Yubinhaad 11,761 Posted November 7, 2013 The Kyokai posted an abridged coverage of the dohyo construction this time, but that's OK as we've had plenty of detail in previous basho. Installing the tamari-seki and masu-seki seating areas. Asakayama-oyakata (former Ozeki Kaio) chats with one of the crew as they prepare to raise the tsuriyane into position. The dohyo material arrives. Asakayama chats to another crew member. The yobidashi get to work. Hiroyuki smiles for the camera. Asakayama turns up again. Pictured with Juryo yobidashi Rikinojo and Koji. Digging out the grooves for the tawara. Satoru carves out one of the corner niches for the chikara-mizu pail. Naoki places one of the shobudawara. Tatsu and Tsurutaro work on the steps. Soichi smoothes out the surface. The agedawara (corner bales) and kadodawara (straight bales along the outer edges) will be added following tomorrow's zenyasai. Yubinhaad 11,761 Posted November 9, 2013 (edited) A correction to the above post - the tawara installed in the dohyo there were only temporary and were removed following the zenyasai. The 'proper' honbasho tawara were then installed by the yobidashi, and the dohyo is now complete. Setsuo removing the zenyasai tawara. Re-measuring. Installing the new tawara.
