Aki 10 Video Stream

Which Keyhole TV station was airing NHK? Only one I could find that wasn't a radio station was password protected. :P

That one, and the password is the name of the Network that resumed broadcast this basho, you know, the three letters.

Thanks. :)

Just checked today's NHK Sougou TV schedule (which is streamed thru KeyholeTV) and due to the Kan vs. Ozawa DPJ leadership erection, sorry election thingy going on ,

sumo broadcast at NHK will start at 15:45h.

link: http://cgi4.nhk.or.jp/hensei/program/index.cgi

Unless the NSK stream is coming up earlier chances are very low to get a glimpse of some Juryo or even Makushita action today... (Welcome...)

As I don't speak Japanese, all these signs look strange to me and don't tell me where to click to get the video. Help needed ! :-)

NSK stream's up with the final juryo bout; looks like they have sorted out the frame rate issue.

Sorry, I didn't think about that as I was in a hurry. I found a better link, showing all the scheduled broadcast times of the Aki Basho at NHK that you can watch via KeyholeTV:

http://www.nhk.or.jp/sports2/coming/sumo.html

Look for the blue box with the the Japanese characters (not BS2 or R1) and you see the scheduled times in Japanese Standard Time,

e.g. for tomorrow

Sep. 15 it will be

1:50-2:14 a.m. (recap of Day 4) and

15:12-18.00 (live broadcast of Day 5)

Hope this will help you and also let's hope there won't be any "important" Diet sessions that will change the NHK schedule

Today the quality of the stream is really bad, or is it just me?

As far as I can see, although the quality is lower it's smoother than yesterday (must be the frame rate).

Not pretty, but I at least I can see the sumo, not just 'chop-chop-chop yorikiri (how did that happen?)'

Best quality stream since the beginning of the basho, at least for me.

May be a slight improvement for me. I have had not complaints from day 1. Nagoya was better though.

Just peepin' thru the Keyhole(TV) and guess who is NHK's guest commentator on this special day:

Kokonoe oyakata a.k.a. moto-yokozuna Chiyonofuji.

Less than 2 hours remaining for his record 2nd longest winning streak.

Nicely done, NHK!

Not even the frame rate issues other people had for the first two days? Either way, for me it's been pretty constant in quality since that was fixed.

Nagoya was better though.

No doubt, but I guess the 300k stream isn't coming back if they've decided to host things in-house again. I'd gladly forgo the higher quality anyway if juryo came back on...

I must admit that I haven't watched it much without the Juryo and below matches. I have been using TVJapan with only occasional stream checks. I want my lower division guys!

In case you wonder why the stream doesn't start as early as it used to, here's how it went.

NSK bigwig, before Nagoya Basho:

"Listen, boys, NHK won't broadcast, so you'll need to go live earlier this time with the start of Juryo."

Little camera boys, mumbling to themselves:

"Er...but...we've been going live before Juryo for ages now..."

"Shush, keep quiet! Let's get over it as usual and then pull back in Aki Basho so nobody of the bigwigs will notice."

Why aren't we yet really in the "TV goes internet-age" and a camera starting to stream from maezumo on.

This. Even if it was a stationary camera, I think it would be great.
