NSK Video Stream - Nagoya 10

Recommended Posts

vlc works just fine! much better than WMP.

I tried both. I get a much better video resolution on WMP 11 than I do on VLC or on WMP 10.

Need some help on recording the new stream. In the past, I used SDP Downloader to record the .asf stream. We now have an .asx stream and it does not like it. Looking for a new recording package.

AFAIK, VLC records everything. And BTW, I don't know if the old URL is just another mirror for the new one, but it sure looks perfect, nothing even remotely resembling the old fuzzy.

I can't get the streaming. I'm desperate. When I type the new address in WMP, it's not working and when I go to goo sumo and click on the link to get it, I'm told that VLC cannot open the file. What can I do ???

Please, help me !

On one of my systems, I had to reset file type .asx to run WMP vice VLC. Go to file options / file types in the Control Panel, find .asx in the file types list and change it permanently to WMP. This allows the above URL's to work in WMP if you want them to.

Thanks for your help. And thanks to Ilovesumo by pm. I'm not good in computers so I really don't understand what happened, but with Firefox, VLC couldn't read the file, then I tried with IE and it worked. Don't know why. But I'm happy now ! (Sigh...)

(On a totally different note, I wonder if the incidence of henka will be significantly less this basho?)

I'd rather say significantly less hands down if today's Hokutoriki is an indicator. :-/

Thanks for the new link. The quality was much better than usual. Lets hope they keep it up, not just for this basho.

asx isn't a stream format itself, it's just a meta text file used to send streaming addresses to the application. The file linked on eizo2.html has always been named sumolive.asx, just the content has changed now. SDP may expect to be fed the direct link to the Akamai server, not the redirector file. (It worked fine for me on WM Recorder.)

Thanks for the new link. The quality was much better than usual. Lets hope they keep it up, not just for this basho.

Organizational inertia being what it is, even good changes should be perpetuated for a while. :-/

For some reason I can only get this to work on VLC today. Day one and two I watched on Quicktime without any issues but today it won't work. VLC had been giving me sound issues but now that Makuuchi has started all seems well. Thanks.

Dang!

just got kicked out of the stream while it was buffering, right before the Osh-Ami bout!

I use Windows Media Player 9 and Firefox 3.6.6

Did anyone experience that during this basho?

Thanx in advance for some feedback or hints.

Thanks for the direct mms link. :-) How did you find that? My recording program only shows mms://a33.l10159940032.c101599.a.lm.akamaistream.net/D/33/101599/v0001/reflector:40032 (which doesn't work because it misses the additional parameters).

Edit: Nevermind, now I see it. The link capturing didn't work the first time.

Looks like the bitrate got another bump to 290 kbit.
