It's better the rijichos of the different games suggest a back up plan and an alternative ways entries to be submitted in such cases.

I suggest you should have taken notes of the alternative methods mentioned during the many previous outages.

I wish I had time to read all Notes, Threads etc., but unfortunately Sumo and sumo games are still my hobby.

I am sure there are a lot of players in my situation.

So, I think it will be a good idea for such sumo fans like me to be created a page, similar to the superb Exil's page "Sumo Games Deadlines" which to contain information for back-up or alternative way of sending the entries for the Daily Games in case of server outage.

It's good to be placed right after Exil's one.

It may be called "Daily Sumo Games - Alternative Ways of Submitting Entries" or something like that.

This is just a suggestion, not a topic for arguments.

How can we check who we got left unpicked for Seki-Quad ?

You can check your confirmation e-mails.

And you assume this is different for the people running the various games? Everything here is provided with somebody else's time. And if you're concerned enough about "your hobby" to ask about alternative ways of entry, why is it too much to ask that you save the information provided for the next time the server goes down? You've been playing long enough now that you've been here for several outages.

In any case...

The relevant parties were contacted some hours ago to do exactly that, so hopefully an "official" list will appear soon. Edited by Asashosakari

Achiyama...no offense, but please stop bloody moaning. We are all in the same boat. And as Pierre said, if it was that important to you, you should have had all those back-ups ready at hand. This kind of thing used to be a regular occurrence...let's just get on with it.

Good to have a page for this info. One wonders also...if the site just occasionally needs a kick up the arse...why not give the keys to technically proficient and trusted gamers who can do that when Doitsuyama is busy?

Hopefully a moot issue soon, but this is a partial list I pulled together during a similar discussion a couple years ago:

Chaingang: Kintamayama said (then) "you can send them to me here". Since he wrote that in the Forum, I guess that's where he wants them. --- I think Chaingang has finished for this basho

ISP: Same as Chaingang, send to Kintamayama --- Assumes the match of the day is known

Odd Sumo: Asashosakari said to email picks to golynohana (at) gmail (dot) com

Seki-Quad: Same as Odd Sumo, send to Asashosakari --- specific contact address not given Please send Seki-Quad picks to Golynohana --- as he wrote downthread

Seki-Toto: Asashosakari said to email picks to sekitoto (at) gmx (dot) net --- as he wrote upthread

At that time (2 years ago) there was discussion of putting emergency contact info in the standard text of various registration or pick confirmation automated emails. Some in this thread have mentioned checking those emails for contact information. Just to note that this does not work for all games - of the 3 daily games I'm playing, none contain this info and all contain statements that the From address is not monitored and not to reply to it.

As the server is still down who will be the recipient for the picks in

- TTT

- Bench Sumo

- Maegashira Game

?

I am confident, that server will work again in time, however, please let me/us know, just in case.

Thank you.

I would just like to say that I hope that Doitsuyama is ok, and not feeling unwell or worse.

There is a technical problem with the server that hosts sumo games.

The responsible people are working on it so hopefully it will be up soon.

and welcome to the GAWASOSURECT* club

*(GAmers With Acute Symptoms Of SUmo REference Cold Turkey)

I hope that it is just the server being naughty and nothing else.

Just thought about the myriads of clicks I normally perform there in a three week span around every honbasho...

As Golynohana said it's a technical problem with the ISP (not the Sumo game sadly) and there's not much I can do right now.

Pandaazuma,

I am NOT "bloody moaning" whatever that means. I was neither blaming anybody, nor criticising, nor complaining. I just gave a suggestion. You didn't have to gang up on me with Asashosakari. There were outages before but I don't recall, for the time I have been playing the sumo games, the problems not to be fixed at least a few hours before the deadlines.Obviously, the problem(s) this time was(were) more serious. I can assure you that I haven't thought for a moment otherwise but that Doitsuyama and other people in charge (if there are such) were doing the best they could to fix the problem.

Judging from Fukurou's thread (thanks for that, Fukurou) even if I had the chance to have these old notes some of the contacts there are not relevant now.

My suggestion was to be created a list with alternative ways of submitting entries in order to be used in the future. That's it.

I can't submit entries without any accessible torikumi for the next day.

I am not sure what you mean, but the NSK site is not affected, all the torikumi can be looked up there.

The torikumi is there, but there is NO the W-L record between the two rikishi like in Sumo Reference.

Sadly I deleted most of them. Perhaps you have access to the data and can send me ?

Of course, you can submit entries without the record. It's not the point of my reply. I just wanted to point out that the torikumi there is not as complete as in the Sumo Reference.

I'll be surprised, if you tell me that you don't look at the record between the rikishi.

He he, I think Achiyama will be really surprised.... Gernot is one of the few players who gives not so much on statistics.... Advantage Gernobono, I'd say....

I assume there is no Bout selected for Day 10 in ISP? Or did I miss something?

Which one would you pick ?

I would favour, in order :

1. Takayasu (1-8) vs Endo (3-6)

2. Myogiryu (5-4) vs Okinoumi (4-5)

3. Fujiazuma (7-2) vs Ikioi (6-3)

so be surprised

who cares about bouts betweeen kyokutenho and aminishiki from 1998?

and if you play sumogames regularly, you know who is winning recently...
