Kintamayama 45,526 Posted September 23, 2012 (edited) I am the new Yokozuna. I can hardly believe it!! All those years of hard work and eating fish ( contrary to our belief) has finally paid off. With this new status come perks , but also new obligations. I must learn the cursed shiranui style of the dohyo-iri. I am told my shisho will be teaching me, but I'd rather have Hakuhou teach me, since he has taught me loads of other stuff that came in very handy in certain situations, like how to look really scary when I take my kensho money. i think I did it well after my bout against him, perhaps even better than him. I am also to undergo special "elbow training", whatever the hell that means. i am told I will probably have to abandon my "look, I am making like a frog and nearly kissing the dohyo" shikiri style, as it is of a non-hinkaku-esque nature. About this hinkaku - I am told I can no longer do stuff I'm used to doing like go out drinking all night with my pals and yelling at Hakuhou when he stands in front of the TV or eats all my gyouzas. At least, not in public. I also must do more yotsu-zumo and stare blankly forward most of the time. i have been practicing this in front of the mirror, but my wife keeps obscuring my view with her lipstick. i also must not eat with my mouth full in public. Bummer. Hummer. I must get me a Hummer or a yusho equivalent. I should go shopping for some new haori hakamas and give my old ones to Kyokutenhou for his birthday. I still can't believe the bout we had today. It was really long. I intended to quickly yorikiri him by fate, but i had to settle for sukuinage, my mate. I have written some haiku to express my extreme yet humble hinkaku-filled joy and pride and to show off my artistic side. It is in Japanese, but I will transliterate it in English, and then translate it for you barbarians who don't speak the language: Aki basho da Nan toka Yokozuna narimashita it is Aki Basho. Somehow, Yokozuna I have become. ------------------------------------- And another one: Tempura ha Sukiyaki yori mo Oishi i i Tempura is More than sukiyaki Tasty y y --------------------------- My favorite: Hakuho u ha ima made hitori Yokozuna da Hakuhou is until now the only Yokozuna Not anymore he ain't!!! WAAAAAAA!!! I apologize. This is not hinkaku-esque. Sorry.. Please don't tell Ikazuchi. BTW, where has he disappeared to? I have been asked by The Man With the Golden Balls to invite you all to play this between bashos sumo game called GTB (Guess the Banzuke) where you have to guess the next Banzuke while I learn the dohyo-iri. Rules and stuff can be found through the links below: Tiebreakers- we have those!! - Most total guesses, then, (PLEASE NOTE!!) we check the banzuke backwards - getting the lower half right will be more important now. The most correct guesses in the last ten places will win the tiebreaker. If still tied , we go up a ranking at a time like a penalty shootout. I hope that rectifies the "whoever got his entry in first" nonsense this testicle person had instilled before.., then, the first person who can explain to me what I did wrong to deserve all this honor. It's up to you to check if you are on the list of entries. It's going to be your fault if you don't. No monoiis (sorry..) on this matter will be accepted. At the risk of repeating myself- no exceptions! Unless you are members of the YDC, in which case I love you all dearly-here's looking at you, Tsuruta-sama!! For rules, standings and ex-Asashouryuu's latest business transactions: http://www.dichne.com/Guess.htm For the shiranui-style entry form: http://sumodb.sumoga...b/gtbentry.aspx For the "new" archives: http://sumodb.sumoga...gtbarchive.aspx Interview with Me: http://splicd.com/761_mxtWMBk/325/525 Deadline- Saturday, October 27th 2012 at 18:00 GMT ("Got My Tsuna!!") (that one was cool..even for me..MD). Thank you accordingly, Harumafuji OncewasAma, Yokozuna Number 70, Kintama, Doitsu (the Yamas), and Andoreasu (not the fault). Kintamayama 45,526 Posted September 28, 2012 10 entries so far. There is no use in waiting till the last minute like in some games. All you need to know is known. Get the entry in now, while everything is working..
yorikiried by fate 2,029 Posted September 28, 2012 (edited) Moti: I am currently trying not to accomodate Java on my computer at all cost. Thus, I was trying to bother you with my entries by mail. This failed, as the moti@dichne address seems to be out of order. What can we do? (OK. PM would solve it, but then I would have to type this stuff once more instead of just sending you a file...) Asashosakari 19,654 Posted September 28, 2012 Speaking of email and the GTB entry form, is there a reason the mailto at the top of the page is different from the one at "Mail Me" at the bottom?

Hmm... no Java involved in GTB as far as I know (and I made the entry form). Not even Javascript which is a rarity nowadays. The entry form really should work with most anything disabled. Now how you are able to post in this very forum I am really curious as sumoforum is built heavily on Javascript. Next: Motis email probably still works (of course with a .com at the end of what you posted). And: Which kind of files are you using which prevents you from copy and paste in a PM? Is it a picture? Finally, I would argue that it should be worth some effort to use the entry form as the procedures after that are automated, while emailed entries need manual work

Yes. I am senile. Can you simply delete the bottom one, since it's been dead for quite some years now?? Thank you. The text implies the need for a JRE, which is what I have kept off my system in my most current setup. Whatever. It will probably work and I apologize for the bother. At least I made Moti get rid of his old mail button. Edited September 28, 2012 by yorikiried by fate

I see - now we finally know why the entrant number was decreasing. Is it better now? Asashosakari 19,654 Posted September 28, 2012 (edited) I don't think even the pre-SDB entry form for GTB required Java, just Javascript. (Used to check for rikishi selected multiple times, wrong number of selections, etc.) Edited September 28, 2012 by Asashosakari

(Used to check for rikishi selected multiple times, wrong number of selections, etc.) That's correct. A lot of people don't know the difference between Java and Javascript anyway. yorikiried by fate 2,029 Posted September 28, 2012 (edited) OK, of course it worked. Sidenote: I have never ever received a confirmation mail for GTB, not today, not in the past. As such, this is fine by me, as I receive not one, but two identical confirmation mails for Bench Sumo every f*cking day I play, for instance. Just wanted to make you aware. Edit: Correction. Today the confirmation mail worked for the first time. Edited September 28, 2012 by yorikiried by fate

Colorful retro-look, indeed..I thought it was state of the art ultra-modern design. I'm gonna fire my guy right now.
Asameshimae 220 Posted September 29, 2012 I tried GTB for the first time today, and lo and behold there was a thread that was sort of about it! It was even more work than I thought it would be. Just keeping track of all the wrestlers, let alone deciding where to rank them, was a difficult task. \ I'd ask for tips for future banzuke guessing, but I would guess I won't be getting a lot of them, but I can try.... Anyway, I was wondering what the highest score every achieved for GTB was? Has anyone ever guessed it perfectly? If not, what is the closest someone has come? I tooled around a bit, but didn't find such information.
Asameshimae 220 Posted September 29, 2012 I had no problem registering. I entered my picks and it sent me an email. Then, I realized I had confused the second yokozuna row with the first ozeki row, so I re-entered it and got another email with my new banzuke, lickety-split. Kintamayama 45,526 Posted October 29, 2012 GTB for Kyushu 2012 is in the bag. Another tie this time, decided by the first tie-breaker-Andoreasu, our head gyoji, wins his second title!! Congrats!! And who does he beat?? The other administrator- Doitsuyama!!! YAOCHO!!!! (Good thing I didn't enter..) Only 65 entries this time, but I will attribute it to the fact the entry form was down for at least a week prior to the deadline. All is forgiven. We even had three new players, who ended in the bottom seven. Many entries were sent to me by mail-if you aren't on the list, mail me and I'll check. Milestones: Gaijingai-70 bashos!! Tosahayate- 50 bashos Flohru-50 bashos Fujisan-50 bashos Oskanohana-20 bashos To see how you did: http://www.dichne.com/Guess.htm And now, on with the ba-show!! Perhaps my antivirus is a bit overbearing, but when I click on the link it tells me Access Denied. Also; The web page is on the list of websites with potentially dangerous content.
