Akinomaki 40,779 Posted June 16, 2012 (edited) Baruto returned to Japan from Estonia on the 14th and started keiko on the 15th. Especially doing teppo thrusting. "In Estonia I did shiko, suri ashi and stretching. What I couldn't do was teppo. There they have no teppo poles." His figure shows enough tightness. In addition to the white star 3rd class from Estonia, he received an award from his home town Rakvere. Edited June 16, 2012 by Akinomaki
Akinomaki 40,779 Posted June 17, 2012 Hakuho was in bad shape and cancelled short the last Tokyo keiko on the 16th. Someone involved visiting his home said he found him still lying in bed. Taking of a a TV commercial at noon was postponed as well. Miyagino-oyakata was astonished: "He did maybe too much keiko and is seriously exhausted", having trained hard after the Natsu basho. As the sole yokozuna, a multitude of events and TV appearances prevented him from resting enough. Now the heya will prepare for going to Nagoya and till the 26th there will be no keiko. Orion 431 Posted June 17, 2012 That sounds likely. ;-} How I wish we were back in an era when people say what they mean and mean what they say. even if it doesn't quite fit the image.... Orion
Akinomaki 40,779 Posted June 17, 2012 (edited) Kakuryu tried pressure training. He was on de-geiko to Tokitsukaze-beya on the 16th and after 10 training bouts with Toyonoshima he put on the arm belt. With pressure he did push-ups and other things to strengthen the muscles. "Without using heavy objects, it presumably has an effect. My arm went numb a bit, but it didn't feel hard." He'll check if he'll continue to use it. This time he used it with 500mmHg pressure, the most the device provides. The agent for the device remarked: "With little power there is big effect. This time he used it with twice the normal pressure. With that enormous strain, nobody puts it on the arm." Akinomaki 40,779 Posted June 18, 2012 Kotooshu is getting better. He lent his chest to the young rikishi in butsukari-geiko. Moushiai and the like is still not possible. "With the left leg I can hold out so it (butsukari-geiko) is OK. There is still pain." This week it is planned to go to Nagoya. Before that with an X-ray the state of recovery gets checked. Akinomaki 40,779 Posted June 20, 2012 Kotooshu did some tachi-ai practice with the young ones from the heya. "Impacting this hard is the first time since the injury". "I really wanted to do moushiai training here with the young ones and wanted to begin to train with sekitori after going to Nagoya. I'm a bit late (in preparation)." While doing butsukari-geiko with juryo Kotoyuuki, when the opponent leg was touching his right leg, he broke it off. "When digging my foot in it still hurts." Akinomaki 40,779 Posted June 22, 2012 Hakuho sun-tanned, back to Japan from a four day trip to Mongolia, where he was on invitation from a government involved person. "I had returned there just lately. This is a first." He plans to do keiko with Kyokutenho. The lodgings of both their heya in Nagoya are in the same area. Akinomaki 40,779 Posted June 26, 2012 Hakuho held a press conference on the 26th. "In my inside the yusho is a special thing. I'll get this back." About Kyokutenho's yusho and finishing 10-5 himself: "My great senior made a deep impression on me, but I was taught again the toughness of the contest." Being a yokozuna 30 basho: "Already 30, it's fast. It's my fate so I have to endure it." He started keiko again this day: "No problem with my physical condition." Akinomaki 40,779 Posted June 26, 2012 Kisenosato "Like last basho I want to go all out from day one. Making it aware, I want to hammer it into my body." Doing 22 bouts with Takayasu and Takanoyama, he polished his left-right ottsuke from a low tachiai. After the moushiai he pulled 100kg Takanoyama on a tire: "using slightly different muscles than usual makes it interesting"

Akinomaki 40,779 Posted June 26, 2012 (edited) A bit more from Hakuho's press conference: I'm devoted while returning to the basics. I'd be happy to give you the sight of me embracing the cup. About the 10-5: It was painful but I involved myself in the yusho race till senshuraku. About Kyokutenho: That if you don't give up good thinks happen was again shown to me. As a sole yokozuna never failing 2 times in a row to get the yusho: Saying to "fetch it back" from my Mongolian great senior is perhaps disrespectful, but this time only I want to go on without restraint. Akinomaki 40,779 Posted June 28, 2012 Kotoshogiku has no training partner for his goal to get the first yusho. Kotooshu can't train with him and there are no plans for degeiko. On the 27th he did 10 bouts (8-2) at sanbangeiko with Kotoyuuki after the finishing the basics (shiko etc.). Then he continued directly with butsukarigeiko. The strain in the back of his left thigh he suffered in the bout against Toyohibiki last basho has healed. He couldn't find any place for degeiko at the rikishi-kai, where he tried as instructed. For a Tokyo basho the heya of the same ichimon Naruto and Matsugane are 10 minutes away by car. In Nagoya its one hour. The closest is Sakaigawa-beya with 30 minutes, but the relation is not that close. Keiko with Kotoyuuki Daily sports
Akinomaki 40,779 Posted June 28, 2012 Hakuho earnestly started his quest for winning back the cup. On the 27th in the Miyagino-beya location he had the first moushiai since banzuke publication. 21 bouts against the makushita of his heya, Yamaguchi, Ryuou and Houkahou, winning all: "It was good keiko, like always. In Tokyo I did 30 bouts". The day before he did the basics for 30 minutes, this day he worked up a sweat for two hours. For next week he plans to go for degeiko.
Akinomaki 40,779 Posted June 29, 2012 (edited) On the 29th Hakuho did 17 bouts with the young ones from makushita. There seems to be no ill effects remaining from the broken finger. He's slowly picking up the pace. One is about 12 kg With makushita Yamaguchi Edited June 29, 2012 by Akinomaki
Akinomaki 40,779 Posted July 1, 2012 The coming week Hakuho plans for degeiko, so far he hasn't trained with sekitori. On the 1st he trained 20 bouts with makushita . After the Nagoya basho he plans for a 5 day sight seeing trip to Mongolia with members of his new Nagoya Koenkai. If he doesn't get the yusho it may become a "broken heart tour." Akinomaki 40,779 Posted July 1, 2012 (edited) Hakuho: "It starts tomorrow". On the 2nd and 3rd it's the Tomozuna visit. The 4th and 5th degeiko is planned. During this 4 days he plans to build up his form in one go. "The season has changed, my feeling has also changed. Now the body must change as well." In the evening he was at a party of the Nagoya Miyagino fan-club. "In the hot Nagoya I'm devoting myself to keiko. Aiming for the yusho I want to do my best." he said in front of 230. Nikkan He is also being advised by a dietetics expert, Toyofumi Yamada. "One has to be careful what to eat, that's it" the yokozuna simply puts it. "I take care to eat a lot of vegetables, I drink Aojiru vegetable juice every day." After morning practice Edited July 1, 2012 by Akinomaki
Akinomaki 40,779 Posted July 2, 2012 (edited) At the first day of Miyagino-Tomozuna keiko the yokozuna at first selected Kyokutenho. 5 bouts testing his movements, then with juryo Asahisho and makushita 10 more, all won by Hakuho. "As it can be seen, going on solid and doing a good sumo". Kyokutenho: "Over one year I did no keiko with him. When he selected me I though 'Oh boy'. He's indeed strong." Akinomaki 40,779 Posted July 2, 2012 Kisenosato has problems to go to degeiko. The late former Naruto-oyakata had put a ban on degeiko, except for the recent rengo-geiko. Kisenosato: "Consulting with the shisho, I'll go if he says 'go'". The present Naruto-oyakata (former Takanotsuru) hesitates. He had his myoseki on loan before. When the former shisho died last November, his heirs let the present take over the myoseki. Being a "replacement" it's difficult for him to change the principles. Tospo Keiko on June, 26th. Kintamayama 45,527 Posted July 3, 2012 (edited) Kisenosato had a visitor at Naruto beya yesterday for training- fellow Ozeki Harumafuji. They usually train with each other fiercely and this session was no exception- 18-4 in favor of Harumafuji. This may seem like a bad omen for Kisenosato, but before last basho he was 1-19 against Hakuhou, yet did well during the basho, learning from his mistakes in training. today is his birthday and he intends to face Harumafuji again. Akinomaki 40,779 Posted July 3, 2012 Kotoshogiku still has no training partner to finish his basho preparation. Kotooshu is not fit to train with him, Kotoyuuki is too far down the ranks to be a worthy opponent. Sadogatake-beya is unique in the sumo world to have 2 ozeki, so they had no need for degeiko in the past. They are located at the border to Gifu, most high rank rikishi are in Nagoya. Long-distance degeiko for Kotoshogiku? Tospo You wouldn't happen to have the locations of the temporary heya lodgings in the Nagoya region, would you? I'm curious about most high ranking rikishi being in Nagoya. Once upon a time, Miyagino beya used to be out in Kariya City (Aichi), Tokitsukaze was out in Inuyama City (Aichi), Takasago was out in Kanie Town (Aichi), Azumazeki was in Inazawa City (Aichi) and so on.
