Asashoryu to fight Hakuho again

Recommended Posts

Following the way Mongolian tabloids make things sensational, I should break the next breaking tabloid news here.

A fight between rival Yokozuna Asashoryu and Hakuho may be imminent, according to a Mongolian tabloid. The source reports that Fuji television of Japan is preparing their ultimate show of the year in world celebrity arm wrestling tournament. Many athletes from pro-wrestling, pro-baseball have signed, among them are the Yokozuna Asashoryu and Hakuho. The two Yokozuna will face different opponents in first round and may face each other if they keep advancing through the rounds.

Asashoryu may also get a chance to teach Bob Sapp a lesson since the beast is also in the list.

The show will be broadcast on new year's eve night.

How would that even work? Asashōryū is left-handed, Hakuhō is right-handed. Also arm-wrestling sounds like a bad idea unless you want to risk an injury.

A disgraced former top rikishi might find this an useful source of fame and money, but would a current one risk shaming the kyokai?

Recently, in Toronto, our very large and very famous crack-smoking mayor, Rob Ford, challenged Hulk Hogan to a duel, and actually beat him (going left-handed, which is Hogan's "off wing"). Was Much Ado About Nothing.

And I don't see Asa or Hak facing off anytime soon.

However, I'd love to see a matchup between Baruto and Tochinoshin. Or Aran. That would be cool.

The kyokai likely set it up. Goeido did it last year. The arm wrestling tournament is a yearly TV fixture and gets lots of press, which the Kyokai likes. Nobody is out there to hurt each other and nobody is going to let themselves get hurt. They are all pro's.

The only time I have ever seen Kyokutenho get injured was on last new year's wrist wrestling spectacular.

I wish I could have coached him. He let his arm get stretched out and it was over:
