Thanks. You have to pick harder when I'm beyond the limit of my ability to concentrate.

Taiho's grandchild, Takamori Naya (right), 1st year at Saitama Sakae high school, at his first high school tournament, as is Sadogatake-oyakata's first son (same school, same year) Masakatsu Kamatani (left).

The 2 now in their 2nd year (both 16). Goeido came for a visit to his old school and met them in the sumo club. They both want to enter ozumo after graduation (I won't create the thread "New recruits for Haru 2016" yet).

Naya (again on the right) is presently at 183cm, 136kg, Kamatani at 186cm, 137kg.

A few more pictures from Goeido's visit. 2,800 students packed into the main hall for a pep rally for the new Ozeki.

Naya now made his first appearance at the Interhigh national championships (Zenkoku-Koukou-Soutai), both won in the preliminary rounds round of the team event, Naya on middle (chuken), Kamatani on last position (taisho).

Kamatani also won in the individuals, where he competes for the 2nd year. The finals are today.

Any news on Naya? Shouldn't he be entering ozumo at the same time as Kotokamatani?

Naya is currently a key member of Saitama Sakae High School's sumo team. He recently came second in a High School tournament in Kochi (his team won the event for a record 8th time)

There are 4 Nayas, sons of Takatoriki and grandsons of Taiho: the first went to pro-wrestling, the 2nd, Takamori Naya, about whom this thread originally was, has already graduated from Saitama Sakae High School and entered the Chuo university sumo club (see above) - the 3rd is now in his 2nd year at Saitama Sakae High: Kounosuke Naya (16, 188cm, 150kg)
In 1st year middle school when he started keiko at the Saitama Sakae sumo club he had over 60% body fat, now it's 40-45%.
His coach: "A bright future, he'd aim for yokozuna/ozeki as a pro."
Last year he wasn't a regular team member, last month he started his new career at once as runner-up in the open weight division of the national high school newcomer tournament. The team has many good members, so "He has no guarantee to become a regular, he's still weak in training" but "in 2 years I want to bring him to the level of a high makushita rikishi."
Naya: "I want to become a regular in August and win the title with the team. In high school I want to get a body with which I can compete when I go pro."

At the 3rd Hakuho-cup opening ceremony: the 2nd son of Taiho's 3rd
daughter: Takamori Naya, 3rd year middle school - made it to the best 16.

the 3rd son Kounosuke (middle 1st year) and 4th son Kousei (primary 5th
year) lost in their first bout, Kousei in the 2nd round. All have 幸 on
top of their first names (with different readings), like the
grandfather.
All 3 want to become rikishi.

Hakuho especially is fond of Kousei, who got his first win in the
team event - after Hakuho called him to give him some encouraging words.
He wants him to rise up in ozumo to meet him and win, and that to be
Hakuho's reason for intai. "I'll wait for this.", to be in his mid/late
30s, preferably after getting 32 yusho like Taiho. At the moment Kousei
is 160cm and 80 kg.

M. 3rd grade Masakatsu (different Kanji but like his grandfather
Kotozakura's shikona first name) Kamatani was joint 3rd, first son of
Sadogatake-oyakata (Kotonowaka).

He talked about his son, who still won't have his first fight: As a grandson of Taiho he mustn't be a laughing stock by showing a stupid fight.

The first son of Takatoriki, Yukio Naya (22, 195cm, 120kg) is now ready for his debut fight: on Feb. 4th, about 4 years after he entered pro-wrestling in March 2013 - he fell ill last year and for one whole year couldn't accomplish anything. It will be at a tournament of ancient martial arts, of sumahi - the ancient sumo of the type with which Nomi-no-Sukune fought Taima-no-Kehaya to the death. His shisho, the first Tiger-Mask (58) wants to revive that, the ancestor of all Japanese fighting sports. http://www.daily.co.jp/ring/2016/10/29/0009622418.shtml

Actually his debut fight didn't take place - this ancient sumo style event was cancelled (and maybe the whole sumahi organization is finished): the next date for his debut fight is Sep. 14th, now really pro-wrestling. http://www.sponichi.co.jp/battle/news/2017/08/01/kiji/20170731s00003000468000c.html

Fortunately the other 3 Nayas are in (amateur) sumo, the 2 youngest are now in high school - and hopes for the Saitama Sakae team. 3rd year Kounosuke (right, 190cm, 160kg) is the team captain for the upcoming inter-high, Kousei (185cm, 130kg) is 1st year now.

The 2 in primary school had very bad eating habits, no vegetables etc., and didn't show promising results then. Saitama Sakae coach Yamada brought the obese Kounosuke into shape - he couldn't even get out of a car without help: "Like that I'd definitely be sick now. Lucky that I left home." Kounosuke won the national select high school tournament in March, Kousei last year was in the best 8 of the national middle school championships. Kounosuke: "I want to perform well in makuuchi and inherit granddad's and dad's Otake-beya." Kousei: "I want to test my strength in ozumo, like my revered dad."

Yamada: "Kounosuke is fit enough to succeed in ozumo, Kousei I'll forge from now on."
