Raishu 208 Posted July 1, 2013 The last Okinawan Sekitori I can remember is Ryuho. Probably yes, but I throw in another Rikishi who does not appear in krindel's query. http://sumodb.sumogames.de/Rikishi.aspx?r=11840 I know he is listed with Kagoshima as shusshin (Yoron island), but people seem to recognize him as Okinawan, too (as you can see here): http://goyrepublicezine.blogspot.de/2013/06/ryukyu-shimpo-okinawa-japanese_11.html Tricky ... Asashosakari 19,448 Posted July 1, 2013 (edited) I know he is listed with Kagoshima as shusshin (Yoron island), but people seem to recognize him as Okinawan, too (as you can see here): http://goyrepublicezine.blogspot.de/2013/06/ryukyu-shimpo-okinawa-japanese_11.html Tricky ... It might be different in Okinawa because they have fewer rikishi to support, but generally the support in such cases runs only through the school connection, e.g. all those rikishi with a Saitama Sakae background might be receiving support by Saitama inhabitants as Sakae graduates, but not really as "Saitama rikishi"; that's usually limited to those who were actually born there or at least lived there for longer than just the three high school years. Yubinhaad 11,719 Posted July 3, 2013 (edited) Koike measured by Tamanoi-oyakata. And on the scales, observed by Matsugane-oyakata (former Ozeki Wakashimazu), Asahiyama-oyakata (former Ozeki Daiju) and Kagamiyama-oyakata (former Sekiwake Tagaryu). Back strength measurement for one of the other five. Edited July 3, 2013 by Yubinhaad

Asashosakari 19,448 Posted July 3, 2013 Obsessive orthography note: Unless you're implying that his "parts" are remote-controlled through microelectronics, it should be "silicone".
Benevolance 2,501 Posted July 3, 2013 The Japanese are pretty advanced in robotics. And robotic appendages would be the perfect counter to the current Mongol dominance! But would this be a nagete or a kakete technique?
Kintamayama 45,264 Posted July 4, 2013 Obsessive orthography note: Unless you're implying that his "parts" are remote-controlled through microelectronics, it should be "silicone". Now you're just being sili.
