January 2014 Videos- Days 1-15

Recommended Posts

I am getting the "This video is private" message when I try to watch DowntownHyena's Juryo coverage. I tried a proxy but it didn't change it. Any help is appreciated!

This person privated the videos because he's afraid they would be taken down and/or his channel be deleted by the same company who shut me down. DowtownHyena used my videos (I suppose the correct term is UStream's videos) for his highlights. No big deal by me, though. Spread sumo.

@Araibira

Great news that youre fine and uploading again from this basho. Not the real thing, but at least something. Hope things will turn out fine...

@Kintamayama

Sad news that you're not doing your usual recap anymore. I'll really miss the comments. Always interesting to follow even if you had seen the bouts allready. I can understand it. At some stage it's just too much of a hassle and doesn't make fun anymore.

Howerver, as a last piece of work I expected something like the usual titles and comments on a black screen. "Hallo NSK!? Do you see the picture." ;-)

The niji stream worked great for me. Quality was comparable to the streams of the kyushu basho if not even slightly better. Aspect ratio was slightly off though, making Takanoyama even thinner as he is. ;-)

Beeing on a Mac is not really a great advantage for this. The niji Programm is Windows only. So I have to use it inside a virtual machine.

It's possible to grab the video with the onboard QuickTime Player, which lets you do screen recording. I just made a test for this right now. Quality was good. No difference, but audio doesn't work properly and overall it's a nuissance...

Maybe taking the AV-signal out to an other device like a TV and recording it via DVD Recorder from there or taking this signal to another PC which takes it as input.... Pfuhhh...

@Araibira + Moti

Why not uploading the usual recordings as private to YT (at least Juryo and Makuuchi) and share them this way with moti who could use them in turn...?

Not really sure what to say, all this stuff has knocked me for six. I'm going to miss your humour as much as live Sumo itself Kinta.

Thank you to everyone that has worked to provide sumo coverage for us. Moti, your videos were great. I will miss them. Araibira, I have followed some of you videos, great work. Also, thank you to DowntownHyena, I hope you can continue. Great job.

Your vid made me notice Takayasu’s kimarite was called uwatenage. Wasn’t that an extremely obvious uwatedashinage…? I think today there were 2 dubious kimarite I noticed…

I have to correct myself -- Kintamayama, both you and Araibira rule!

Another important observation -- on Kinta's video at the beginning of the replay of Sadanofuji vs Kaisei it sounds like one of the commentators does a hearty burp :D

Day 8-day of much experimenting. now that we have two daily digests, this is way more fun. Audio died for my source today worldwide. Instead, there is a background of polite chatter at a party. This is upload number 2-there may be another one shortly with a few improvements..

Kyokushuho seems to not trust his knees recently, especially the left knee.

After today's bout I thought I saw him limping after letting up and giving up by "touchdown".
