Where are the links gone (Database etc.)? Maybe I'm a bit blind ...

Right clicking a photo no longer allows to copy the image URL. Editing the post brings up the image. So we can't copy a URL anymore?

Other than that I find the upgrade awesome and am finding cool stuff every hour..

In edit mode, click the upper left Toggle Edit Mode button to get the URL instead of the full pic. Is there a way to set the default for this button?

I can get the URL just fine, if I right click on an image and the right click again. When editing, flick the Toggle editing mode switch in the upper left hand corner of the edit box to see raw text.

Left- or Right-clicking an image now brings it up in a dedicated image view popup (for no good reason, as far as I'm concerned). There's a "Save" option in that popup, which doesn't actually open up a save-as file dialog as I expected, but loads the image directly from its original URL, so it can be copied from there. Still very cumbersome.

BTW, for those who were dismayed by a certain large signature recently - it's now possible to ignore signatures selectively. Put your mouse pointer on top of a sig and an X will appear to the right, where you can choose to hide that sig. As an alternative path, the Ignore Users feature (in your Control Panel) has been expanded and now allows you to ignore people's posts and signatures separately, as well as block them from sending you PMs independently of the other two settings.

Right-clicking again in the image popup, you mean? I just tried that about 10 times and once I did get the usual right-click options for an inline image, the other 9 times it was treated as a HTML page, so only "Back", "Reload", "Add Bookmark" etc. showed up.

Can we get back the mandatory spacing in between a quote box and the first line of the new comment/the next quote box? I recall this was an issue in a previous board update as well, but quotes that look like the one below still drive me nuts whenever I see them. (They're prevalent on Sumotalk, and also on Yuku boards.) The last time you fixed it was before the modern WYSIWYG editor, of course, so perhaps it's not as easy this time.

How can I change the number of posts on one page? I used to see tens of them before they went to a second page, now a second page is made after only five posts? That will drive me crazy when we have an interesting thread for sure..

There used to be, but I can't see one. So probably not.

Yes. As long as I keep the mouse cursor on the image while it is enlarged, I can get it every time. Tricky, I know. And stupid, yes.

That's starting to bug me as well. I'll see what I can do about it.

I still get the old default of 25. Anyway though, I can't find a personal setting in "My Settings" to change that anymore...surely that can't be right?

Another, perhaps browser-related issue - was the standard encoding of the old forum version also UTF-8? I get lots of funky encoding errors in my old PM's thanks to their featuring a lot of umlauts which I can only fix by switching to ISO-8859 and the like. Conversion issue with old database content...? Unfortunately I can't test this issue myself since it's no longer possible to PM oneself, but from what I can tell by previewing a message umlauts entered freshly appear fine, while quoting an old message does not fix its errors.

Edit: Many thanks for the avatar and line-feed fixes! (I am not worthy...) (And that's just the ones I've noticed already, so thank you for any others as well.)

Just noticed that timestamps now work time zone-independently - excellent.

On the other hand, my recent BBCode table here looks rather busted. I'm afraid to look at the collegiate sekitori thread now...

Heh, I thought I'd stumbled onto the wrong forum for a second there. :-D

I like the look, but all these new features are going to take some getting used to.

The chance would be a fine thing - I get a 500 Internal Server Error when I try to access the first page; second page works fine. Have you broken our nice new forum already? :-D

The table should be fine, it's just lacking any css. That's also on the to-do list.

A week without proper internet, and now this! The shock!

I am a very old school forum user, and all the facebookish styles make me somewhat grumpy. At the moment I am very confused that I somehow cannot see which threads have new entries that I didn't see yet. Am I missing something? Do I have to tweek some settings? OMFG! Where ARE the settings?!

There's also a new media embedding feature, but I'm not sure how it works.

Edit: Oh, so that's how it works.

Was that huge block of blank space (above) intentional?

Also, were our avatar images always so large as compared to the message area? (using Firefox)

Any way to get the Preview Post and Cancel buttons to display in the default posting window? Right now you have to click on the Other Posting Options button to get to them.

I assure you, it is not a blank space. :-)

I think so, the maximum width is still 128 pixels. It probably just looks bigger because of all the margins and padding.

No, unfortunately. The Other Posting Options button works like the Preview Post button, though. Try it, type something and click Other Posting Options, it'll show a preview.

My query about my sudden inability to post more than 50 KB in a single table after the last software update didn't tip you off that things are a bit extreme in there? ;-) I also can't access the first page of that thread, for what it's worth. If you need to wipe my offending posts completely, feel free - I have the data backed up in a spreadsheet (minus some minor notes that I can probably restore via Google Cache).

Edit: I've MHT'ed the Google Cache copy now, so I'm fine whatever drastic measures you may need to take. For the future - will things be less likely to be br0ken if I use straight HTML tags instead of BBCode?

I think the part of the database that caches your previous views didn't make the trip to the new setup. Clicking "Mark this forum as read" in the offending subforums (probably works globally, too) should reset things so that it works as intended going forward. Of course, you're perhaps in the situation that you haven't read everything after your week-long absence, which complicates your reading experience a bit...

Tested input of my smaller 21 game table, and it too is busted.

Calm down, guys. :-) Your tables are fine. The board parser is choking on that one thread, but the tables are intact.

The current limit is 600kB! (Eh?) I'll need to do a bit of research, but let's not give up on that thread yet. I'll hide it for the time being, so it doesn't cause unnecessary hangups. For the future, HTML won't work, so use BBCode.

That did the trick. Thanks. Now I still miss the global "Mark all posts as read" button. Sigh.

Nice look! Much, much better than the old frozen tundra blue. Nice to see some white. Good choice.

Late add: The more I see of the "new" Forum, the more I like. Nice update!

Tables seem to be back to normal now! Checked the elections page 4 and the Heisei Hopefuls thread (that was a bit of a slow loader, BTW, but it got there) and they look fine to me. Nice work Exil! (Applauding...) (I am not worthy...)
