Ura on the 19th did arm-sumo (ude-zumo) with students and staff at the Kande gakuen free school in Kobe, to help truant kids. He also showed oshi techniques and told about the fascination of sumo. http://www.sankei.com/region/news/181220/rgn1812200010-n1.html

Hmm...... If he wanted to help truants, wouldn't the school be the wrong place to go?

It's a "school" for truants (same violence problem)

You have to read it once with and once without comma

Mitakeumi had a kickoff event with mascot Gans-kun of Matsumoto Yamaga FC, before the club match against JEF Chiba yesterday.

After a year, another match with Gans-kun for Mitakeumi,  before the club match Matsumoto Yamaga FC against Vegalta Sendai on the 15th - total victory: Gans again wanted to do first a PK shootout before a sumo bout: Mitakeumi easily stopped the ball from Gans, easily got a goal in and then again smashed the poor goose.

No good video this time, only from afar: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vyERq6ymSQ8

The event for Matsumoto Yamaga FC had no coverage in the papers, but Mitakeumi at baseball gets a flood of pics

Today he did the opening ball ceremony at the game of the Nagoya Chunichi Dragons vs. Hokkaido Nippon Ham

A dragon is a bit tougher than a goose, even if it's just a koala - no comparison with Gans: the Dragons mascot Doala went for sumo at once and tried to stop Mitakumi to go to the mound - and also after being smashed down followed him out later

On August 24th, the Japanese national basketball team will face Germany in a match in Saitama. Kakuryuu intends to attend. There is a chance he will be called upon to throw a basketball during the opening ceremonies. Kakuryuu used to play basketball. Today, before his bout at the jungyo, he threw a few shots. He practiced for 15 minutes and at some point, sunk 7 consecutive three-pointers. You may read that again. 7 consecutive three-pointers. "I'm happy I got it right in the end," he said. "But if I get to do that, I'll have to wear a kimono, right? It's going to be difficult.. " he said.

Same procedure as every year (unless some sansho winner goes kyujo due to the winter jungyo). This year Shodai, Daieisho and Asanoyama helped UNICEF with fund raising (maybe they are more generous with sansho for Kyushu and for the Aki basho before the red feather campaign?)

Tokoshoryu wants to meet his "little sister" look-alike. After Takarafuji with Matsuko, Tokoshuryu has now, after his yusho, an entertainer double: Kanade from the comedy trio 3o'clock heroine 3時のヒロイン - she also performs imitations of his famous yusho interview.

Hodaka, Hamasu and Genbumaru from Onoe-beya show sumo exercises for "traffic safety fitness" in a video of the Metropolitan police department for the spring traffic safety campaign: to cross the street, shiko stamping check if a car approaches, check right, stamp, check left, stamp. Tsuppari check to check that the car has stopped, tsuppari to the right and left, checking if a car approaches while crossing, suriashi (that is a failure, nobody did suriashi) http://news.tbs.co.jp/newseye/tbs_newseye6011366.html

I take it it's now kosher in terms of COVID requirements for rikishi to be seen at sporting events, at least before banzuke day. The last time a Mongolian yokozuna was seen at one of those..... (although there have been relaxations in the rules since, haven't there?)
