Ahokaina 44 Posted March 19, 2013 Oguruma oyakata (former Ozeki Kotokaze) looked pretty good as he appeared as a commentator on NHK broadcast. He fell and strained his neck during Jungyo and paralyzed last April. (I didn't know!) The doctor said his recovery speed has been almost a miracle. Oyakata said he just wanted to go back to his Heya to teach his rikishi as soon as possible. Amazing spirit! :-)

Hageouryu 16 Posted October 8, 2013 NHK programme from Sat 5 Oct about Oguruma-oyakata is here: http://video.fc2.com/content/20131005MXcmwVRs 42 minutes long - if you stop it and try to reload you may be expected to sign up to the website ("free limit exceeded" message). However, single first-time viewing was possible on next day. If this should be in the "TV programme" thread rather than here, maybe somebody who knows how to do it can create a link.
Akinomaki 40,791 Posted October 8, 2013 Just a quote should be sufficient The rikishi of Oguruma-beya and the family did a surprise dance for the oyakata, who is still in rehabilitation after his grave accident last year. With pics:http://www.nhk.or.jp/athome/onair/20131005c02.htmlDetails of the program about “the man who has seen hell twice”:http://datazoo.jp/tv/突撃!アッとホーム/673261 Right! and it was on regular Japanese TV today (or was it yesterday?). A very moving program, at all levels. The love and support were very much in evidence.Orion
