19,319 Posted July 11, 2010 New 'feature' on the Kyokai site. Spot the difference: Rikishi #1 - Rikishi #2 - Rikishi #3.
Kofuji 0 Posted July 11, 2010 New 'feature' on the Kyokai site. Spot the difference: Rikishi #1 - Rikishi #2 - Rikishi #3. Which will screw up my data scraper as it won't know what to do with the new feature ...
Fay 1,677 Posted July 11, 2010 New 'feature' on the Kyokai site. Spot the difference: Rikishi #1 - Rikishi #2 - Rikishi #3. and Mickey the only one who keeps smiling ... (Applauding...)
Asashosakari 19,319 Posted July 11, 2010 and Mickey the only one who keeps smiling ... (Applauding...) Well, this guy isn't. (A bit of an overkill to adjust his rikishi profile...)
Jejima 1,384 Posted July 12, 2010 Did Roho and Wakakirin 'retire' - I thought otherwise. I am, guessing it is a technicality - such as their Oyakatas submitting the 'retirement' papers on their behalf....
ryafuji 814 Posted July 12, 2010 and Mickey the only one who keeps smiling ... (Applauding...) Well, this guy isn't. (A bit of an overkill to adjust his rikishi profile...) Not to mention rather misleasing as it suggests he was dismissed while active which is obviously not the case.

I suppose they wanted to make a point, but that is really mean. And as ryafuji pointed out, not actually correct.
Asashosakari 19,319 Posted July 12, 2010 (edited) Did Roho and Wakakirin 'retire' - I thought otherwise. No, that's what I was getting at. Earlier dismissals and also other "non-standard retirements" such as dying while active always resulted in the normal "(retired)" marker; this is the first time they've deviated from that to add a special note. Edit: Oh, I'm lying...the three Tokitsukaze rikishi who were dismissed after being sentenced to jail time for the Tokitaizan incident don't have any marker at all. An odd oversight. Kintamayama 45,111 Posted July 12, 2010 A. Only 4500 spectators today, 800 less than last year. 223 tickets were refunded today. B. Tomorrow, only 10 kensho overall-tied for worst ever in Nagoya (in 1970 on day 4 too). C. All 12 Ounomatsu-beya rikishi lost on day 2.
Doitsuyama 1,185 Posted July 12, 2010 C. All 12 Ounomatsu-beya rikishi lost on day 2. It's more like "All 12 Onomatsu-beya rikishi had only losses in the first two days"

Not taking rikishi's relative strength into account, there's 1 in 8192 chance of that happening naturally, assuming it is happening naturally.
