Takakeisho and Hoshoryu were guests on yesterday's 2 hour special of Junk Sports youtube.query=ジャンクSPORTS 12月18日

Recorded a day after Kyushu day 15.

Comments on other sports (Takakeisho hates the Yomiuri Giants - and apparently also Sanctuary) and later on the sumo part with the yusho of the 2. With Corona restrictions gone, Takakeisho wanted a yusho photo with his son - the 18 bouts completely exhausted him: 15 + 2 torinaoshi and the ketteisen. Hoshoryu training scenes with Asashoryu before the yusho basho - he went to Mongolia for that.

It's hard to even test-bed this out in the db, since (for instance) no one has gone 15-0 at some of the ranks Hakuoho would inhabit during his Sekiwake run.

I think it's mathematically possible for Wakatakakage to reach Ozeki in Hatsu 2005, but the Ozeki criterion (I believe) would preclude getting there in November 2024.

He could get to Makuuchi in Natsu, but would need to reach Sekiwake by Aki. Is there a precedent for someone to get to Sekiwake from lower Makuuchi in 2 basho? It doesn't seem possible.

My miracle scenario is this:

Jan: 7-0 @ Ms1 ->

March: J5; 15-0 @ J5 ->

May: M8; 13-2 @ M8 ->

July: K1; 14-1 @ K1 ->

September: S1; 14-1 @ S1 ->

November: S1 -- because, even with 41 wins over the previous 3 basho, in the first basho he was at M8; > 10 wins ->

Jan 2025: Ozeki.

J5: 1979 (to J7 in 2013)

M8: Tochinoshin did it in 2014.

The challenge was to see if it was even possible.  Of course, the rikishi (Wakatakakage) would have to hit the jackpot 6 times straight to even make this possible.

Even with a dose of Hakuoho fever, he's not likely to catch enough breaks to make Sekiwake in 2024.

Musashimaru was highly entertaining. Wish he'd do more TV. The show hosts felt the same and encouraged him to do so, but he said: "I don't like TV, and I'm not good at."

We beg to differ. 

Musashimaru also remarked that he's weighing in at around 200 kilos these days. That he isn't close to Akebono, but is friends with Konishiki. When Konishiki was brought up, he said, "You mean that fat guy?" To which the host replied, "You're fatter than him right now."

Wouldn't mind seeing him go on a diet, as honestly, he's not looking great for a 52 year old. 

The show also spent a lot of time talking about Mainoumi's silicon head implant in order to meet the minimum height requirement when he entered sumo. Said it hurt so bad that he was physically sick for a while after the surgery.

Kyokudozan, who I'd never seen before, was also an entertaining guest.

And for those who may not be aware, Tomisakae has a major supporting role in the Netflix show Vivant. Which is pretty cool to me because I took my picture with him and Terutsuyoshi several years ago when they visited a nearby town for training camp.
