You get a bit of action, it then freezes, and goes back about one minute and replays the same segment, then continues until it has the jitters again, freezes, rewinds again and replays the same stuff.... Anyone else have this issue? My reception of tonite's juryo has been flawless on Niji. Using Window's 7. Edit: Spoke too soon. My reception went to the choppy mode during the dohyo-iri. Edit Edit: Smoothed out again after the dohyo-iri. Running about a 7 minute delay behind TVJapan coverage. Edited May 18, 2014 by Asojima
kuroimori 1,634 Posted May 18, 2014 UBS is also acting funny. Sudden stops and a message that the channel went off air...
Kintamayama 45,086 Posted May 18, 2014 NHK Virtually non-existent today for me. Cobble cobble cobble.

Akinomaki 40,412 Posted June 6, 2014 (edited) Niji+VLC now works perfect for me on my win7 notebook. Since it displays fine in Niji, having it displayed in VLC as well is detrimental. Using there open network stream (I use a buffer of 5000ms) and convert with saving as raw input to a mpg file produces a file that even can be displayed with the USB media player on my TV and looks there just as good as an ordinary TV program. I tried it on the Masunoyama thing (both times it was aired). And an additional plus: starting when the thing is shown on Niji gives a recording that starts several seconds back - no need to worry that you miss the first few seconds. Edit: Only NHK - the other channels still have problems Oddly enough, I'm having a completely different Niji issue than those posted before - the stream looks fine in Niji itself, but the same stream viewed through VLC is quite choppy. Any ideas?Looks like default-settings VLC grabs the streamed data nearly as fast as it can, so we get to see all the hiccups on there, while Niji adds a huge local buffer (10+ secs) to compensate for the spotty throughput we get to "enjoy" since the 2.x updates came in.Increasing the VLC cache buffer from 1000 ms to 10000 ms seems to be helping. Asojima 2,874 Posted July 3, 2014 It appears that the Mongolian UBS service may have gone subscription on or about July 1. The Ustream link that was there has disappeared, and the direct Ustream URL now shows as "Off Air".

Same here :-( If this is going to stay that way, we're down to one free of charge online live stream option (NIJI) and the not free of charge but the still much better value option (jpPlayer). Mukonoso 273 Posted July 4, 2014 Sorry to rehash a question but, I've just recently discovered "hola.org". Will NIJI work with that? And what is the URL and country for NIJI? Thanks.
Benevolance 2,501 Posted July 5, 2014 jpPlayer still only shows the top division matches, correct? Aside from the kyokai sumo stream, do any of the pay/non-pay options stream the entire day of matches?
Asojima 2,874 Posted July 7, 2014 As of July 7, UBS has returned with its old Ustream link active.
Asojima 2,874 Posted July 13, 2014 (edited) For Day1, Niji sumo coverage started in mid-juryo, and UBS picked up its sumo coverage in makuuchi at 10 minutes after the hour, as usual. Niji is running at its customary 4-5 minutes delay. Edited July 13, 2014 by Asojima
sekihiryu 51 Posted July 13, 2014 (edited) My previous two android phones were non japanese tweaked models , now I have an Xperia z2, phenomenomal device that has the new "full seg" capability - watching the sumo in full HD on my phone anywhere is now a go, no more ustream, fiddling around with others streams, in the future now. I can even record and watch it later. Nice. Anyone who is japan, time to upgrade, especially if you have an inferior iphone. Just to confirm, you are in Japan and watch NHK G directly (streaming via NHK website or NHK App) ?
Asojima 2,874 Posted July 13, 2014 (edited) Sorry but can someone provide the links again to the NIJI and UBS sites? The download page for the Niji program is here. UBS links are: http://www.ubs.mn/ubslive1.php http://www.ustream.tv/channel/ubsstream/pop-out or http://www.ustream.tv/embed/17806725 (embedded) Edited July 13, 2014 by Asojima
Asafan 0 Posted July 14, 2014 Can somebody help me with this NIJI page ? I don't know what to do and where to click. I don't speak Japanese... I downloaded the program, but...what next? I tried to click on NHK but a window opens...I guess it must be a login or something... :-S
Kintamayama 45,086 Posted July 14, 2014 Need help-just upgraded to Win 7 that brings with it the shittiest piece of video editing software in the universe-Windows Movie Maker Live. They decided to improve the old WMM and of course screwed it up royally. I tried the 2.6 rollback for Vista that works on 7 but it freezes my computer. Stuck with the new one-getting used to it but for the love of God I can't get the clips I get from Niji to show normally-I get blacks on the side. Everything is geared to 16:9 so it's not that-what am I doing wrong?? Thank you and sorry.
sekihiryu 51 Posted July 14, 2014 Awesome! Just to confirm, you are in Japan and watch NHK G directly (streaming via NHK website or NHK App) ? In japan and watching "TV" on the phone. Essentially the phone becomes a TV and picks up the digital TV broadcast using a special cable that connects to the head phonejack- looks and acts like a headphone cable extension as well as an being an antenna. Car TV's use the same system. 1 seg has been around a while. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1seg Full seg is much better quality

I tried to click on NHK but a window opens...I guess it must be a login or something... :-SThe window is asking for login data. The first line should be for an Email address. The second one should be for a new Niji-unique password. There should be a check box for remembering the login info so it does not have to be reentered each time. Finally, there should be a "login" button at the bottom. You will probably get a confirmation email that you have to respond to to actvate your account. Jakusotsu 5,960 Posted July 14, 2014 I noticed some time ago (while helping two people out) that some email addresses are rejected as "invalid", for instance everything @t-online.de . Because of the "-" perhaps?
umbriel2 13 Posted July 15, 2014 Has everybody realized that you can adjust the aspect ratio at NIJI? If you right-click on the NIJI screen and choose the lower option in the pop-up window, then you can stretch the left end of the NIJI screen with left-clicking of the mouse, as long as you want, adjusting the desired aspect ratio. torquato 1,075 Posted July 15, 2014 Related to NIJI and email / login I would like to draw your attention to the fact that the login password is submittet in clear text over the net! A very bad and amateurish thing to do. Everybody on your local network can read out your login data. So please don't use a password for NIJI that that you use otherwise.
