Sumo World via iTunes

What level of interest would there be for a iTunes version of the infamous Sumo World?

As a long time collector of SW, I would be interested if they were reasonable priced. It's not as much a necessity like it was in the mid 70s when I started collecting them, but I'd still buy/read every issue...

I would buy anything sumo-related on iTunes or anywhere else, for that matter.

Price. Good question. The cover price is 650 yen. But for an electronic version, I figure there ought to be a big discount.

What price do you think is fair?

I have every issue from January 1980 until around 2002 when SW somehow disappeared.

I have no idea what cut Apple gets, but I think somewhere in the $2 - $3 range is fair... Having back issues would be a huge plus also

Yes, whatever's Apple's cut will play a factor. It seems their quality review process takes weeks.

Is sumo world a monthly thing? Once per basho? How big are the typical issues? I'm with masumasumasu on this one; I'll buy pretty much anything sumo related.

It's one issue per basho (well, it's supposed to be anyway) and usually around 28-32 pages.

What I would be interested in is a republication of Clyde's book on the Makuuchi rikishi of the Showa era or a collection of his biographies on the Yokozuna and other historically significant rikishi. Despite the experience with Sumo World in the last ten years he is still one of the most knowledgebale guys regarding Sumo history.

the publisher is somewhat difficult to reach. hopefully i will see him at the next basho and let him know that putting out for the Kindle platform is a straight forward effort. he has more issues available, so it is just a matter of me getting ahold of him.

there are a couple of copies of this available in Tokyo. Not cheap but rare, not seen one for about 10-years till this summer.

I had a copy of every Sumo World published before 1980 with the match matrix for each basho carefully filled in.  On a move in the1990's , I decided that my connection with sumo was over, and I almost tearfully trashed the entire set.  About ten years later, I discovered the forum, and I have been kicking myself ever since.  (Weeping...)
